Link to r/kpop's 'All About Flairs' Town Hall We included announcements for new flairs here on r/kpoppers and also on r/kpophelp. The following is the section relevant for this subreddit. NEW FLAIRS! Connect - This flair will be used for anything where fans are trying to socially connect with each other. Announcing new K-Pop subreddits or Discords, looking for mutual fans on social media, wanting to meet up at a concert, seeking fans in a region to form a dance group, networking for a fan project, announcing a K-Pop night at a club, etc. Research - Academic surveys related to K-Pop or fandom topics. We'll keep an eye on these new flairs to see if they create any confusion or need adjustments. 15.047. A quick note about the generalization rule

  • 2 years ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

The subreddit is mostly uncensored as long as people follow the rules. Generalizing statement about Korea, Korean society, etc or most other countries are not acceptable except under the following standards: The only claims that are acceptable when generalizing Korean society in this sub are those that bring up generalizable stastical claims by the standards of the international statistics institute. Not only do the vast majority of stastistics you can find on the internet about Korea not up to this minimum, basic standard but this requirement includes having ample sample size, blocking by relevant demographics and sometimes even double blind tests. So if you make a generalizing claim, your wording must be properly formatted and links to the relevant studies provided. In other words, the standard for making a generalization is very high in this sub. Not to mention the wording for your claim has to be properly made. Anyone who has taken a college level statistics class will know what I am talking about and we may even require you to provide the confidence level interval if it's relevant for your study. If you cannot meet these standards, I would just avoid doing it in general. submitted by /u/Kpop_Love_Forever [link] [comments]

1. Stop comparing Kpop idols to Big Western artist

  • 26 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Y'all need to stop comparing Kpop idols to Big Western artist. I get a lot of these groups are successful in the West, but trust me they will NEVER have the same impact as the western artist. Example, calling Rose the "Taylor Swift" or "Princess Diana of K-pop" when they are NOT comparable in any shape or form is just hilarious to me. No shade to Rose but I don't think her music nor career has had any impact on the industry like Taylor Swift. submitted by /u/im_army_sti11 [link] [comments]

3. Why SM puts "The 1st Album" "The 6th Mini Album" in the album title

  • 29 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I just listened to the new riize album, a good listen, I have this list I put the album names I listened to this year, and it occurred to me the album is literally called "ODYESSY - The 1st Album", then I realize aespa albums does this too, I just find it lowers the "coolness" somehow, a clean name "ODYESSY" just feels better. I guess for a true fan it should be easy to remember which album is which, and for causal listeners this info don't make much sense, the only case is people who freshly open their artist page and just want to find a full length album, can find it. Why do you think this is their norm? Any other companies do this? submitted by /u/neoneo451 [link] [comments]

5. What’s the BEST KPOP guide you’ve ever watched?

  • 1 hour ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Pls don’t make this a “which group is better” thing make it a “this person really put thought behind this and it shows through their editing and choice of clips and info” Also you have to have watched atleast more than your biased groups So I guess this is a question for multis! (I want to watch some interesting and engaging guides (has nothing to do with the group but the person creating it)) submitted by /u/SwimIcy9877 [link] [comments]

6. Will xlov be the concept kings of 5th gen?

  • 2 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I've been a starlight for like 12 years and they've really been giving me Vixx vibes since they're debut but with the genderless twist. They're dark, and sultry and looks like each comeback will be a new version of them. These pic were from Wumuti's Instagram which looks like hints of the next comeback. submitted by /u/xlov_mother_muti [link] [comments]

7. Does Kim Garam get compensated every time Le Serrafim’s debut album is streamed?

  • 2 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I know this might be a dumb question, but I’m honestly not familiar with how the Korean entertainment industry works when it comes to someone’s voice/likeness being used. Since Garam was essentially fired, but her voice and likeness is still being seen on multiple streaming platforms. I was listening to Sour Grapes, and as we all know, she stood out most in that song and the thought just came in my head; is Garam being paid anything for her contribution to their debut album at all? submitted by /u/Abject-Zucchini3058 [link] [comments]

I just joined stan twitter for le sserafim and man some people are really unhinged…but it got me thinking…what do idols truly think about us? For LSFM I know Yunjin creeps around on social media and sees a lot of this stuff. Do you think she and other idols who are constantly online talk shit about us with their members/friends or do you think they’re like “hell yeah people love us so much”?🥲 submitted by /u/jamie_gee26 [link] [comments]

16. Why do so many people on this subreddit try and deny that there is a Hybe bias on it?

  • 5 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I spend a lot of time on this subreddit and I stan two Hybe groups (Le Sserafim and Katseye) but the majority of groups I stan are not Hybe groups. Despite that I still enjoy this sub and its discussions most of the time. However I’ve noticed after spending so much time on this subreddit that some people often try to deny that there’s a Hybe bias. When they have a bad take that’s in support of Hybe and they get downvoted they’ll say “oh I guess this subreddit isn’t so Hybe biased after all’ or something to that effect. When people point out that people are just supporting a post because it shits on say New Jeans they get downvoted to hell whether the original post was made in good faith or not. Whenever people straight up say this subreddit has a Hybe bias people deny it. I just genuinely don’t understand why people try to deny something that’s so obviously true. Like I said at the beginning I only bias two groups from Hybe and I still enjoy this subreddit, so I don’t understand why people try to deny the fact that this subreddit has a Hybe bias because it doesn’t seem to be hurting the subreddit. submitted by /u/Strawberry_0cean [link] [comments]
