The way their team is handling things is holding them back. Katseye could easily stand out as the first girl group formed through K-pop methods but built to be truly global. On top of that, their biggest strength is obvious: the girls themselves. They’re cool, relatable, and connect naturally with their generation. That’s why people are drawn to them. But the marketing doesn’t highlight that at all. Instead, almost every interview or promo falls back on the same boring “we’re diverse and global” line. It’s repetitive and comes across as corporate PR instead of letting the girls show who they are. Their personalities are interesting, funny, and genuine, yet the company wastes opportunities by flattening them into sales pitches. They could talk about their artistry, experiences, and goals, but instead we just hear about their nationalities for the hundredth time. You see this problem in both eras: at debut and now with their viral moments. The biggest complaint from people outside K-pop has always been the music. The debut song felt dated for the Western market they were aiming at. Then Touchwent viral but sounded like typical K-pop despite the “global” branding. The constant switching in sound, with no cohesion, makes their discography feel like a pile of random songs. That doesn’t help attract casual listeners or Western audiences who aren’t already invested in the members. Gnarly was the one time critics and music people in the West actually praised them—it showed the path forward. But the next single went right back to sounding like something generic that could have been given to anyone. The “global diversity” angle also feels overplayed. In K-pop it’s a novelty, but in the Western market diversity has always been the standard. Most big girl groups in the US have been diverse for decades. What makes Katseye different is that they’re truly multinational, not just diverse in background. That’s impressive, but the company’s obsession with pushing this narrative makes it feel shallow instead of natural. Katseye are at their best when they’re treated as real artists and real people, not a “global experiment.” That’s why Gnarlyhit the way it did. In these early years, the focus should be on building their sound and identity, not forcing concepts or empty PR. Dropping Gabriela so early highlighted this problem, it felt disconnected from the group’s core and way too soon for such a big shift in direction. If they want to incorporate their cultures, it should be thoughtful and intentional, like how K-pop groups wait a few years before rolling out solos or sub-units. They’d be so much stronger if marketed like the classic friend groups we grew up with—Bratz, Winx, even Lego Friends—where each girl has her own personality and story, and together they feel like a natural, fun, diverse group of friends. Their cultures and identities will always be part of that, but it shouldn’t overshadow their individuality as people. Otherwise, it starts to feel tokenizing. And honestly, as minorities in the West we’ve been saying for years how frustrating it is when characters are reduced only to their background instead of being allowed to just exist and grow. Katseye deserves better than that. submitted by /u/bayblade333 [link] [comments]

This is all hypothetical and very unlikely to happen, but if they did comeback, do you see them sticking to their previous concept or them going for something like 'Pit Stop'. I liked Pit Stop and it kind of reminds me of aespa's bad ass concept but I don't really see them going in that direction as its such a 180 from what they did before and aespa are just that good at that concept. Furthermore, do you think their next cb would be as big as a hit as their previous ones? submitted by /u/Impossible_Cable_862 [link] [comments]

So far I’ve been really impressed with their music quality? Specifically what you want. The lyrics my god it’s so refreshing to hear something that isn’t about love, or being the best (which seems like every tt song that drops is about these days) It’s a song about living your life and the lyrics are genuinely fun. And the teezo feature on the eng version is so fire, he actually added something to the song, which i can’t say the same for a lot of other groups remixes. I don’t wana say who my ults are but I’ve been genuinely disappointed in their releases this year due to their music direction which I know isn’t entirely their fault but that’s just the thing. Cortis is what happens when you let the artists take charge and find their own sound. submitted by /u/AdEmergency6619 [link] [comments]

My top 3 are: Pansy by Taemin Rise by Taemin Love Wins All by IU Pansy because the whole song and words have so much meaning to me. As in the verse 'how lucky am I' reminds me exactly that how lucky am I. Rise because it helps me see what I've come through as I have Complex PTSD. Love Wins All because there's a small part of me that hopes I will find love again. submitted by /u/JustSelection416 [link] [comments]
Imagine you could jump into a K-pop music video, just like jumping into a movie. Which video would you choose and why? Maybe it's because of the cool dance moves, the colorful outfits, the catchy song, or the interesting story. I would LOVEEE to be in Earth, Wind & Fire by BOYNEXTDOOR's MV. It looks so fun and interesting submitted by /u/Artistic_Giraffe4069 [link] [comments]
So I’ve been offline for a while and apparently missed a lot lol. Im not sure if they were ever actually dating, but I’m sure they aren’t together now. And personally, if my ex suddenly started posting private pics of me from 5 years ago without my consent on his personal account, I’d call him a creep and I'd see that as a very disturbing behavior. So I really don’t get why people are treating this whole situation as normal and some are even framing her as a "weak, poor woman". Like... what? Am I missing something?? submitted by /u/Narrow_Start_5340 [link] [comments]

Hello... This is so weird. Like I genuinely thought I was being paranoid (I have anxiety and am sometimes quite paranoid and thus actively watch who sees my stories on Instagram etc.) I have a casual account. It's not private, but the people who follow me are either my friends or other people who know me through others or social circles etc etc... So even the people I don't follow back, are people I can understand why they follow me. Sometimes random accounts watch my stories but there's often always a reason for it, like me joining in on a template. But lately, around the same time I started following this one nugu group, some anonymous private accounts who don't follow me have been watching my stories every now and then. I've kept count of them and taken screenshots just in case, and they're mostly accounts that seem to specifically be made for "lurking", as in, some of them don't follow anyone or only follow a few people. I brushed it off at first but well... I began finding reasons to think that these accounts could be members of said nugu group. I can explain some more if anyone wants, but for now: I made an entirely new account just to test it. Different email and everything to my original, so the algorithm doesn't know it's owned by the same person as my original account. I even started following random mainstream people, like Ariana Grande and some football players etc. just to fool the algorithm more. Then, I went to search up those accounts that had been watching my original account's stories, and the suggestions under many of those accounts included members of the nugu group. I even went to check some of the members' followers and many of the accounts that followed anyone, followed them. So they are definitely connected somehow. And I don't think these could all be just fans of the group because why would they make separate obvious lurking profiles? Like some of them don't have a profile picture and their username is just gibberish, random numbers, or just a keyboard smash. Although I've had my doubts, I talked to a few of my friends about this and now we're convinced that they are the members' alt accounts. Timing and everything, it can't be a coincidence even though it feels ridiculous to think that members from a group I love are lurking on my profile.... My friends even joked I'm gonna get casted lol cause I post dance videos on my profile a lot and my posts are overall already quite "K-pop idol personal Instagram"-vibe (quote from my friend) I've been in the K-pop scene since 2012 and nothing like this has ever happened to me. I was wondering if it happens to anyone else? Is this normal? Should I feel embarrassed that they're potentially making fun of me together or something? I know many of you might feel like it's hard to believe and trust me I don't fully believe it either but I have no other explanations so far. They're actually nugu btw, so it makes sense they're more interested in their fans cause they don't have super many, but still... I'm not going to say any names though, for now. TLDR: I highly suspect members of a group I follow are looking through my Instagram on alt accounts- anyone with a similar experience? submitted by /u/BicycleNo1181 [link] [comments]
