2.288. Do you think the pressure to have multiple comebacks within a year affects the quality of music in K-pop, especially for idols who produce their own songs?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Nowadays, I’ve seen a lot of remarks saying that the recent comebacks of some groups feel rushed or lackluster, especially when the members themselves are the main producers. It makes me wonder—could this have something to do with how K-pop idols are normalized to have multiple comebacks in a single year? Maybe these producer-idols are being rushed or pressured to constantly release out new music, even when they’re not creatively ready. After all, music production is deeply rooted in inspiration. That’s why Western artists typically take around two years or more to release an album. submitted by /u/why_dmn [link] [comments]

2.290. genuine question regarding cultural appropriation

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

why is it offensive when non-black people wear black hairstyles like braids, cornrows etc? the only explanation i’ve seen regarding this is that black hairstyles are culturally and historically significant, but (with all due respect) i don’t seem to understand why it’s offensive when someone simply wears these hairstyles in a proper way, without claiming that it’s their own creation bcs coming from a culturally rich country myself (india), i absolutely understand the rage when someone takes something from someone else’s culture and history and acts as if its their own creation without ever giving credit but at the same time i feel very happy whenever i see a non-indian wearing our clothes or hairstyles properly with proper acknowledgment why do people get mad at the slightest mention of black hairstyles by a nonblack person or when a nonblack wears braids? im sorry if i wrote something offensive, this question comes from a genuine place, and i really wish to educate myself more on this topic submitted by /u/flwrbts [link] [comments]

2.292. The real ITZY member JYPE fumbled is Ryujin?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I'm sorry, but you couldn't have told me in 2021 that Ryujin wouldn't be the most popular idol in 4th gen. She was literally being talked about everywhere, everything she did trended and went viral. Maybe ITZY as a whole wavered with success of their releases (even though they're still doing fine), but lets not pretend jype is holding back giving solo schedules to all the members anymore. People's reasoning behind the company's late decision to promote the girls individually was because of Suzy, but, hello? Any company would want another Suzy, they'd get more money AND recognition. JYPE's bad at capitalising on popularity in general, but with Ryujin they messed up particularly hard. A basic selfie of hers in 2021 would literally rake up 2 million likes in half a day. She used to have a few fancams with at LEAST a million views every comeback. Her shoulder dance went mega viral, but all the company did was make them perform it at random events for the next 5 years. People say the company don't like letting members 'shine' individually or give the girls opportunities when they make a bit of noise. But they DO. Only now, it's later and the noise isn't as loud as it would have been a few years back. When Chaeryeong started going viral on variety shows, it led to her hosting three (well deserved) variety shows, endorsing brands, appearing in commercials, guesting on popular variety shows solo even way before the other 4 members. After Yuna's viral (and absolutely iconic) U-go-girl stage, she got special stages almost every year. Eventually she got her own youtube channel, endorsments and FINALLY an acting role!!! (Miss Undercover Boss, i'm so excited 😭😭😭) Lia got her OSTs and Yeji (finally) got her solo debut with Air (which would have blown up massively if she released it in 2021/2022, especially after her River performance). But Ryujin had her studio choom performance and Mix and Max before disappearing individually behind other popular 4th gen idols, who are more talked about these days. You can't tell me she was never sought after. She has many directors (Jeon Tae-ho and the director of Tylenol) and Acting managers (Varo Entertainment staff, also currently Lee Yoomi's manager) and a staff member from Management MMM (which manages Kim Taeri and Esom) following her on instagram. She also has expressed wanting to act for 4/5 years now as well. Especially after the fighting scene that literally MADE MAMA 2021, how she used to become the most talked about guest in any fashion show she went to, it's weird how the company did nothing to expand or utilise the popularity after those events. Maybe Ryujin herself turns down these things now, but it's undeniable that if she was hypothetically given more opportunities around their biggest eras, she (and probably the rest of the girls if THEY were given more opportunities earlier to make them more recognised to the gp) would have been more popular today. JYPE just started promoting the girls individually too late :( Also, what's with the girls having no ot5 variety schedule this comeback? Anyway, I just wanted to put my thoughts out there because I was just thinking about this yesterday while looking through instagram lol submitted by /u/Gold_Meaning3688 [link] [comments]

2.294. Was Jeon Somi’s career just ruined by manner towards the YG artists or because of label

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

She debuted solo with Birthday and I did not know how well it was received. “Dumb Dumb” was a viral TikTok bop song and she was praised, cared by people incl. YG family fandoms. Xo Xo performed a bit less well than Dumb Dumb but it was okay. Then Fast Forward came, no one cared. Infamously, her Twitter reply “yay, they love me” was a bad decision and unprofessional behaviour. Did people ignore about her music because of that? I can tell she is talented but she lacks some management and behavioural skills? submitted by /u/leonardreignn [link] [comments]

2.300. Will we see more western artists promote in korea?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I just saw D4VD on killing voice and to what i remember he performed on a mcountdown too for his cb and collaborated with hyunjin from SKZ. Katseye's gnarly promotion really sold the song and just their whole cb in general and they wouldn't have had that opportunity in the west We already know other none kpop groups have performed on music shows like XG, dearalice etc. I dont know how d4vd went about getting on mcontdown but honestly I dont think it's a bad idea submitted by /u/Dependent_Row_4280 [link] [comments]

As a title says, let's make a supergroup, which will be made only from 2nd gen idols. Male and female one, separate. Let's do some restriction: *7 members max *Only two members max from same group (for example you are allow use only two members from SNSD, two members from BIGBANG, etc.) What would be your dreamy supergroups from 2nd gen? submitted by /u/Eastern_Return_1710 [link] [comments]

2.304. Do you care about albums being cohesive?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’ve seen a lot of albums get criticized for not being cohesive but I personally don’t really care about cohesiveness. Sometimes it’s nice but not being cohesive doesn’t hinder my enjoyment of the album if I like most of the songs. I usually listen to playlists instead of just the albums so that plays a factor for me. I’m interested in hearing what others think about this. submitted by /u/Winter-Net-2669 [link] [comments]
