1) Comment only 1 girl per country along with a picture. 2) They DO NOT have to be from a K-Pop group specifically, but they do have to be from a girl group! 3) Bi-racial idols are allowed, however, if they win for one category, they are ineligible for another. 4) Votes will be calculated after 24 hours. It was such a close battle, but Sriya edged out Carmen by 1 single vote! For the next round, we’re looking for a representative from Hong Kong! South Korea: Jihyo (TWICE) The Philippines: Sophia (KATSEYE) Mainland China: Yuqi (i-dle) Thailand: Minnie (i-dle) India: Sriya (Blackswan) Once we complete this chart, we’ll do the same with a boy group! submitted by /u/sailormusic [link] [comments]

36. Gnarly is a good song that does exactly what it’s suppose to do.

All these posts from months ago saying it was a waste of a concept, waste of effort, mistake, won’t be a hit were dead wrong because everything here it taken at face value. Was the first listen shocking? Yes. Was it risky? Yes. Did it pay off? Also yes. The lyrics being entirely SATIRE makes it even better. I honestly don’t know how people took the lyrics and thought it was meant to be serious, meaningfully, and written to be good. If something is written to evoke that type of “what the fuck” reaction then I think it’s done well. It’s very obviously mocking that high-life California influencer culture and does it well. I’m glad it became a moment, a hit, a trend your favs have been doing, and even a pop-culture moment. People are calling songs that are hated but turned into hits a “Gnarly moment” and that’s good. All love. submitted by /u/Homobound [link] [comments]

38. I hate when ppl use photos of idols when they were minors and compared them to photos years later as if it’s proof they got plastic surgery

  • 10 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I don’t want to use examples bc I feel like that would just cause problems here… But I’ll use a semi example An idol I used to follow Debuted when he was 16-17 And now a few years till 10 years into his career people use a photo of him from when he was struggling with weight to compare to a photo when he was in highschool. (Where he did more sports and was arguably more muscular than now) It just rubbed me the wrong way because he clearly lost a TON of weight at the time his cheeks were sunken and his nose was slimmer and he was skin and bones. Now he looks a lot healthier but still people compare that one photo as proof that he did do plastic surgery? Like there’s no problem with plastic surgery (a lie bc there is a problem with plastic surgery especially in KPOP) it’s a bit weird to compare a minor and then the idol as an adult in their mid to late twenties. There’s a few more cases like these recently…comparing an idols pre debut minor photos to an idols aging face and body years later. Also, nobody seems to say this when idols features get bigger instead of smaller. Like if an idols jaw gets less defined no one’s over here saying “oh they got plastic surgery” obv bc it’s against the industry standards to gain large amounts of weight but it makes you wonder how much fans actually care about idols health. When an idol gains weight quickly= fat can’t control their mouth, their body is all of the sudden “healthy” When an idol loses weight quickly: plastic surgery, has issues, and wants attention It’s weird that people hyper analyze idols like this. Why are you digging up picture of them as trainees and comparing it to now just to try to say they had plastic surgery? Someone will probably say “what’s wrong with plastic surgery” there’s a lot of things wrong with it, especially if you’re accusing someone of changing their face. People don’t just change their face bc it’s a trend, there’s a serious issue on the reason why ppl feel like they should get work done. Again, this is not me trying to prove that so and so idol did or did not get surgery it’s me trying to bring up the discussion that fans sometimes weaponize minor KPOP idols and idols who were minors at some point. Who were exploited as such. submitted by /u/No_Big4565 [link] [comments]

39. You can not be against black influence in kpop while being a kpop stan

  • 11 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

we’ve seen too many instances where blk culture is being disrespected and appropriated in kpop especially this year alone and it’s completely valid to be outraged!! but the things being said about cortis is making me realize that so many people have entirely lost the plot. Blk influence has been in kpop since the beginning of times and 2025 seriously can’t be the year where people are suddenly against it especially when you’re still an active kpop stan. I watched the cortis documentary and they worked with so many talented blk artists and well respected producers to make their album while also being guided on how to rap and sing on certain tracks. When I see comments like “they need to leave blk people alone” or “I’m tired of kpop companies taking from blk people” towards them it just confuses me like that’s literally who helps make their music?!? I totally understand if they’re not your cup of tea but so many kpop stans acting like blk influence is something that suddenly just started taking over kpop is odd to me bc all the top and iconic kpop groups are all influenced by blk people cortis isn’t the first and they will never be the last. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with what cortis is doing I actually think they’re a great example of how you can be influenced by blk people without full on doing cosplay with the culture and yes it’s the bare minimum. submitted by /u/SympathyRough5235 [link] [comments]
