Was just watching Cortis' behind the scenes for their new mv for Fashion and was just blown away with the kind of money bighit spent on their debut. The mv is excellent and the boys are really talented so it clearly didnt go to waste but i was just amused by the whole thing. The mv was shot completely in New Zealand and the boys took helicopters to film in some locations. Their mvs for Go! and What you want were filmed in the US i believe and even in their debut documentary they clearly spent months abroad in LA training and recording their new album. It is BigHit's first group formed completely under Hybe and their first group in 6 years so I knew it was always going to be a high profile one but it still shocks me how much money went into it given theyre just rookies. I dont follow a lot of non hybe groups so what other groups debuted with such big budgets? submitted by /u/PrimaryTomato3310 [link] [comments]
I've been really confused by the timelines of the relationship on news websites as well as the statement released by BigHit regarding their relationship. Did they date for an extended period of time or was it just a short relationship a long time ago? Even just educated guesses would help me 😅 submitted by /u/butterflies43 [link] [comments]
Now that her solo debut has arrived the t shirt incident has resurfaced and I would like to know if anybody has completely boycotted her because of it. She is human being that wanted to wear a t shirt of a popular punk artist ( sid vicious of sex pistols) , she wasn't wearing Nazi memorabilia. I believe her intentions were pure and she didn't mean any harm but DID cause it so she apologized. Chaeyoung made a major mistake, apologized for it immediately and then never wore the shirt again. Also, I'm not sure how Koreans are taught about WW2 but I think it's fair to assume Korea doesn't demonize the swastika as much as America. As a U.S. Citizen I can tell you that learning about WW2 as a kid a decade ago doesn't really mean much. Kids usually don't care about history, the only reason I know about WW2 so much is because of our movies and games(Inglorious bastards, call of duty , etc).America often makes media making Nazis evil and i don't think Korea does the same. I think Korea focuses on the Japanese occupation of Korea more than the Hitler side of ww2. TLDR - I believe chaeyoung made a mistake and gave my evidence showing why she made the mistake. If you boycott her , I want to know why? Let's have a civilized discussion submitted by /u/Technical_Candy_2963 [link] [comments]
Okay, clickbait, I know. But bear with me here. Also, throwaway account 🙃 tl;dr: need help with dealing with my partner and their parasocial attachment to Woozi (and Hoshi) in light of their upcoming enlistment —————————— My partner introduced me to Seventeen when we started dating. I’ve heard about them before, but I listen to a lot ot things and lowkey listen to kpop. I’m also an ELF and ARMY, but I haven’t done as much as compared to being a Carat — we’ve gone to a concert together, bought merch for ourselves and each other, watched GoSe, discussed music videos and performances in depth, shared memes, etc etc. I appreciate everyone — my bias is Wonwoo and Dino is my bias wrecker, but they stan Woozi and Hoshi HAAAAAARD. They say they’re not parasocial to the point of that they ship themselves to Woozi, and that seems to be true, but any news about HxW affects them so much to the point that some of our close friends ask me if I’m okay with it. For the record, I am not…which is why I’m posting here, if I was honest. My partner’s birthday was in February, and the video greetings for Carats in Weverse had Woozi and came out while we were on a date, but somehow they were happier and more excited for the greeting instead of being mentally present for the day I prepared for. I’ve never been their wallpaper, social media post, nothing, but their posts and wallpapers are very often Woozi/Howoo-related things. Even their best friend mentioned that I was very similar to Woozi (small but muscular fairy build, intelligent, nonchalant, authoritative, and usually refuses skinships unless it’s with safe people) which I’ve actually also mentioned before…And they were like naaah. So their best friend and I looked at each other in a sort of “fam u blind or smth?” 🙃 It’s been so bad for a while now that while I appreciate Hoshi’s passion for movement and choreography, and Woozi’s music production skills and vocal range, they both annoy me. Hoshi in a “why do you have too much energy, you are too much for me” way, Woozi in a “why can’t I be more like you and maybe my partner will be proud enough that she’ll also flex me” way. I don’t think they realize that it’s making me feel that I have to measure up to this talented, attractive, gifted guy to feel like I am worth their attention. Like I have to be as skilled as a kpop idol for people to know that she actually has a partner. I think one of the worst days was today, when I was bracing myself for potentially life-changing medical news in the worst way. Thankfully things turned out much, much better than everyone expected, and no one saw that coming. But for the rest of the day, there’s just posts about HxW enlisting soon and she seems really sad about that, but only the bare minimum about comforting and reassuring me even in private (because honestly, the relief really hasn’t sank in yet and I’ve shared that with them). I understand that a lot of these are my insecurities coming out, but I’ve told this to them and they basically just interpret it as “Seventeen/Woozi/HxW makes me happy, and when you say that, it feels like I’m not allowed to enjoy them to make me happy”, when my point is “I also enjoy them, but if you can post about HxW often, then maybe you can post about having a partner sometimes as well?” So eventually we just drop the conversation because we’re both frustrated. 😔 But anyway, if your partner’s ult biases were enlisting soon, how can I best comfort my partner? I know of an HxW fan event in a few hours so I was thinking of dropping by soon to get her fan merch, maybe a Ppyopuli plush which she mentioned would be nice, or perhaps other ideas? Because I know that while I currently I do not have the psychological and emotional bandwidth to deal with their parasocial relationship/s, I also know that any news related to HxW’s enlistment makes them very sad and seemingly depressed. I already had to deal with them being extra sad when she missed the HxW fancons as we currently cannot afford to fly overseas to attend, this despite everything else in their life going okay. So I was hoping to find a way to comfort them while respecting my boundaries at the same time — if that’s even possible. submitted by /u/nurung-uji [link] [comments]
Just came across this and it came with a link to an audition site. Apparently they have a group called "Xoomi" which I never heard of. Anyways I am thinking of auditioning for fun and since I am going to guess it may be hard to find, here is the link: https://forms.gle/6z29wv9jbA2ageLw6 It's six members and it is online? (confused) but maybe it will be fun! submitted by /u/Far-Lab-9945 [link] [comments]

sorry i wasn't sure how to title this im not like HUNTING FOR INFORMATION but more looking for something my friend told me about but i can't find any mention of online they said that Jooyi was given many lines in their songs but didn't feature as much in the music videos because the company didn't think she was as pretty as the other members they can't remember where they saw it either 3 does anyone know if there is a source online anywhere about this, or if it was more of a theory rather than something with solid evidence thank you (also, if there is a better subreddit for this, could someone redirect me there?) submitted by /u/jay_saihara [link] [comments]
I'm aware there are many newer groups out there with similar situations. I'm using H2H as an example because I just came across a video that said the group only has one member who graduated high school out of eight. Carmen, the Indonesian member, is the only one. Then you have Stella, who dropped out of high school, and the remaining six all dropped out of middle school. That's six out of eight who didn't even finish middle school. Like what? Being an idol may last seven to ten years at best (assuming they are successful), which is only a small fraction of one’s entire life. Sacrificing nearly a decade of youth without receiving compulsory education or basic schooling just for that brief burst of fame feels so problematic. Without fundamental knowledge, formative school experiences, and the social and historical awareness gained during those years, you're at risk of missing out on the very foundation that shapes a well-rounded person. Without minimal education, it WILL cause serious issues later in adult life. I used to think all idols should graduate high school. I don't even expect that anymore. At the very least, completing middle school should be essential, since it not only covers academics but also teaches how to build relationships among peers, interact socially, and develop crucial common sense. I know that being an idol relies heavily on things like looks, talent, and charisma, but even all of those things can be overshadowed by a single careless remark or uninformed action that can cause irreparable damages to your image and career, things proper education helps prevent. I’ve seen people online dismiss this issue with comments like, “Who cares? They’re going to make more money than the average person ever will,” or “Jealous fans are just pretending to care.” But if you’re truly a fan, this is exactly the kind of thing you should be concerned about for your favorite artist. And let’s be realistic here. Most groups don’t end up wildly successful. The ones you see making headlines are only the lucky select few. What about all the trainees and idols who sacrifice their entire youth chasing this dream, only to end up in their mid-twenties with no savings and no education or skills to fall back on in Korea’s hyper-competitive society? Who's gonna take responsibility for them? The labels? Hell no. The labels and parents who enable this are mostly at fault here, but fans who accept this as the “norm” aren’t helping either. I just hope it doesn’t get to the point where people become so desensitized that no one cares anymore. Wait, now that I think about it, I think it already has... submitted by /u/Organic-Cranberry955 [link] [comments]
I know a lot of people stay away from fandoms, or even the online K-pop scene in general, because of how toxic it can get. Honestly, that kinda sucks for me, because I actually enjoy talking to people who share the same interests. And since concerts from groups I really like only happen maybe once a year here, online spaces are the only way I can talk with other K-pop fans. So yeah, how do you guys avoid the toxic side? submitted by /u/Striking-Meal-5257 [link] [comments]
im scrolling twitter and i see pics and videos of jungkook just now at the recent calvin klein nyfw show. he looks good as usual, but besides the point. and i notice all the screaming fans that were waiting for him to arrive. now, im used to seeing this whenever i watch these idol fashion show clips but this time it really got me thinking. how do fans know exactly where these fashion shows are/ where these idols will appear?? i was curious and tried to search on google and twitter to find where the ck fashion show was and i found nothing. after intensive digging i found the location but it was only after the show has already finished. and it wasn't somewhere obvious like the ck hq or something. are these so called fans (*ahem* stalkers) paying the paps to give them the info? but in the case of Jungkook, there were SO many fans there, they couldn’t possibly ALL have bribed paps or official sources for the info, right?? Genuinely how do they find this information, esp since he was apparently announced to be at the show literally like a day or two ago. i know im jobless, but im not THIS jobless. submitted by /u/Spirited_Account_252 [link] [comments]
I already knew it wasn't gonna be everyone's cup of tea because other than the title track, it's not what you think of when you hear the word "Kpop." All of it is such a 180 from what she's been doing for most of her life, and it makes me so happy that she did her own thing and nailed it 💯 I'm a sucker for this alternative indie style music, whether we talk Korean, Japanese, English, or any other language. Every song was so dreamy and chill. My favorite was RIBBON cuz I loved the instrumental and how its flow shifts from the rest of the album, and Sumin's feature was also a total chef's kiss. Closing the album with a song like My Guitar was actually a great choice imo and was giving heavy Meaningful Stone vibes. Also, more than anything, what makes it truly amazing overall is that it's ALL HER. Seeing her go this creative, I just know even when she leaves JYPE in the future, Twice becomes inactive, or maybe she decides not to be an idol anymore eventually, she'll do just fine as a decent indie artist if she wants to continue making music. Never thought I'd be saying this, but Lil Fantasy might be my favorite Twice solo just because I don't consider it Kpop. Which one's my favorite within the Kpop genre is another discussion LOL Hope everyone who's into this type of music can appreciate this album, and I wish her the best 🫶 submitted by /u/beelzebub2099 [link] [comments]
