This megathread is about the ongoing dispute within HYBE and the management of sub-label ADOR. Substantial news developments may be posted to the subreddit (outside of the Megathreads). Articles / Timeline 250422 This day marks one year since HYBE launched their audit of Min Hee Jin and ADOR's management. Happy(?) 1st anniversary of the Megathreads! 250502 The 3rd hearing for Min Hee Jin vs. Belift Lab was set to take place but postponed to July 18th at Belift Lab's request. Each side is due to present their arguments/documents regarding plagiarism issues at the next meeting. (Source: Maeil Kyungjae) 250530 We learned that ADOR had filed for 'indirect enforcement' after their injunction was granted and NewJeans performed at ComplexCon back in March (Filed on April 4th according to the statement from NewJeans' representatives linked below). On the 30th, the 52nd Division of the Seoul Central District court further granted this request. The 'indirect enforcement' ruling means that each individual member of NewJeans will be fined 1 billion won (approx. $725,000) if they continue with entertainment activities independent of ADOR, which would be in violation of the injunction. This enforcement with potential fines does NOT apply to any of NewJeans' independent activities between the granting of the injunction and the granting of this 'indirect enforcement'. These fines will only apply to future activities going forward, or at least until rulings with NewJeans' appeal or the main contract validity case changes anything (next hearing on June 5th). (Source: Chosun Biz, MK Sports) The Korea Herald: Court orders NewJeans to pay Ador 1 billion won for each unauthorized activity Discussion Post Korea JoongAng Daily: Court orders NewJeans members to pay ADOR $725,600 for every independent entertainment activity A statement by NewJeans' representatives was made later in the day primarily acknowledging the indirect enforcement ruling, but reiterating that it is temporary and will no longer have an effect if NewJeans win their appeal of the injunction. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. (Sources: X Sport News, Maeil Kyungjae) 250612 The next hearing regarding the Shareholder Agreement termination and exercising put/call options lawsuits between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held at the Seoul Central District Court's 31st Division. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. (Sources: Maeil Kyungjae, TV Daily, Sports Today) 250617 Following up from April 16th when NewJeans appealed the court's decision to uphold the injunction and halt on their independent activities, the Seoul High Court reaffirmed the earlier decision. The court rejected NewJeans' appeal. They determined there was no significant change in the material/arguments presented for the appeal and the original decision to grant ADOR's injunction was justified. There was further clarification that the management conflict between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, and her no longer being NewJeans' producer, did not constitute a valid argument for the alleged collapse of trust between ADOR and NewJeans. The group's withdrawal from ADOR is considered arbitrary, that their artistic freedom or activity is not impeded since they are able to do so within their exclusive contract, and that any damages resulting from attempting independent activities are self-inflicted. I am not looking for bad high notes that ruin the song or anything, just completely pointless ones. Its ok if they are in the background. submitted by /u/SnooOranges829 [link] [comments]
Mnet blatantly plagiarised ateez with the poster, the song rhythm and even the performance the graffiti artist who made the poster is aware about this even the atee members are aware about it but mnet still hasn't said anything how ironic they invited san as a judge...it seems like ateez are real pirates always getting their treasure stolen š submitted by /u/Photosbyblinks [link] [comments]
i want to add a disclaimer that this is not a āpitting kpop and jpop against each otherā kind of post. I just recently have been going thru this shift so I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced it or something similar!! Iām a longtime kpop fan and have been since 2013. The past couple years as kpop has become more and more popular in western circles, Iāve been shifting with the new groups and changes that come about. But I (and I know others, based off posts iāve seen lately) have felt kind of turned-off to kpop recently due to how intense the international fandom space has become. Everything has felt like a competition, groups fans all hate each other, the importance on streams⦠I didnāt think too much on this until I accidentally started getting into jpop groups (HANA, Snow Man, etc) this year and it brought back so much nostalgia that i realized Iād been missing from kpop lately. The smaller international fan space has been really nice, it feels like when I was 15 and just getting into exo, digging through livejournal on my own for fansub content š. I find that opinions are also not as combatted and attacked because thereās a) simply less ifans to read them and b) thereās still at least some sense of politeness in the tight-knit fandom communities. Iām also enjoying less emphasis on things like perfect visuals and vocals/performances all the time. Now, with fashion week, iāve noticed that a lot of the japanese groups are attending shows and doing more international schedules!! What I wanted to ask is, has anyone been experiencing a similar shift? Is it possible jpop could come back as a popular genre/stanning space, influenced by k-popās growth this time? It seems like certain groups are definitely growing, and doing more and more overlap with kpop events (for example, snow man is going to perform at the music bank intl festival in japan as a special guest!). I know filo-pop is also experiencing growth, and Iād love to know more about the fandom experience there too! submitted by /u/sunveines [link] [comments]
DONāT GET ME WRONG, thereās been some good releases this year but there hasnāt been a single release that has my jaw DROPPED (compared to last year especially). I will take in account that we are only in september but I feel like there shouldāve been more than 3 really really good releases by now but there havenāt š¤·š¾āāļø. 2024 (and 2023) was definitely better in terms of music. I can name like at least 5 (in fact way more) Kpop songs that had me like speechless: Supernova, Armageddon, Supernatural, How Sweet, Heya, Accendio, Impossible, Supersonic, Cosmic, Magnetic, Tick Tack, APT, Rockstar, Mantra, TTYL, Super Lady, CRAZY, Loop and i know thereās way more but man we had SERIOUS and SOLID HITS last year. But this year like the only wowing releases were Like Jennie and literally KPDH. The rest are just meh. Other good releases or groups in general that wowed me imo were Jellyous, ADP and Cortis. The only group that Iām probably gonna keep on my list this year is Cortis, they are already amazing and i pray that their next comeback will also be as good as this debut era. You probably will guess how I feel about aespa. NewJeans is in court but they wouldāve guaranteed a good release letās be real š and IVE was also pretty good tbh. But itās very disappointing for me because last year i liked about 85% of releases. This year Iām gonna say i only liked about 20% of releases. It could also be that maybe Iām not stanning the right groups but I never usually just hang tight to one group I listen to most releases, even from groups i donāt stan. 2023 kpop was so peak but also lowkey peaceful like man i miss it so bad šš And i feel like people are gonna name nugu groups and iām so so sorry but thereās a reason why certain groups are or are going to stay nugu and thereās a reason why certain groups are big and are going to stay big. Anyways 2023-2024 definitely raised my standards but I will keep in mind that we still have 3 months of this year left and i know certain groups are yet to have a comeback (BND, Lsrfm and probably more). So I will still keep myself open but iām still quite disappointed and only have an ounce of hope for this year. Am I just not listening to enough groups or do you agree? submitted by /u/Head-Surprise-3156 [link] [comments]

Am I being too harsh for judging idols negatively when they donāt show any visible improvement after debut? I get that most idols have really tough schedules, but I donāt think itās impossible to hone your skills post debut. Weāve seen plenty of idols make steady improvements over the years, and some even make leaps and bounds. But when I see veteran idols who still show no noticeable growth in vocals or dance, it honestly turns me off. Maybe I'm being harsh, but I canāt help but feel like it shows a lack of professionalism and work ethic. Does anyone else feel the same way, or is it better to just view idols as a finished product once they debut? submitted by /u/GainImpressive8183 [link] [comments]

DIA ė¤ģ“ģ - ź·ø źøøģģ (On the road) Review: A nostalgic, heartfelt, cutesy song which might be written with a PINK Pen š©· I remember so many memories while finding this song at the deepest trench in my mind lol. This was DIA's signature. This song reminds us what KPOP's cute side was like back then. Similar to some GFRIEND and LOVELYZ songs, this song is a no-brainer good, too. From the positive instrumental it gives, to the wonderful melodies, it truly captivates the listener's heart. The MV is so simple and authentic. It is bright and dreamy at the same time. Member's visuals are on top. The MV locations are pretty. The choreo is pure and cute. My nickname for DIA back then is "Fairies of KPOP" (ā āæā ^ā āæā ^ā ) My personal rate: 9.5/10 Rarity: 6/10 Write your own opinion š©· submitted by /u/bossbaby_shushu [link] [comments]
What would you consider second and third tier companies within the k-pop sphere? Obviously, the Big 4 (Hybe, JYP, SM, YG) are first tier to me since they make the most money and seem to have the most influence within the industry, but I'd like to hear what others think about second and third tier companies? submitted by /u/Super-Package-8564 [link] [comments]
