K-pop is flopping (imo) this year while Katseye is consistently dominating worldwide?

Sorry for using the term "flop" as I can't any think any word that would define a decline to the majority of K-pop groups' recognition nowadays. From day 1, I wouldn't be surprised if they would take the lead someday simply because they're enjoying being themselves and they're VERY FREE to talk any topic like gender, political issues, and many more controversial topics, something you wouldn't hear from the majority of K-pop as companies are forcing them to shut up and this is one of the major reasons I think why most people adore them. Another thing is that sometimes Katseye wouldn't bother to instantly interfere with other people in public, like when Megan and Lara just randomly joined someone's dancing video in public and just ran away as if they were strangers lol. Sofia talking about the corrupted politicians here in PH, and omg, Lara would literally give you serious life lessons and different perspectives on how you should approach situations differently, and them as a group being chaotic and talk what the hell they want to talk about. Katseye is obviously different aside from making music, they're the people who would love to enjoy with other people around and they're free to do what ever they want unlike majority of the K-pop groups just being silent by their companies. They're so vocally loud. They're the group I would listen to and get valuable lessons from them from different topics, maybe because they're not in a strict East Asian type of discipline but more of full-grown Western women who truly know their worth and know what they're fighting for. Idk but it's my opinion so pls don't hate on it. submitted by /u/Alarmed_Pepper9665 [link] [comments]

Ew trump. I do not support any misogynistic, white nationalist, incel, hitler-like (esp. Musk), racists at all and neither does this sub and apparently neither does reddit as a site as a whole. He stands against everything Kpop stands for which is an art form from a formerly colonized people from a country that is rising up against colonialism and hatred. Anyone who comments anything negative to this, or tries to defend that orange guy will be banned permanently. Go somewhere else, we don't want your lower kind here. 14.725. A quick note about the generalization rule

  • 2 years ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

The subreddit is mostly uncensored as long as people follow the rules. Generalizing statement about Korea, Korean society, etc or most other countries are not acceptable except under the following standards: The only claims that are acceptable when generalizing Korean society in this sub are those that bring up generalizable stastical claims by the standards of the international statistics institute. Not only do the vast majority of stastistics you can find on the internet about Korea not up to this minimum, basic standard but this requirement includes having ample sample size, blocking by relevant demographics and sometimes even double blind tests. So if you make a generalizing claim, your wording must be properly formatted and links to the relevant studies provided. In other words, the standard for making a generalization is very high in this sub. Not to mention the wording for your claim has to be properly made. Anyone who has taken a college level statistics class will know what I am talking about and we may even require you to provide the confidence level interval if it's relevant for your study. If you cannot meet these standards, I would just avoid doing it in general. submitted by /u/Kpop_Love_Forever [link] [comments]

1. Yerin baeks new album is seriously so good and doesn’t have a single skip

Sorry the masterpiece this album is, it’s very cohesive throughout and contains so many good b-sides that I think explore a new side of music for her, I loved her album every letter I sent you but flash and core definitely feels a bit more darker thematically and slower, the jazz modulations on mirror are honestly so good. Frankly this is an album I will probably often revisit, it feels like something I would listen to if I was walking through the city during autumn or winter and exploring I think the closest I can compare this to music wise is prob Taeyeons something new mini album My favorites are television star, mirror, karma calls, another season with you, in the middle and your yerin. submitted by /u/henrietta- [link] [comments]

3. Times you think groups nailed every aspect of an era (music, mv, performances, promotions, etc.)?

  • 31 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I was thinking about K-pop groups who have had iconic eras: not just great albums, but times when everything about the album rollout and promotion was perfectly executed. Here are some of the elements I think contribute to a great era: Music - both title track & full album Music videos Concept photos, films, & teasers Album packaging Costumes, styling Choreo and performances Tour Promotions (release strategy, marketing materials, appearances, etc.) The "story" of the era (Did the era launch them to stardom? Were they making a "comeback" in the western sense?) Do you think there have been eras in K-pop where most or all aspects of the album rollout were iconic, not just the music? submitted by /u/pussycontrolgonemad [link] [comments]

9. Losing interest/attraction in idols since they look different

  • 2 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Is it normal to lose interest in idols because they look different? In this case I’m referring to plastic surgery, not weight gain, although sometimes drastic weight loss does also affect how i feel about them. Sometimes i look at their posts and all i can notice is how different they look due to plastic surgery. Their face falls into an uncanny valley region for me, and it kind of disturbs me. I feel like that isn’t the person i’ve seen for the past few years, but then i start to feel guilty that I’m judging them based on their looks. In the case of drastic weight loss, all i can notice in their photos are how unhealthy they look and it makes me uneasy to look at them… then again i start to feel guilty for thinking that way. Ive never felt this way about weight gain though. Subconsciously i feel like i like them less, and I recognise this is happening when i start to bias other group members instead. Has anyone else had the same feeling? edit: More thoughts — it always feels like a shame to see them because they looked so much better before and i don’t think getting any work done was necessary. I still do like them but not to the extent that i did previously submitted by /u/lIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlol- [link] [comments]

12. is seven members in a global girl group too many?

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

i've been dreaming of being in a global girl group like katseye even before they debuted, and i've always wondered how many members are too many for a global girl group? katseye is six and other popular kpop groups that have blown up in the west typically have around 4-7 members. does a non kpop fan's acceptance of a kpop group have a limit on how many members a group has before it's considered too much? would seven members in a global girl group work in the west? i feel like kpop groups with seven or more members have been debuting less and less and i'm mostly wondering what is the sweet spot for the amount of members in a group? submitted by /u/affectionate_iDoll19 [link] [comments]

13. NMIXX is a group that just doesn't know how to miss

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

They just dropped their pre-release song, SPINNIN' ON IT ahead of their full album coming in a few weeks. As a multi GG stan of many groups, this group just never ceases to impress me every single time. I've been let down by so many times recently with groups leaning way too heavily into talk-singing. It feels like there's been far too much of it lately. But this song? If you love strong, high quality vocals, this is it. It's over 3 minutes long, it's got a gorgeous chorus that actually sings, and yes... it even has a bridge. If you love good, high quality vocals, this song is it. It's over 3 minutes, it's got a beautiful chorus, it has a BRIDGE. I haven't been this satisfied by a song release in months. Please go check it out, you won't regret it. I haven't been this excited for an album drop for ANY group until I heard this song. submitted by /u/GainImpressive8183 [link] [comments]

14. Non-fans need to move on from OT7 RIIZE. We are entering 2026 soon.

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I'm tired of non-fans and their performative activism when it comes to RIIZE and Xnghan. Every other day, there is a new post about "RIIZE is not the same anymore". If you don't vibe with them, then that's okay, but why lie? They still have the same "Rise and Realize" and "Emotional pop" concepts. Their Instagram aesthetic is still the same. Just recently, they started teasing their comeback, where the members reiterated wanting to be honest with their music and to connect more with their listeners and fans. All this you would already know if you had kept up with them. I watched a TikTok recently where the comments insulted one of the members by calling him a "puppet" for being grateful to their company, dismissing the fact that he is his own person with his own thoughts and feelings, not a representative of a former member or the company. I'm also tired of the backhanded compliments. Yes, Memories and Talk Saxy are fantastic. But so are Love 119, Boom Boom Bass, the entire Odyssey album. I wish people would give them a listen too because the boys worked hard for them. The saddest thing, though, is how many people said that they should just disband. It's as if the 6 other boys were at fault for what the Korean fans did. Why should they have to give up on their dreams and careers? I understand cherishing OT7 and wishing what they could have been together, but isn't it insulting to both RIIZE and Xnghan to keep being stuck in the past? TLDR; RIIZE and Xnghan both deserve to fulfill their dreams and have long-lasting careers. If you vibe with either/both/neither of them, it's fine but I wish people would move on from their headcannon version of 2023 era RIIZE. submitted by /u/luminelover20 [link] [comments]
