Where are the matching streams, chart positions, or cultural impact? Let’s break it down: Despite selling millions, the album didn’t chart on the Billboard 200, not even in the lower ranks. Spotify Global: No song from the album entered the Global Daily Top 50, and the highest-performing track barely scrapes into the 200s for a day or two before vanishing. Apple Music Global? Non-existent. YouTube: No music video is pulling explosive numbers outside of the fandom bubble. No Hot 100 entries. No long-term charting. No virality. EXO-ls act like EXO was the standard for K-pop boy groups, but let’s be honest — their entire career peaked during a time when SM was still coasting on old formulas. Their success was more about timing than innovation. “Growl” was huge, sure, but after that? A string of safe comebacks, recycled SM sounds, and endless member departures. Their fanbase praises them like they broke new ground musically, but in reality, they stuck to the same SM structure without evolving much. Most of EXO’s discography doesn’t hold up today unless you’re blinded by nostalgia. And when it comes to concept experimentation or performance energy? Groups like NCT and aespa have taken that baton and ran with it. NCT is way more experimental and boundary-pushing, while aespa’s world-building and digital concept integration are years ahead of what EXO ever tried. EXO stayed in a comfort zone, and now that K-pop has moved forward, their once “legendary” image feels outdated. It’s okay to admit they were big in their time, but acting like they’re still the blueprint is just delusion at this point. Every time a post about BLACKPINK’s global popularity pops up, there’s always a few ONCEs in the replies crying about how “TWICE deserves that level of success.” But here’s the thing — deserve doesn’t mean receive. K-pop is a global industry now, and the audience doesn’t care about who’s been around longer or who releases more music. They care about impact, image, and presence. And that’s where TWICE has consistently fallen behind. ONCEs love to talk about how TWICE works harder, releases more music, and has “better vocals” — but where is the actual push for global success? Where are the fandom-wide streaming projects, the virality, the hype-building? They can’t even be bothered to promote TWICE's English releases properly — the songs drop and vanish, while BLINKs will literally camp out on every platform making sure a BLACKPINK release dominates. It’s also ironic how ONCEs constantly whine about unfair comparisons but only bring up BLACKPINK when trying to validate TWICE. “TWICE paved the way for GGs!” “TWICE has better discography!” “TWICE would be bigger if they had YG’s budget!” It’s been almost a decade — maybe it's time to accept that they simply took different routes. BLACKPINK went the global domination, fashion-icon, brand-ambassador, viral route. TWICE took the domestic consistency and idol-fan-service route. And that’s fine. But stop acting like one deserves the other’s success without doing the legwork. You can’t complain about being “underrated” forever while ignoring the reality of marketing, branding, and international relevance. I'm still new to the scene, but since I've been doing it for around two years I have come to the conclusion that a long with the overall kpop community sometimes being toxic that the kpop dance community is also toxic as hell. All over the world there are dance crews and dancers trying their best to dance their favorite kpop songs to post on their socials and perform at events / competitions, but the amount of people who really think they are idols or professional dancers is absolutely ridiculous. What start out as a fun hobby turned into dance crew drama, people who have no professional dance experience thinking they are better than everyone else, fatphobia, and racial exclusion. There are people who legit think they are running a label and treat it like their dance mates are under actual legally binding contracts.
