Idk where to post this so Im putting it here So I'm in uni rn and it was syllabus week, so I'm meeting all my classmates for the first time. Anyways, I have a bunch of skzoo and aniteez stickers on my laptop, mostly because I wanted cute stickers but also because I was hoping they I could make k pop friends this way lol. Well, It finally happened! A girl sitting in front of me asked me "who's your bias" and I was so confused for a sec. I completely forgot about the stickers but as soon as I remembered them, I was like "Ive been waiting for this moment!" Haha. Anyways, I had a really nice conversation with her during our class break and found out we're both more into stray kids more than ateez (still love them both tho) and I've technically met my first k pop friend in person!! Im very excited to see where this goes (also shes not a crazy obsessed fan or anything, which makes me really happy lol) submitted by /u/Lavender512 [link] [comments]

32. How do idols even handle the hate?

  • 6 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Not even the massive hate trains but the "usual" amount (which feels way more intense than what Western celebs receive). I know they probably have therapists and they can lean on members/friends/family but at a certain point it can only help so much. submitted by /u/trivialfrost [link] [comments]

33. [TOWN HALL] MOD INTROS, RULES TALK

Hello Thinkers! This is a long one... First up: when I wrote this post, I used rich text editor to bold some of the headings. Also, dashes are just part of my normal punctuation. I promise this isn't AI. Moving on... In this post, we're going to introduce a new mod - and reintroduce the old ones, for all our new users. To do this, we all answered the same questions: Name/Job-or-Study? What group/s do you stan? Who's your ult? How'd you get into kpop? After, we'll give you some information about the sub rule and banned topics. First up - welcome to our new mod: Penta_verse Hi I’m KJ. I’m a Criminology major and have been into KPOP for 10 years. My ults are Pentagon, I-DLE, CLC and 4Minute which means hating Cube is my entire personality. I’ve also been following XLOV lately and casually listen to a lot of other groups. And our old mods: reallyn0tme Hi, i’m nasi. I’m the attack dog of the team and I will protect my babies if anyone tries anything with them 🫶🏼I study political science and strategic management. My first experience with kpop was SHINee’s Lucifer and it was life changing. I was into BTS all the way back in 2013, but then emo happened, and My Chemical Romance. These days, I ult NCT 127 and Stray Kids, with Jaehyun and Bang Chan as my ults respectively. Rachelmig2 Hi everyone! I’m Rachel, I’m an attorney that does mostly domestic violence and child law. I’ve been into kpop since 2019, and am very unfortunately a survival show enthusiast, so my favorite groups are ZB1, Kep1er, TripleS (who has many survival show alums), and of course the good ol’ group that got me into kpop, Monsta X. I’m also a big fan of Izna, WJSN, Chuu, Jo Yuri, and ARTMS. I go to a ton of concerts so I’ve seen a huge amount of groups live, and am always up to chat about them! I do my best to be open and honest with people regarding moderation, and am always open to feedback on how to improve the sub. lucichameleon I'm Luci. I studied Political Science/International Relations at uni. I'm not really a stan of anything, more a multi-casual. I don't watch lives or buy merch or follow idols on socmed or whatever. I listen the most to Stray Kids. Other groups on my playlists are SVT, BTS, ENHYPEN, NMIXX, BLACKPINK, Red Velvet, LE SSERAFIM and aespa. I first listened to kpop around 2014-ish with 2NE1, but really got into it after watching The Untamed, with Wang Yibo. I listened to UNIQ and wanted more. csiqueiros15 Hello, I’m Cici! I studied physics and music and now work in astronomy. My ult group was NU’EST (rip), but my favorite active group is Stray Kids ❤️. I got into kpop back in 2010 when I saw SHINee’s Ring Ding Dong MV at my local comicon (kpop v. jpop panel). I’ve been obsessed ever since! Future-Firefighter62 Hey everyone! I’m Vivi! I am a musician and I also study music production and recording engineering. My current ults are Stray Kids, but I’m a huge multistan and listen to almost every group out there, old and new! I got into KPOP after seeing EXO and CL’s performances at the 2018 Winter Olympics, and my first ults were BTS, BP, and TWICE! Agentariana Hi I’m Ari. I studied international affairs in college and have the weird history of getting into kpop 3 separate times before it stuck. The first was in 2011ish when I saw a local news interest story about a local kid who joined a kpop group that were having a concert (U-KISS). During that era I listened to a lot of SHINee, EXO and BIGBANG, the second time was in 2015ish when BTS was blowing up and the third was 2019ish when I found NCT. NCT Dream are my ults, but I listen to a lot of different groups: ZB1, CYE, Stray Kids, izna and Kep1er are just some of the groups I listen to frequently. Like Rachel, I am a survival show junkie (name a show and there is a good chance I have watched it) and like Nasi I had an emo/pop punk era leading to a very eclectic playlist. In the comments... how about you? How did you get into kpop, what groups do you listen to, who is your ult and why? Now - on to the sub news! A while ago, we overhauled our sub rules in response to feedback from you guys. You wanted fewer locked posts and removals and more leniency when it came to negative opinions. We've done our best to address that. First, we lifted the number of reports that would see a post auto-locked by a lot. When we lock a post - which isn't usual - we always pin a comment to say why. We've also been trying to leave contentious opinions - as long as they're not insulting or obviously back-handed - alone, so that discussion isn't just... I don't know, a heap of forced positivity. Regarding Rule 5: No Low Effort Content, if you post a poll please also spark some discussion by writing something to explain what and why you are polling. When we introduced the rule overhaul, we specified that copy-pasting news articles with little-to-no commentary was low effort, but we're still getting a fair few of those type of posts. Firstly, news goes on r/kpop and secondly, just copy-pasting really is low effort. If you want to discuss something, rather than just dumping the article, write a post about what's happened and what you think about it, then link the news at the end. But remember: no X! Musk's sweaty paws aren't invited. We also do our best to only remove comments that are being malicious. I'm sure we sometimes get it wrong. The rules of the sub hadn't changed much for a long time, so sometimes we still do things the old way out of habit. Please note, calling other users insane or telling them that they are mentally ill for their opinions is an insult and will be treated as such. There are two rules of the sub that get automatic temp bans - Rule 1 (no insults) and Rule 11 (no censoring of words). If there are enough characters left (rule length is limited) we will add text to standardise the length of these bans. Also, it's not uncommon for people to use gifs or emojis or roundabout phrasing to talk about banned topics. Discussions with the OP talking about 'a certain fandom' or 'a certain topic' are just going to be taken down. Half the discussion turns into a debate about what the OP meant. Say what you are talking about. If you can't because it would break sub rules, then don't say it at all. We're going to start temp banning people for posting about topics that are clearly on our banned list as well, because that's just annoying. Now - speaking of banned topics. We're going to add two. The first is not because it's bad or contentious, but because it's stale as fuck. Minors debuting/sexualisation of minors. Yes minors are a problem, no it is not going to change and no someone is not evil for liking an idol that debuted as long as they are not a weirdo. The posts are always the same and we're going to start taking them down. The second is also a stale topic, and its discussions on whether kpop-adjacent groups are kpop or not. We had the discussion, and it was decided - yes, people want to discuss kpop-adjacent groups here. If you don't want to discuss them, ignore the posts. And finally: the sub’s banner. You probably noticed that it stayed the same for ages and hasn’t been changing much at all. That’s because the mod who did them isn’t modding anymore. But, Luci’s taken it over. She begs forgiveness because she’s not very good at art or design. Luci wants to showcase some lesser known and/or older groups in the banner for a while. The next banner is going to be for Apink. Comment to suggest some other groups or soloists that you would like to see in the sub’s banner! submitted by /u/KpopThoughtsmodteam [link] [comments]

36. How much social media hate trains influence us?

  • 7 hours ago schedule

It seems like this is now a right of passage for every idol that is at one point or another beloved by both the media and the public. Then suddenly x/tiktok decides to hate them. I wonder if here, since we're on a uncensored sub, does these viral hate trains affect your relationship with these songs? 1 - Do you usually join it too (HATE TRAINS)? 2 - Are you on X and these viral posts there - do they change how you consume music? 3 - Can we separe the art from the artist? just wanted to hear your thoughts. submitted by /u/Small-Classic-3665 [link] [comments]

39. Individual idols kpop stans love to say are overrated (but they’re not)

  • 8 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Obviously taste is subjective, but everyone knows at least one idol who’s crazy talented or has insane presence but kpop stans still love to call them ‘overrated/overhyped’ just because of personal taste, stan twitter beef, etc (I’m talking about petty/dumb reasons here, not legit performance critique) Like I don’t think an idol needs to fit my personal tastes of what I'd consider good music/performance for me to acknowledge that they’re hyped up for a reason. An example for me is someone like Wonyoung, anyone denying her IT factor is crazy. Is her voice or style of performing usually what I’d gravitate toward? No. But that doesn’t mean she’s a bad performer by any means (every performance I've seen of her she's on 100% idol energy) - her style just isn’t my personal preference. You still have to give kudos where kudos is due, even if it’s not to your taste. Please tell me this made sense lmao submitted by /u/-puca- [link] [comments]

43. idols need to realise when they can’t hit notes

  • 8 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

in my opinion idol needs to stay in their ranges, like u are not trained enough to be hitting those types of vocals, now they’ve just ruined the song by trying to do some big fancy thing that didn’t work out, now you sound really strained or really nasally, even in the live vocals, like please dont, like once or a few times is not a big thing were human but every single time, u cannot hit that note and u should stop trying. i like lily from nmixx cuz i feel she knows her range, like she can hit those notes, she can and she knows she can, i enjoy that, she can hit those higher notes and some people cannot and thats okay. other groups stay in the vocal range their comfortable with and dont need to putting big jazz hands in their vocal for example newjeans, they stick in their range and they know it works and i like that, it confidence in their vocals, it’s simple and it’s nice. they done big thing but it still works cuz they know they can do it and it still works.i dont know if they can hit those notes or not and that’s fine if they can’t. another example is siyeon from dreamcatcher she can do those big notes, hit them amazingly and outperform because she knows she can do it, she knows it’s in her range and i like that. but there are just some idols where it just looks painful when trying to do a big note/belt, like i can see the blood vessel in ur neck, stop before u pop it, u are turning red, no when to quit while ur ahead submitted by /u/Worth_Wallaby5387 [link] [comments]

Honestly, I don't follow BGs at all. I have been in this since Miss A and it's always been about GGs for me. This is not me saying BGs are bad, just that they are not my taste. I had always listened to male driven RnB and Neo KPop. But, never BGs. But, ok, That might change with Cortis. I get it, finally. submitted by /u/Final_Remains [link] [comments]

46. UNIS to release Japanese single “Moshi Moshi” on Sept 12 – what would make you check them out?

As a fan, I’m definitely looking forward to it, but I wanted to ask people here who might not follow them closely: *Do Japanese or English versions ever make you check out a rookie group for the first time? *What usually gets your attention... the MV concept, choreography, vocals, or the members’ personality? *Does having multiple versions (JP + ENG) make you more curious about a group? submitted by /u/mountainofbo0ks [link] [comments]

47. If girl groups from the West were on K-pop companies - what companies would they be signed on and which member would be the most popular in South Korea?

  • 9 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

As the title says if girl groups from the West (American, British etc.) were global girl groups on a K-pop company ala KATSEYE, what companies would you place them on? For me; Destiny's Child would be SM because they're focused on powerful vocals and they sing in unison like SM groups, TLC would be YG submitted by /u/jdpm1991 [link] [comments]
