Instead of using TWICE to come for BLACKPINK, why don’t non-ONCEs just support TWICE?

It’s honestly so strange how often people who aren’t even ONCEs will jump into TWICE-related content just to make digs at BLACKPINK. But the truth is, those people aren’t supporting TWICE because they actually care about them, they’re just using TWICE as a tool to bash another group. It just feels kinda disrespectful to not just Blackpink but to TWICE as well, who deserves better than performative praise. submitted by /u/Expert_Judgment726 [link] [comments]

4.361. is it weird to connect more with an idol if they’re closer to my age?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I just had this thought that I notice that I tend to gravitate towards members if they’re especially around my age??? which is usually maknae members, but like, not just ALL maknaes. For reference, I’m born 08, so like a maknae from say a 3rd gen group wouldn’t make a difference to me as the oldest member because either way theyre most likely born in the 90s. But for 4th/5th gen groups I feel like I always have this subconscious bias towards members that are born like 2005-2009 😭 if im going into a group mindful of when the members are born before stanning I feel like I’m often (but not always !!) gonna end up picking the youngest member, or even second youngest for some, to be my bias regardless of if their specific talents appeals to me a ton. its kinda like my brain already likes them lmaoaoa Anyway, is this sorta weird? I don’t wanna come off as brushing off other members because they’re older than me by a lot of years, especially cause i see most people stan their bias regardless of age gap. I just sometimes feel more comfortable with idols that are in my specific age range ig??? submitted by /u/hachune01 [link] [comments]

Be Natural was such a good song from S.E.S and even better when Red Velvet re-released it. Now seeing Ningning from aespa cover it, i wonder why SM didnt make any of their 2nd gen girl groups cover it. What do you guys think?? especially because of smtown and everything like to have all of their girl groups perform the same song would've been cool. submitted by /u/Beneficial_Rule_85 [link] [comments]

4.366. So, Super Junior is Totally Pissed Off at SM. What Happens Next?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Long story short, Super Junior is celebrating their 20th Year. They came out with a banger/slapper song. Heechul rejoined after 10yrs and danced the whole choreography. They went on all top TV and radio shows and made so much noise. ELF,the fandom, went all out -- evem those hiding from their caves went all out -- They won all pre-votes by a landslide, beating other groups like Black Pink, Twice, Babymonster. They bought albums, streamed.... scores and points were great. It was a reachable win. BUT SM fucked up and they scheduled their appearances at a time when the tracking period was over. They lost, primarily on "broadcast points". Despite the views on their performances we're high, their name(s) viral for days, they won/scored high enough on other criteria, but the broadcast points weight is greater. That dragged down their overall score. They didn't win any award. Leeteuk: I am mad. I even prepared for the winning speech if we get 1st place, but the elfs did so well & worked hard. Scream today with all your anger from yesterday! I usually don't complain, I'm scary when I'm angry 😂 but I've talked to them, the members also agree. Heechul: It's not the fault of staff at center 5. They all worked very hard. The problem is the one top. If you want to swear, swear at them (higher-ups of the company). When my contract ends, Eunhyuk's ODE Ent. will accept me Eunhyuk: there is no signing bonus. Heechul: Oh you won't give me money? it's the same as my company right now. Eunhyuk posted on BBL several emojis from sad to crying.to upset to extremely Angry. Yesung said on IG Live: Don't watch SMTown! Just watch Super Show! Kyuhyun did crying gestures on their last MusicCore performance. submitted by /u/arcieghi [link] [comments]

4.367. When you hit a K‑pop night at the club, what do you actually want to hear — originals, EDM remixes, or a mix?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’ve been in the Bay Area for a few months now and I’ve been checking out a lot of DJs who play K‑pop. Some lean hard into EDM‑style remixes — the big drops, mashups, all that — but I keep noticing a pattern: after a while, they lose the room. Personally, I’ve been thinking maybe the better approach is to treat it like a show. For example: Do 30–60 minutes of your own high‑energy edits and remixes to really put your stamp on it. Then switch gears and run through the crowd favorites in full to keep everyone engaged and singing along. But I’m curious how you see it. If you go out to K‑pop nights, what do you actually want from the DJ? Mostly original tracks played all the way through? Mostly remixes and high‑energy transitions? Or a combo, like I described? I’ve also heard people say the K‑pop crowd isn’t necessarily tuned in to “DJ tricks” — so maybe selection and reading the room matter way more than showing off really good transitions or whatever/ Would love to hear your opinions. What makes a K‑pop night at the club amazing for you? submitted by /u/DJJonOfficial [link] [comments]

4.371. I've been really impressed and satisfied with the level of effort and creativity that Bighit is putting in TXT's upcoming comeback

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

For context, TXT will be releasing an album on 21st July (pls tune in everyone✨️), and so far, the level of attention and creativity that Bighit has put into this comeback is really impressive! Obviously, it's their job, but I will give credit where credit is due and say they have been doing great! Now, apart from the conventional pre-comeback content like the magnificent concept trailer, stunning concept photos ( Afterglow, Starlight, Etched & Awake ), concept clips ( Afterglow, Starlight, Etched ), beautiful album versions/design(https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/s/O2h2JFZP4J), etc., they have done some unconventional and creative things that they have never done before for a TXT album. Firstly, this album includes solo songs, and we are getting music videos for all the solo songs. (See the teasers here: Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun & Hueningkai.) Secondly, one of the album versions includes tarot cards, and because of that, TXT created a customized tarot reading website using the cards. Thirdly, they released an 2-episode mystery-drama-suspense variety show titled Hello Strangers (See Episode 1 & 2 here). According to Bighit, the show depicts the struggles of boys who have left their safe haven as they confront past conflicts and crises. It was planned based on the narrative of their upcoming album. The production team for this series includes the writer of the popular Korean mystery show Crime Scene, writers from Crime Scene Zero, and the filming crew of Netflix's Physical: 100. Insane! The show was really nice wnd TXT members really tried their best in acting😂. The last episode ended with a brief news segment about an unknown object that was sighted falling through the sky to somewhere in Korea This leads to the 4th point where they created a countdown website that is a bit interactive and makes it seem like you're monitoring the earth and using coordinate to detect or find something. The website updated every day and pretty soon, it started showing coordinates to a "strange object" which labeled near Gangnam station. The strange object was a huge "bazooka-rocket" thingy that Bighit constructed near Gangnam station as part of their promo for TXT's album. (Link to an article with the image for those without Twitter). They also shared the info that a light signal from the object will be activated every night from 9 PM to 10 PM KST until the album release day. MOAs can go there with their light sticks to catch the signal and sync their light to the bazooka on the 19th and 20th. The fact that Bighit is really committing to the bit and the storyline of this album is really so impressive! TXT have assured us that they have a lot of things prepared for this comeback and that we should look forward to them, and as a fan, I’ve been sooooo excited! I genuinely hope BigHit continues the push, the effort, the promo, and everything that they rightfully deserve. For those who haven't seen it, here are the two mv teasers for the title track Beautiful Strangers and you can also listen to the album preview here For MOAs, what are you most excited about? For casuals and non-fans, you can just share your general thoughts about the comeback here submitted by /u/ilovemeeeeee [link] [comments]

4.372. I had a very parasocial experience. Any tips?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

So for starters, I already know this is gonna have a lot of down votes cause if I read this I’d probably down vote it. I was scrolling through TikTok and saw a dating rumor with an idol and I felt slightly disappointed. Once I analyzed the emotion, I shut off my phone for an hour, did some hard thinking, unfollowed the male idol, put the photo cards and albums in an old memory box I had, and took the music off my playlist for at least the time being. I’ve joked around like “that’s my husband😝😝😝”, but never actually thought that was a statement grounded in reality. However, after my disappointment scare, I’ve noticed that I’ve been falling asleep to fake scenarios between me and this idol. I didn’t even realize until this happened cause I fall asleep relatively fast. I’m very embarrassed to admit this. I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and how they navigated this level of delusion. I’ve never had a true “crush” on a celebrity until now and I think it is the start of something unhealthy. I’d like to discontinue now lol. Also, no, I didn’t write a hate comment on the post about the idol…that’s weird. I did, however, write a hate comment in my diary about myself. #stayhumble or something idk😭 submitted by /u/Clueto [link] [comments]

4.373. Watching BLACKPINK’s “Jump,” with the KPopCast podcast all stars. I kept asking: is this CGI or AI?

Just joined the latest episode of the Kpopcast to break down BLACKPINK’s surprise comeback Jump (produced by Diplo and Teddy). We went deep on the Euro‑club influences, that crazy Spider‑Verse style video, and how this track feels like a spiritual successor to Boombayah but pushed into hard‑style / Baltimore‑club territory. 🎧 Full episode here: https://youtu.be/qoO2scpA4qI?si=qEreYUydpkHc28he As a DJ, I’m already plotting how to flip this live — the energy is insane. But we also touched on some spicy takes: Did YG rush this release? Are the AI/CGI elements in the MV crossing a line? Is this the sound BLACKPINK should lean into for their 10th year? 🔥 What do you think? ➡️ Did Jump hit for you or miss? ➡️ Do you want BLACKPINK pushing deeper into this sound, or back to something like Pink Venom? 4.377. WE NEED TO START TREATING KPOP SINGERS 'NORMALLY'

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This is a huge problem in the k-pop industry, I feel like we are treating them like dolls, less of people. Mainly the fans, the record label plays a part, but the fans do not make it any better. It is insane how we see them as 'gods' and call them 'idols' like there gifts from heaven, they are HUMAN. And some, not all fans get that. They are allowed to date, to do mistakes, to smoke, to drink. If you can do all that why can't other people do it? Because their a celebrities? They have talent, not some sort of magical power. It frustrates me so much when I see people like Seunghan get bullied and harassed for simple things the Western culture doesn't even mind. Charli XCX wrote a song about doing drugs and the world stays the same! But the moment their married and have kids it's insane! Something else that NEEDS to be stop is the fan calls! I love them so much, and I'd love to call them and get to know them to! But we can not do that when your asking, (an example) Felix from SKZ to MEOW for you! Or when you ask (I forgot who) to MARRY YOU! No! That is not normal! It's weird! If you want to hear a call from them, respect them and their boundaries! The companies should set that before sending them, saying if they do anything weird, you get kicked out! Maybe they already did, I'm not really good on this subject but it's bothering me so much! That is not normal behavior! That is called a PARASOCIAL RELATIONSHIP! (a one-sided, non-reciprocal bond that a person develops with a media figure, such as a celebrity, fictional character, or online influencer). Some fans need to wake up! THEY ARE HUMANS! THEY HAVE LIVES! BEFORE AND AFTER FAME! I know unbelivable! (SARCASM) PLUS YOU DONT NEED TO KNOW THEIR WEIGHT OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT! JUST ENJOY THE MUSIC! THATS WHAT THEIR HERE FOR! NOT FOR YOU GLAZERS TO ACT LIKE THEIR GOD! submitted by /u/FinanceFamous608 [link] [comments]
