I love K-pop, but I do get confused by idols and how they want to either censor or not show themselves because of how they will look to the public. Now, I’m not talking about serious reasons. Those, I somewhat get. I mean the more causal and confusing points. I mainly watch a lot of girl K-pop groups and I have noticed how they cannot for reasons unknown, be on camera if they have no make up or no contact lenses or they must have a jacket over their shirt or tank top. I have seen these same idols wear hair rollers, face masks, and even caked on makeup for laughs but the idea of not wearing makeup, no filter, or no contacts is horrific. The need for modesty but they can dance sexually and wear outfits that reveal much more than what they wear to swimming pools or pajamas or workout outfits. The need to hide tattoos or cuss yet they can grind each other or even dance almost like they are strippers. They MUST have a blanket over their lap when they sit in interviews because of the shorts or skirt is too short yet the company allows them to be worn while they dance. This is by no way a hate, negative, or disrespectful in any way, but a lot of the rules or actions seem to contradict a lot of what they allow. I’ve seen some articles they’re debuting on August 18th, and honestly, I’m excited So far, the rookie boy group scene this year feels kind of... underwhelming? Felt less competitive or exciting. Many of them have good album sales, but their performance on domestic and global charts has been pretty disappointing. Domestically, none of them even made it into Melon Top 100. Some people say it’s generally harder for boy groups to appeal to the general public early on I’m wondering if that’s a fair statements. On the girl group side, it's little bit better. Groups like Izna, KiiiKiii, and Hearts2Hearts have shown solid momentum. There was even some early media play around a “H2H vs KiiiKiii” rivalry, which made things a bit more interesting, although it faded pretty quickly. ADP also made a strong entrance, adding more fun to this year's rookie group scene. Meanwhile, the boy group side feels really quiet, aside from buzz within their own fandoms, but that doesn’t really count as real conversation. So with BigHit entering the scene soon, I’m hoping it brings more energy and conversation around rookie boy groups as a whole. It’d be even more fun if SMTR25 debuted too, but I guess they’ll be considered 2026 rookies. Anyway, what do you guys think about this year’s rookie boy groups? So basically there’s a game called “ruin it for me” where you can choose a situation for yourself or others, anything that is possible in the world. And the other person adds a condition to it to essentially ruin it. Kind of like making a deal with the devil. You ask for something and the devil fulfils it but in a way that you’d never wanted. Example: 1. Statement - End world hunger 2. Condition - All humans become cannibals, so they eat each other enough until there’s not a single hungry person left Let’s do a K-pop version of that!
