3.166. Why do yall always excuse idols’ bad behaviors??

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’ve brought up to moas how in the txt spin-off soobin and kai jokingly call a darker skin mii character cutie pie and then laugh and say “what a character”, not to mention their repeated comments about how beomgyu is “too dark”. They also continously make fat people the butt of their jokes by calling eachother fat and big all of the time. I also noticed in an ateez wanted episode there was a character with a curly afro hair wig and yunho said they looked like a lion which is incredibly ignorant. I also found a post from sakura fat-shaming a group member from one of her former j-pop groups and covering it up as if her account got hacked (you can clearly tell it wasn’t). Yet everytime I bring this stuff up people cuss me out or make some excuse that infantilizes these grown adults as if all their intentions a pure despite the glaring issues with what they’re saying. Honestly it’s making me a little disgusted with my fellow kpop stan’s because they excuse this bad behavior all the time because of their parasocial relationships with these idols. YOU DONT KNOW THEM??? If an artist from anywhere else did these same things you would cancel them immediately… just because their country is less progressive doesn’t mean they can’t be and doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be cancelled for hateful behavior. The excuses are honestly getting really disappointing. submitted by /u/PackageMuch4336 [link] [comments]

Yup. Almost every girl group I stan, I choose the prettiest member. It's quite funny as how I used to hate some fans for only choosing a member as their bias. That's it. submitted by /u/ICreatedAnimeLoser [link] [comments]

I might get some backlash for how broad this is. But like for example a lot of ppl agree the beatles are one of the most influential bands. Its kinda like ethat question submitted by /u/Difficult_End_7059 [link] [comments]

3.180. Do most K-pop fans know about the working conditions of idols?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Lately I’ve been thinking about how tough the K-pop industry seems for idols; like the long hours, strict diets, barely any freedom, and super intense contracts. I know every job under capitalism is exploitive as well, but this feels like a whole different level since idols are not just making capital, they are capital. This begs the question: how much do fans actually know about this stuff? submitted by /u/Mountain-You9842 [link] [comments]

3.183. What percentile would you put yourself in knowledge/experience of kpop?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Just a for fun self-reflective question! Be sure to mention what aspects you’re more knowledgeable in and which ones you’re lacking in. For me, I’d put myself in maybe top 35-45%? I’ve been a fan for ~6 years and had casual exposure prior. I know all or most of the top groups from all gens, could recognize/name at least a few members from most groups (and all members from the highly popular ones). I’ve seen most “iconic” MVs and heard most of the “iconic” hits. I know the full discographies of 5+ groups, the majority of many more, and for the rest of the popular groups i’m at least a casual listener. My weakness is definitely nugu group knowledge which i’d like to get into more. I’m also pretty lacking in drama & meme/viral moments knowledge because i stay away from social media and rarely watch unofficial group content such as compilations/analyses. My girl group knowledge is comparatively weak as well. NOTE: There is for sure going to be a self-selection bias for people with more experience chiming in, but I want to hear from newer people as well so please don’t be afraid to comment :) Also remember that the dunning-krueger effect goes both ways! People with more knowledge actually tend to underestimate how much they know, while people with less knowledge will overestimate. submitted by /u/Lilac-Soul [link] [comments]
