All these posts from months ago saying it was a waste of a concept, waste of effort, mistake, won’t be a hit were dead wrong because everything here it taken at face value. Was the first listen shocking? Yes. Was it risky? Yes. Did it pay off? Also yes. The lyrics being entirely SATIRE makes it even better. I honestly don’t know how people took the lyrics and thought it was meant to be serious, meaningfully, and written to be good. If something is written to evoke that type of “what the fuck” reaction then I think it’s done well. It’s very obviously mocking that high-life California influencer culture and does it well.
