Recently, Babymonster released their New single Hot Sauce, a quirky and fun rap focus English released, but the usual comments already came out too: . "YG doesnt know what to do with them" "How come their songs are always so bad" Etc Did you ever consider Babymonster sound just isnt for? Because I have and its Crazy LOL . - No song is ultimately bad, just not your tastes - YG knows perfectly what hes doing with Babymonster, they are release more of an unique sound, not following trends - Let's just stop hating the girls at least because they arent the ones choosing neither what is release and when? Because Rami is resting, why should all the group stop? . Just wanted to leave this here because people really want to make it and unrefutable true that Babymonster's discography is bad, when it is, just like everything on Music, just not your taste submitted by /u/Yuna_buns [link] [comments]

Fe3O4 : Forward by NMIXX was a record that I was highly anticipating earlier this year. It not only delivered but exceded way higher than my expectations. This "review" is like a look-back into the EP 3 months after it was released. To preface this, I'm a person that really loves production, and I think this EP really struck that hard enough. This EP has some of the most interesting sonical choices I've ever seen in K-Pop, and honestly I would LOVE to see more of it. I'd also like to add that I've been a fan of NMIXX but it has honestly been an up and down trip with them, I was not the biggest of the second EP in the same trilogy, Fe3O4 : Stick Out. So, even though I wanted them to create a new release, my expectations were not super high. But, oh boy, I was knocked out when I first listened to this. Tracks High Horse and Ocean were really beautiful. The production is super lovely, especially on High Horse! That mix from a somber melody to breakout drums is something that's super interesting and something I haven't really heard in the K-Pop space before. Tracks Know About Me and Golden Recipe were my least favorite tracks back then for two differing reasons. I thought that Know About Me plays it way too safe compared to the others, while Golden Recipe's chorus was something that was a bit questionable. After 3 months of reflection, though, I have to say that these songs definitely grew on me a lot more and I honestly can't stop repeating Golden Recipe now. Slingshot and Papillon are my real winners here though. Here's the experimentation I wanted and here's the production I needed. The iconic papillon intro serves as one of the best opening sequences I've ever heard while Slingshot is probably my favorite K-Pop song of all time. It's all over the place, you don't know where it's going to go and that's the plain beauty of it. I really hope they would continue towards this direction! I just really wish that this mini album got the love it truly deserves. JYP, please push this EP further. Fe3O4:Forward might not be for performance, but it definitely is a producer's dream come true. submitted by /u/untangledbox [link] [comments]
This was inspired by Katseye's Pitchfork review and the backlash to it. I think there's a back and forth between two types of people when it comes to music discussion and it's not just a kpop thing. Generally fans of pop music love to try to individualize the music they listen to according to their identity and then get personally offended when someone calls that music generic. There is nothing wrong with liking top 10 hits but you also can't expect to be considered one of those people who have an eclectic/"good" taste. Part of having an eclectic/"good" taste is sifting and filtering through the music you listen to and you just can't do that if your palette is the one that is widely accepted by everyone and is the cultural norm. That's why trendy music has the reputation of being generic, average, basic, "the norm". You can't be special and quirky AND be into popular stuff there's got to be a trade off you know. Historically too, the counter culture, the indie, the alternative has always stood out from the dominant culture. The idea of "cool" literally comes from the fact that you don't adhere to the norms. And that's why critics are attracted to this style of music because what's the point of being the tastemaker if you are just propping up what everyone already likes. I just think that the language we use to talk about our tastes tends to frame it through superiority. People attach their identity to it which makes it hard to have fruitful discussions about the artistry. Music that is too challenging is not going to be easy to digest and therefore it's unlikely to be accepted en masse. Now everyone will look derisively upon people who try to branch away from the norm and say "not like the other girls" as an insult. It's never going to be an insult though. Like it's just high school popular kids bullying the nerds and the art kids. That's it. Also the whole idea of "let people enjoy things" being used as a way to end deeper music discussion is also counterproductive and I will argue anti-intellectual. People who tend to have deeper music discussion are generally the ones super passionate about music and keep up with more than just the music. They are interested in how the music works and want to discuss the artistry and the idea of artistry itself. If all you listen to is what is trending, what is propped up by the industry and the corporates you aren't really bringing anything new to the table are you? I just think it's terrible how music conservation has degraded so much over time especially in pop circles. Contrary to what people would think about me I think pop music can be very very artistic and kpop has excelled in it but nowadays every discussion is "let people enjoy things" and that's just so sad. submitted by /u/avrilsower [link] [comments]

I am new to Reddit and would like to ask if anyone is from the south of the UK and likes Kpop. I don't mind whether we would talk online or in-person, so I'm open to anything! I'm in quite a discrete area, but I travel to places such as Southampton, Brighton, Worthing and Portsmouth :) Here is some info about me: Name: Amy Age: 24 Groups I stan: ATEEZ, Stray Kids, ACE, Dreamcatcher, CIX, Kai, Baekhyun, Taemin, TXT. I am also beginning to start listening more to Seventeen. Thanks for reading and I hope to meet some new people! submitted by /u/Opposite-Bad1727 [link] [comments]
Hey everyone, I wanted to share some thoughts about Jungkook since his return from military service. It feels like he’s been facing a lot of unfair criticism lately, and I think it’s important we talk about it calmly and respectfully. Here are some things I’ve noticed that seem really unnecessary: Jungkook wore a cap that said “Make Tokyo Great Again.” From what I can tell, it was just a fashion choice. Yet some people reacted very negatively, accusing him of political intentions without any real context or explanation. It feels like people are reaching too hard to find faults where there aren’t any. During Jin’s recent FESTA performance, Jungkook was sitting quietly, supporting Jin in a low-key way. Instead of appreciating his presence and respect, some people accused him of trying too hard to get attention or wanting to be “picked” by Jin. This seems really unfair because just being there quietly should not be seen as attention-seeking behavior. Jungkook has always been humble and reserved, and it feels like people are twisting his natural personality into something negative. Another serious issue is that a while ago, someone broke into Jungkook’s home while he was serving in the military. Sorry if this is a bit late to bring up, but I think it’s important to remember that respect and support shouldn’t have an expiration date, especially when it comes to someone’s privacy and safety. It’s really upsetting that this incident hasn’t been talked about much or received the attention it deserves. No one should have to go through that, especially not someone who has sacrificed so much. What’s even more disappointing is that some fans within the ARMY community are turning on Jungkook and other BTS members. This kind of negativity and division goes completely against the message BTS has promoted for years — about love, respect, and supporting each other no matter what. Jungkook put his career on hold at the height of his success to fulfill his duty, returned quietly and respectfully, and has continued to support his group and fans without seeking the spotlight. Despite all this, the criticism and hate keep coming, often from people who once claimed to be his fans. I’m genuinely curious if others have noticed this wave of negativity too and what we can do to encourage more positive support for Jungkook and BTS as a whole. They deserve to be celebrated, not torn down. TL;DR: Jungkook has been unfairly criticized after his military service over harmless things like a fashion choice and quietly supporting Jin. He also experienced a serious invasion of privacy while serving. It’s disappointing to see some fans turning against him. Let’s support him instead. submitted by /u/Ok_Excuse323 [link] [comments]
