is it weird to connect more with an idol if they’re closer to my age?

cw: talks of weight, fatphobia Lowkey this may be because ive been on twitter a lot lately but the way Enhypen is CONSISTENTLY the only group that gets dragged to hell and back for fatphobia is so??? confusing to me?? A lot of mainstream kpop groups in the current industry have had members that have had said something fatphobic, either in general or directly to another member (seriously the amount of idols that have straight up called another member a pig is insane) but without fail, Enhypen is the ONLY group that I see consistently get whacked for it, and its just?? So confusing as to WHY This is not me trying to excuse any fatphobia by the way, I do think that groups and specific members should be held accountable. Though when people will say something about Enhypen fat-shaming Sunoo, but then turn around and praise another group that has said something either to the same degree or worse it just completely comes off as non-genuine and more like you’re using gotcha points to win a fan-war, if you get what I mean? It’s a different conversation if you’re holding both Enhypen AND the group you enjoy accountable, but when you bash one group and actively praise the other when they both have the same issue it comes off as incredibly performative. The actual amount of worry that people seem to have for Sunoo being actually bullied by his members is so little and how weight is treated as a topic just seems SO inauthentic. submitted by /u/hachune01 [link] [comments]

I just had this thought that I notice that I tend to gravitate towards members if they’re especially around my age??? which is usually maknae members, but like, not just ALL maknaes. For reference, I’m born 08, so like a maknae from say a 3rd gen group wouldn’t make a difference to me as the oldest member because either way theyre most likely born in the 90s. But for 4th/5th gen groups I feel like I always have this subconscious bias towards members that are born like 2005-2009 😭 if im going into a group mindful of when the members are born before stanning I feel like I’m often (but not always !!) gonna end up picking the youngest member, or even second youngest for some, to be my bias regardless of if their specific talents appeals to me a ton. its kinda like my brain already likes them lmaoaoa Anyway, is this sorta weird? I don’t wanna come off as brushing off other members because they’re older than me by a lot of years, especially cause i see most people stan their bias regardless of age gap. I just sometimes feel more comfortable with idols that are in my specific age range ig??? submitted by /u/hachune01 [link] [comments]
Ok atinys and carats we really need to make up our minds guys are we TINYRATS or CARATINYS or we both like are we caratinys when our favs interact(which they never do) and when we support each other during like comeback season, voting those type of things or are we tinyrats when we are being weird in a good way( cos yall can be weird)😂😂.......atz and svt are my ults so am in both fandoms but we really need clarity cos we cant have ppl arguing in comment section about what we are called I vote TINYRATS its just unique 🙋♂️ submitted by /u/Own-Individual7352 [link] [comments]
Be Natural was such a good song from S.E.S and even better when Red Velvet re-released it. Now seeing Ningning from aespa cover it, i wonder why SM didnt make any of their 2nd gen girl groups cover it. What do you guys think?? especially because of smtown and everything like to have all of their girl groups perform the same song would've been cool. submitted by /u/Beneficial_Rule_85 [link] [comments]

^ sorry if tag doesn’t fit i wasn’t quite sure which one to put this in just being a bit curious, which japanese idol(s) are the most popular in their homeland? id figure companies would market japanese idols towards japan often but i think its 50/50 if they really click with the japanese market or not submitted by /u/hachune01 [link] [comments]
Long story short, Super Junior is celebrating their 20th Year. They came out with a banger/slapper song. Heechul rejoined after 10yrs and danced the whole choreography. They went on all top TV and radio shows and made so much noise. ELF,the fandom, went all out -- evem those hiding from their caves went all out -- They won all pre-votes by a landslide, beating other groups like Black Pink, Twice, Babymonster. They bought albums, streamed.... scores and points were great. It was a reachable win. BUT SM fucked up and they scheduled their appearances at a time when the tracking period was over. They lost, primarily on "broadcast points". Despite the views on their performances we're high, their name(s) viral for days, they won/scored high enough on other criteria, but the broadcast points weight is greater. That dragged down their overall score. They didn't win any award. Leeteuk: I am mad. I even prepared for the winning speech if we get 1st place, but the elfs did so well & worked hard. Scream today with all your anger from yesterday! I usually don't complain, I'm scary when I'm angry 😂 but I've talked to them, the members also agree. Heechul: It's not the fault of staff at center 5. They all worked very hard. The problem is the one top. If you want to swear, swear at them (higher-ups of the company). When my contract ends, Eunhyuk's ODE Ent. will accept me Eunhyuk: there is no signing bonus. Heechul: Oh you won't give me money? it's the same as my company right now. Eunhyuk posted on BBL several emojis from sad to crying.to upset to extremely Angry. Yesung said on IG Live: Don't watch SMTown! Just watch Super Show! Kyuhyun did crying gestures on their last MusicCore performance. submitted by /u/arcieghi [link] [comments]
I’ve been in the Bay Area for a few months now and I’ve been checking out a lot of DJs who play K‑pop. Some lean hard into EDM‑style remixes — the big drops, mashups, all that — but I keep noticing a pattern: after a while, they lose the room. Personally, I’ve been thinking maybe the better approach is to treat it like a show. For example: Do 30–60 minutes of your own high‑energy edits and remixes to really put your stamp on it. Then switch gears and run through the crowd favorites in full to keep everyone engaged and singing along. But I’m curious how you see it. If you go out to K‑pop nights, what do you actually want from the DJ? Mostly original tracks played all the way through? Mostly remixes and high‑energy transitions? Or a combo, like I described? I’ve also heard people say the K‑pop crowd isn’t necessarily tuned in to “DJ tricks” — so maybe selection and reading the room matter way more than showing off really good transitions or whatever/ Would love to hear your opinions. What makes a K‑pop night at the club amazing for you? submitted by /u/DJJonOfficial [link] [comments]

It’s honestly so strange how often people who aren’t even ONCEs will jump into TWICE-related content just to make digs at BLACKPINK. But the truth is, those people aren’t supporting TWICE because they actually care about them, they’re just using TWICE as a tool to bash another group. It just feels kinda disrespectful to not just Blackpink but to TWICE as well, who deserves better than performative praise. submitted by /u/Expert_Judgment726 [link] [comments]
