What I’ve noticed is when Sana speaks English, she slurs every word and you can’t really understand what she’s saying. It’s really apparent on ‘Queen of Hearts’ and ‘This Is For’. She has a good tone, but I wish she would work on English pronunciation. submitted by /u/wieqo [link] [comments]
Lately I’ve been watching a lot of old SHINee content, and Minho sitting silently in the back during all their rookie-era press is kind of bizarre given how loud he actually is. He and Key have both talked about how they were told to basically sit down and shut up during their very early years, as the agency wanted SHINee (and especially Minho) to have more of a mysterious image. To my knowledge, this has fallen out of fashion over time, but I’m curious about other well-known or just publicly acknowledged examples of an agency “assigning” a personality to an idol, especially ones that were obviously very different from their real personality. It’s both a little dark and very funny to me. What other idols have talked about this? Are there other examples? Does it still happen now, and to what degree? Thanks!! submitted by /u/barbiethebuilder [link] [comments]

I understand that with most small and mid tier groups the agencies are 100% in charge of which brands the group will promote. But for bigger groups, do they get a say in it? Given that different members can have different opinions on promoting a certain product, does the company have the final say even with big groups? Ive always been interested in how much brand deals play a role in k-pop. I think for individual deals it makes sense cause it's probably 80% the company and 20% the idol's say in it but for group ones what happens if a few are really against it? Is it just part of their contract to advertise anything their company signs them up for? submitted by /u/PrimaryTomato3310 [link] [comments]

I recently DJed a mix here on SoundCloud that includes primarily 3rd through 5th gen K-pop from some of my favorite girl groups with villain / god complex vibes! submitted by /u/tedendipity [link] [comments]

I love Woodz. Whenever I have to recommend a solo artist, I always mention him. He's an ACE. And I'm a fan of the album Equal and the EP Only Lovers Left. But what I love most about the EP OLL is that it tells a story, a love story from beginning to end. Multiply (a sweet melody): He has a crush on someone who's far away, and he wants to be with that person. Thinking About You (second sweet melody, and I feel it's kind of dreamy): The title says it all, and he's in love. Sour Candy (sweet but more playful): They're already together and are in the first stage of love. Kiss of Fire: They're already stable, they're already kissing. The song is also darker than the previous ones. This song has a mature and sensual vibe (it's my favorite from this EP). He's so in love. Chaser (I think the guitar and drums give it a slightly heavier vibe, based on what the song expresses): She's distant, and he's looking for her. She's no longer interested in that love, and he still believes in it. Waiting (a dark vibe, watch the MV if you haven't seen it): He's still clinging to that love. He's suffering, but he's tired of it. Seungyoun is the best; he deserves so much love! submitted by /u/Separate-Comedian-25 [link] [comments]

Day 42 Results: IVE wins by 73 votes! (An absolute wash) I also fixed the day counter as someone pointed it out. Vote for your favorite and as always poll closes in 24 hours! If you're unsure of who to vote for, here's a couple songs to help your decision: Girls’ Generation - Oh! GG Girls’ Generation - Oh! Girls’ Generation - Run Devil Run Dreamcatcher - Maison Dreamcatcher - Vision Dreamcatcher - Odd Eye First Half Second Half Disclaimer: This tournament is not a “comparison”. The seeds were randomized and I didn’t pick the matchups. The songs picked are amongst their most popular because they’re easy to recognize. If you have another song suggestion you may leave it in the comments but please refrain from complaining about the song not being included. I also try to switch up the listed songs every new round, so the songs you might not know from a group might not be listed as they were listed the previous round. Either way, feel free to recommend them in the comments if you’d like. View Poll submitted by /u/PushOffTheGround [link] [comments]

I saw discussion how SM artists song performance this year hasn’t been great, and that not many good songs came out. SM artists have had comebacks literally every month, and when it comes to physical sales they’re still doing great, most of their groups easily sell 100k+ copies each time. It’s almost like fast food (in a good way). But if we’re talking about digital charts, domestically on MelOn, the ones consistently making it into the Top 100 this year are NCT Wish, NCT Dream, Riize, Aespa, and Hearts2Hearts. Longevity wise, it’s probably Aespa, Riize, and H2H holding up the best. On the global side, looking at Spotify, only a handful of SM songs this year have crossed 30M streams so far: Aespa – Dirty Works (40M) Ten – Stunner (60M) NCT Dream – Chiller (30M) H2H – The Chase (60M) H2H – Style (30M) *Correct me if I’m wrong or missing something. I don’t know what SM’s standards were like in previous years, but is it fair to say that their overall performance this year has been kinda weak? What do you guys think? Do you feel like most of their releases just haven’t been that good? submitted by /u/matt_vaghn [link] [comments]

Honorable mentions go out to XLOV, Purple Kiss, and Billlie. Rules: You will have approximately 24 hours to vote. I'd prefer it if you mention one artist per comment. The table of far: Row 1: BTS, Loona, Dreamcatcher submitted by /u/VigilMuck [link] [comments]
