Hey folks! Over in r/kpop we just posted a new special Town Hall that is focused only on the Flairs we use to help organize our posts based on content categories. Link to r/kpop's 'All About Flairs' Town Hall We included announcements for new flairs here on r/kpoppers and also on r/kpophelp. The following is the section relevant for this subreddit. NEW FLAIRS! Connect - This flair will be used for anything where fans are trying to socially connect with each other. Announcing new K-Pop subreddits or Discords, looking for mutual fans on social media, wanting to meet up at a concert, seeking fans in a region to form a dance group, networking for a fan project, announcing a K-Pop night at a club, etc. Research - Academic surveys related to K-Pop or fandom topics. We'll keep an eye on these new flairs to see if they create any confusion or need adjustments. I was naive about how authoritarian and full of propoganda the very top of the chain in every industry is. yes i do think i am still very unaware of how dark things are but there may be less freedom at the top of the chain than i originally thought. i once used to want to be famous in music industry until i realise how controlling and excluding it is, and how it can be more dangerous and authoritarian than the previous jobs that i had to quit from lifelong illnesses. I was also so naive about kpop. Despite being exposed to stories about Hollywood it never crossed my mind that kpop could be as dark even though i saw the documentaries about tough training and news scandals, the many dark cases and government issues in kpop too. I was very naive overall, not understanding that music is a locus of control; and a means of disseminating certain views within this world as well as maintaining the status quo- of course it would be just as terrifying as the greater music industry as a whole. it just didn't cross my mind how these consumerist industries are full of dark sides as well, and now that i am finally understanding the news it's kinda put me off a lot of different industries in general, i feel like many industries exist to shape and twist the understanding of the world into stuff which keeps people trapped and small. It would make sense for kpop to bleed into politics, for the power of the idol can globally shape viewpoints and perspectives. No wonder when i watch kpop reality tv i feel i have to have a suspension of belief- of course people can't be truly authentic at work!!! lmao it would be silly of me to even expect them to be that way. so nowadays i realise i have to be more respectful when idols may hide a lot on tv or act a certain way- there's a very good reason as to why they do. Not to worry tho i don't think this is only kpop. i think this is just a thing that happens in many industries, especially media based ones. Nowadays i realise all i ever dreamed of was an illusion.... i was SUPER naive about this world and sadly am not sure what to do anymore. lmao i know at least im blessed enough to talk about this stuff right? i guess so. it feels like hardship doesn't discriminate to any kind of background or type of people; although i get that some people are objectively going through unimaginable suffering like nothing else, i still want to be respectful to people going through everyday struggles too, as they also have a right to feel sad about the bs they go through as well. Overall, i was naive to how shitty this world is and how broken life is for so many people, naive to the countless crying souls out there who suffer everyday in silence. yeah sure my life is hard too but there's so many ppl who probably sad i guess. i think i need to maybe enjoy the freedoms of regular human life more instead of praying for a fantasy that doesn't exist. and it's ok i take full responsibility for my own naiveite. submitted by /u/AngleFormal [link] [comments]

fandoms say their group sold out their concert tickets in no time but if you look into it, its the scalpers who has most of the tickets and sell them for double or triple the original price. i was trying to secure a ticket for an upcoming concert and i couldnt get a single one, i spent almost five hours each day. it wasnt just me who wasnt able to secure a ticket but the other fans too. and it turns out the scalpers has more than hundreds of tickets and theyre selling it at an expensive price which not every fan can afford, leading those tickets to go to waste. submitted by /u/withinyourheart [link] [comments]

This is a well-known fact, but since most fans focus on the big groups, it’s easy to overlook. Since the start of this decade, over 200 girl groups have debuted, but how many actually found decent success? Maybe a tenth of that? It's wild when you really think about it. The K-pop scene right now is basically this: Debut under the Big Four? Congrats, that’s your golden ticket. Debut under a smaller company, like the other 90% of idols? I'd like to preface by stating that there have been times where I have had the best time in GA standing pits during K-pop concerts. I went to see Tomorrow X Together in DC this past Sunday, and being in the pit was probably the worst experience that I've at a show. Since I had a VIP 2 ticket, I was told that check-in would begin at 8am. Despite a few line cutters, the check-in process was smooth. I showed up at 7:45am, and ended up being #258 in line for VIP 2. After check-in, we were allowed to leave, get food or rest, etc. We just had to return at 3:00pm to queue for soundcheck. Everything leading up to soundcheck was fine. Fans were friendly, but the kindness quickly deteriorated once soundcheck ended. I went to the bathroom because we had two more hours of standing before the show was set to begin. I did let everyone around me know that I was going, and they said they would hold my spot. When I returned, this group of women probably aged 30-50 screamed in my face, kept saying no, and pointed their fingers at me. I was utterly shocked because I was gone for two minutes, and everyone around knew that was my spot. I am 30 myself, so seeing this type of behavior from grown women was shocking. It's never that serious. They way that the women yelled was quite overwhelming, so much so that I was reduced to tears. How embarrassing for me because I should be tougher During the concert, the women got into a few arguments with others, and shoved a teenager. The teenager collapsed to the floor. Honestly, they seemed like they only cared about interactions from the group members. Even though these "fans" almost ruined the experience, I still had an incredible time for the most part and enjoyed the show. Tomorrow X Together are truly some of the best performers in K-pop. Overall, these women were straight up evil, and I hope that they all have the days that they deserve. P.s. seated pit would probably eliminate most of these problems. September was a decent month, delivering some tunes that helped move the month forward. Zerobaseone returned during the month with their first full-length album, one that kept popping up on my playlist with great frequency. Miley Cyrus returned with two new songs on a deluxe edition of Something Beautiful. I still can’t believe we are moving into October and the summer is over, as the weather is getting cooler than it was before. The instrumental hits hard as it’s been pulling me back for more. The clapping of the high hats fit perfectly with the group's performance, which keeps things interesting. I’ve had the hook stuck in my head like crazy, as this tune is my favorite track on the album. The bridge is one section that I love as the beat hits hard, like someone is hitting metal together. Chae goes for this indie-pop sound that works smoothly with her voice. I find her solo the most different out of all the Kpop solos I’ve heard. Chaeyoung has writing and production credits all over this project, shaping the sound to fit her style and image perfectly. From the opening of Avacado, I could tell this album was going to be a different-sounding one. Shoot (Fireworks) is the title track, going for a more upbeat pop sound that works beautifully with Chae’s voice. Sumin and Jibi feature in Ribbons a track that surprised me the first time I heard it. Downpour is the track on the album that gave me Yaeji vibes, which I didn’t expect. My Guitar closes out the project in a sweet way that fits her smooth voice wonderfully. Ed takes over September with Play his new album. He started releasing singles for the project earlier in the year, leading up to the big release. Out of the Singles, I will say Sapphire is my favorite with its hopeful vibe that keeps pulling me back. I’ve been listening to Sapphire a lot since it was first released. Camera is another song I kept returning to as the big hook kept me coming back for more. Don’t Look Down is where ED goes for a dark-EDM-pop sound that I never expected to hear. The extended version of the album delivers four killer tunes that I was in love with the first time I heard them. Problems has this cheerful folk vibe to it that blends wonderfully with his voice. War Games sounds like it came right out of a Bollywood film. Freedom was a track nobody expected, and it’s one that hits with the emotion as it’s been growing on me like crazy.
