Something being more popular than you think it should be does not make something overrated. It also makes no sense. Your basically saying "I wish less people knew about this" 😭 There are many viral and popular songs that are pretty much universally crapped on, some of them even became popular for being bad. That does not make those songs overrated. That is stupid. Overrated is something that's perceived quality is greater than it's actual quality. ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ Hey everyone, I hope you all had a good week. I know my week was pretty good, as we were given some great albums and songs to help make it even better. The days are starting to get a little breezier, which has been a good time to put on a hoodie. I’ve been excited to talk about the tracks from this week, as I feel like this week picked up a bit after a slow last week. Now, let’s jump into the music and see what the artists delivered. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ https://preview.redd.it/r07trlbbqwvf1.jpg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2108b1208e1fb9c2dff9396efbae9cc93f36ac96 Best of the Week: October 13th Blue Valinetine - NMIXX NMIXX returned this week with an excellent full-length project one I keep returning to like crazy. The opening song on the album Blue Valentine brings in some pop-rock elements with that MIXXPOP sound that we’ve heard from the group before. I found the pop-rock elements to work perfectly for the group, opening up the album in a great direction. Reality Hurts goes deep into the electronic sound, bringing in some hyper-pop/hardstyle sounds that have been pulling me back for more this week. RICO brought in a dancehall sound, something I have never been a fan of, but NMIXX took the dancehall sound and made it something I was enjoying. We do get two versions of O.O. cause a lot of people thought they were two songs smashed into one. I like both versions of the song as they give off a different vibe. NMIXX did an excellent job with this studio album, bringing in smooth vocal performances and catchy hooks that will continue it bring me back for more. https://preview.redd.it/8lqmub3jqwvf1.jpg?width=710&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f9e455ee731149173a3b9a4af21b5ac61b94f4a ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Other Koreon Releases of the Week: October 16th 타임캡슐 - Davichi Vocal duo Davichi is back with a new single, opening with a guitar and percussion. The sweet vocals blend wonderfully with the melody that sounds a bit more upbeat. The two singers still work well together, making this another excellent tune from them. The hook is upbeat, packed with emotion, and features killer vocal notes that will pull me back for more. I will say the instrumental has a bit of a pop-rock vibe that surprised me with how well it worked with the duo’s voices. I’m mostly used to Davichi delivering ballads, but it’s a nice change of pace to hear an upbeat tune from them. https://preview.redd.it/wwpw6jauqwvf1.jpg?width=686&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8952f204059c69afddef6ba7160ac0e8d0f6beb3 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Non-Korean Releases of the Week: Play (The Remixes) - Ed Sheeran This week, Ed Sheeran released a Remix EP featuring 4 Remixes of Songs from Play, on which he adds Indian Artists to the tracks. Sapphire with Arijit Singh was released back in July, and I’ve been listening to that version like crazy. Symmetry adds Ksran Aujla to the mix, who blends wonderfully with the instrumental, and I love how Ed sings a bit in Indian, blending with the feature. Heaven adds Jonita, who adds a sweet verse to the vibey tune that might be the vibeyiest tune on play. The last song I wanted to mention is Don’t Look Down which might be the best remix, which adds Humankind, Dhee & Santhosh Narayanan to the mix. The instrumental for Don’t Look Down gets remixed, sounding different from the original. In the remix, we get a flute solo that hits hard, adding to the overall vibe, and a killer rap verse that I didn’t expect to hear. I find these remixes enjoyable as I show that Ed is willing to collaborate with anyone, as he is trying new things during this era. https://preview.redd.it/49vc898arwvf1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=46e012dbee6f1487e8b0e0c38f9a31b5b70846e4 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Weekly Lastfm Round Up (October 10th - October 16th) Artist: Twice https://preview.redd.it/4il209lcrwvf1.jpg?width=696&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a977cd09021a7e362ac4e1d99313654ac1ec0a2b ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Album: Ten: The Story Goes on - Twice https://preview.redd.it/hvfmq77hrwvf1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e2e39a46356842370df72f57223437340cf34d70 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Song: MEEEEEE (NAYEON) - Twice https://preview.redd.it/3x98m0lyrwvf1.jpg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae9b370102e9a3403cf9ea5db26de60d2bc84a9c submitted by /u/Maltifandom23 [link] [comments]

Most idols, imo, make some progress after their debut. It's only natural - even if their skills don't technically improve, gaining confidence, learning what does and does not work for them alone is enough to make a difference. But I'm kinda curious - who do you think had the most impressive growth when comparing their rookie days vs. peak / now? Idols whose "glow-up" honestly had you amazed with just how much they've developed as a performer / artist throughout their career? submitted by /u/OkCauliflower7443 [link] [comments]
Simply put, people tend to paint the whole industry with the same brush while glazing an industry with similar issues that they remain unaware of because they have limited music knowledge/history and speak on a surface level. For Korea, idols represent the entire music industry while for Japan and America, whatever niche said critic listens to represents that industry. I know a primary factor is because Korea is a smaller music market and its a huge export for tourism but I honestly don't think it's an excuse to be ignorant. The amount of times I've seen someone say and I quote "Koreans have no talent/originality because they are racist and stole every aspect of their music from black people/jpop" with no self awareness is astounding. This isn't to say that K-Pop was not inspired by black music or the Japanese idol system but there's a lot of nuance that is never discussed frankly due to racism and an individuals personal dislike of k-pop for various reasons. As a black woman, I think the most egregious to me is poising k-pop as the biggest or primary stealer of black culture as if the American and Japanese music industries are innocent of this. I could name numerous examples of theft/racism within both industries but the difference is those instances are written off as not being a reflection of the entire music industry while Korean artists and their work is always shoved under the transgressions of idols. It's the double edged sword of Idol culture being so popular. At the very least, I would like people to stop labeling their criticism under the "Koreans" label and start focusing on actually talking about the idol system and its positives and negatives. submitted by /u/External-Molasses-50 [link] [comments]

The concert numbers seem too low for 4th gg with their popularity. For example, Twice held the first ever dome tour by kpop gg in Japan in 2019, and they further held concerts in even bigger stadium later. However, no other gg have held an dome tour since then, even groups popular in Japan like Ive and Lsf. Similarly, Blackpink held multiple stadium concerts in SEA with their popularity there, while aespa, being the most popular 4th gen gg in SEA, has not held a concert in stadium in SEA ever. If comparing the popularity of Twice in Japan and Blackpink in SEA is unfair, then take China and Taiwan as an example. Twice is not that popular in China due to the famous flag incident and they cannot promote in China and Taiwan for all these years. However, in their current tour, they can hold two full stadium concerts in Hong Kong, even though this is their first time in China in their whole careers. While i-dle and aespa, despite being super popular in China and Taiwan, are still having concerts in arenas there. So why are 4th ggs have such a low concert numbers relative to their popularity? submitted by /u/charlie19988 [link] [comments]

my ults are no way near nugu and tbh I do stan a lot of the popular groups but I do stan lesser known groups but ultimate nugu groups I maybe do not stan depends what’s considered ultimate nugu ? when it comes to being a esp for me a big groups fan its almost impossible to get noticed by your favs and if you wanna have the closest interaction possible to them you gotta pay a lot of money whether it’s things like buying loads of their albums to win a possible fancall or having vip 1 at concerts, theirs the fanwars, saesangs ect; nugu groups however you don’t get that stuff or very little of it if you do you get to see every milestone and watch them grow and be part of their journeys from the beginning, as their fandoms are much smaller they are able to notice their fans more remember their names, comments so forth and fan interactions feel personal like your genuinely appreciated not saying non nugu groups don’t make people feel like that and the fandom feels like family being a small group of people. Theirs no insane competition or stress.when it comes to photocards or ticket sales, you feel more seen as their aren’t millions of you as fans the connection is more real and deep and when they have some sort of success you feel it personally and the pride you feel is unmatched and if they end up more popular like omg I was here before the fame and now my favs are getting the more attention they deserve but when their nugu aswell you get to gatekeep them and their music and be in this little world with them and few other fans. submitted by /u/Desperate-Gur-6776 [link] [comments]
When you discovered something doesn't mean shit. What really matters is how much you love it and how much it means to you. I say this as someone who was there early many many times, and a pre-debut stan - everything. I am not saying this out of spite or bitterness. I just cringe so hard at people that make it such a big deal. You are not better then any other fan. submitted by /u/cat_girl10 [link] [comments]

Purely hypothetical. Would you pay, say €10, to see a kpop tribute concert that was about 45 minutes long and covered artists like Blackpink, Twice, Itzy, IVE, XG and Katseye? Yes I know Katseye and XG arent Kpop, but they are adjacent submitted by /u/CrimsonBlade2018 [link] [comments]
