13.674. The "Early Gen 3 Girl Groups" Rate!

  • 4 months ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hello everyone! We are excited to take a trip back in time to revisit some K-Pop classics once again, continuing with this rate, the "Early Gen 3" Girl Groups Rate! (If you haven't already, make sure to join r/kpoprates to ensure that you stay updated on future rate-related posts!) Quick Links: Ballot submission: Link to Reddit Chat to message a ballot // Ballot template (Google Docs ver.) // Ballot template (Pastebin) Playlists: Spotify // Youtube (Audio ver.) // Youtube (Lyrics ver.) // Youtube (MV ver.) Deadline: July 7th (Monday), 11:59 Pacific (Link to a timezone converter) How the songs were selected: We used the /r/kpop Top Ten Tuesdays results to grab the most adored songs from each of the artists on Reddit, and we also had a songlist feedback survey on /r/kpoprates to help decide the songlist! Now, without further ado, let's introduce the 55 songs (& 7 bonus songs) that were selected for this rate, ordered chronologically for each artist (artists were also ordered by debut date): . Spica: Russian Roulette You Don’t Love Me EXID: Every Night Up & Down Ah Yeah Hot Pink Night Rather Than Day DDD I Love You HelloVenus: Wiggle Wiggle I’m ill Mysterious Crayon Pop: Bar Bar Bar AOA: Miniskirt Short Hair Like a Cat Heart Attack Good Luck 10 Seconds Excuse Me FIESTAR: One More You’re Pitiful Ladies’ Code: Pretty Pretty Galaxy The Rain BESTie: Love Options Excuse me Mamamoo: Piano Man You’re the Best Décalcomanie Starry Night Egotistic Wind Flower Gogobebe HIP Laboum: Journey to Atlantis Hwi Hwi Lovelyz: Ah-Choo Destiny WoW! Now, We That Day Sonamoo: Friday Night GFriend: Me Gustas Tu Rough Navillera Fingertip Time For The Moon Night Apple Mago Brave Girls: Deepened Rollin’ We Ride Chi Mat Ba Ram After We Ride . Bonus Rate: The bonus rate is basically an extension of the main rate! There were several songs that received high praise during the songlist feedback survey that still were barely not able to make the main rate, so we have put them into the bonus rate here to give them a chance to be rated. . EXID - Lady HelloVenus - Venus Crayon Pop - FM Fiestar - Mirror Ladies’ Code - Bad Girl Laboum - Between Us GFriend - Labyrinth . The Bonus Rate is optional and you do not have to submit a score for every song in the bonus list if you do it: you can score none of them, all of them, or any number in between. You cannot give a 0 or 11 to any song in the bonus, as they are not part of the main rate. While it is optional, we hope you consider participating. Spotify playlist YouTube playlist (MV version) YouTube playlist (Audio version) YouTube playlist (Lyrics version) Rules: You must listen to and assign a score to EVERY song listed. If your ballot is missing any scores it will not be eligible and you'll be sent a message asking you to fill in the missing scores. Each song should be assigned a score between 1 to 10. Decimals up to one point are allowed but any further is a no-no – 6.9 is fine, but 6.99 is not. You can use ONE 0 and ONE 11 for the entirety of the rate, for your least favorite and most favorite song respectively - they are optional but HIGHLY encouraged if you feel some type of way about any given song! Comments are also encouraged but not required for such scores (except if you give a song a 0). Comments are encouraged and much appreciated (but not required, except for if you give a 0) and can be added to any song by simply typing after the numerical score, like so: Hip: 2.4 Ofc the title track that utilizes Mamamoo's vocal power the least ends up becoming the most popular (yells angrily at cloud) This is the ONLY correct way to format a comment. Please do not include colons (ex. 9: I stan!), dashes (ex. 3.3 - This song sucks), or any other symbol after your score/before your comment as it breaks the program. You can also give comments for individual artists! Just write your comment after the :, such as the following: EXID: Are they pronounced like "exit" or are you supposed to say every letter separately? I'll never know For this rate and most future rates, we have a ballot average minimum of 4.00. In addition, if your ballot average is between 4.00-5.50, you must leave comments on your lower scores (which we define as any score that's a 3 or lower). {Do not worry about having to calculate your ballot average, once you submit your ballot, we will tell you if you need to make changes to your ballot for it to be accepted.} SUBMITTING A BALLOT: * Link to Reddit Chat to message a ballot As Reddit is (unfortunately) moving away from the private messaging system in favor of utilizing the Reddit chat system, we are forced to also adopt the Reddit chat system for messaging. You can make a copy of either the Google Docs or Pastebin ballot templates below, add your scores on your local copy/file, and send the link to your local copy/file in your Reddit Chat message to u/KpopRates_Ghost. * Google Docs ballot template * Pastebin ballot template Google spreadsheet template that you can use to calculate averages, record scores, and make predictions Alternatively, if you have Discord, you can message the link to your ballot to both the rate hosts, @Zypker124 and @aidshha. Articles / Timeline 250422 This day marks one year since HYBE launched their audit of Min Hee Jin and ADOR's management. Happy(?) 1st anniversary of the Megathreads! 250502 The 3rd hearing for Min Hee Jin vs. Belift Lab was set to take place but postponed to July 18th at Belift Lab's request. Each side is due to present their arguments/documents regarding plagiarism issues at the next meeting. (Source: Maeil Kyungjae) 250530 We learned that ADOR had filed for 'indirect enforcement' after their injunction was granted and NewJeans performed at ComplexCon back in March (Filed on April 4th according to the statement from NewJeans' representatives linked below). On the 30th, the 52nd Division of the Seoul Central District court further granted this request. The 'indirect enforcement' ruling means that each individual member of NewJeans will be fined 1 billion won (approx. $725,000) if they continue with entertainment activities independent of ADOR, which would be in violation of the injunction. This enforcement with potential fines does NOT apply to any of NewJeans' independent activities between the granting of the injunction and the granting of this 'indirect enforcement'. These fines will only apply to future activities going forward, or at least until rulings with NewJeans' appeal or the main contract validity case changes anything (next hearing on June 5th). (Source: Chosun Biz, MK Sports) The Korea Herald: Court orders NewJeans to pay Ador 1 billion won for each unauthorized activity Discussion Post Korea JoongAng Daily: Court orders NewJeans members to pay ADOR $725,600 for every independent entertainment activity A statement by NewJeans' representatives was made later in the day primarily acknowledging the indirect enforcement ruling, but reiterating that it is temporary and will no longer have an effect if NewJeans win their appeal of the injunction. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. (Sources: X Sport News, Maeil Kyungjae) 250612 The next hearing regarding the Shareholder Agreement termination and exercising put/call options lawsuits between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held at the Seoul Central District Court's 31st Division. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. (Sources: Maeil Kyungjae, TV Daily, Sports Today) 250617 Following up from April 16th when NewJeans appealed the court's decision to uphold the injunction and halt on their independent activities, the Seoul High Court reaffirmed the earlier decision. The court rejected NewJeans' appeal. They determined there was no significant change in the material/arguments presented for the appeal and the original decision to grant ADOR's injunction was justified. There was further clarification that the management conflict between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, and her no longer being NewJeans' producer, did not constitute a valid argument for the alleged collapse of trust between ADOR and NewJeans. The group's withdrawal from ADOR is considered arbitrary, that their artistic freedom or activity is not impeded since they are able to do so within their exclusive contract, and that any damages resulting from attempting independent activities are self-inflicted. 1. engenes really annoys me so much

  • 30 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

engenes hate twt keeps appearing on my tl and whatever they have to say baffles me. for example yesterday txt were speaking up about an ex-trainee who used to hate beomgyu and that trainee went to the counselor to rant about beomgyu, suddenly engenes coming out in defense for "heeseung" and then moas told them txt didn't name-drop anyone including heeseung but they keep going the txt bully narrative because apparently txt are taking the debut spot of whoever is this trainee (even though its not heeseung) and bringing up the story of that trainee hatred towards beomgyu is bully behavior. and they even used txt story of getting physically abused back in trainee days as their stance in fanwars, that's so crazy because abuse is a serious thing. whenever their faves getting lashed like for making sunoo uncomfortable because of his weight they made a whole account and 7 mins long video lurking in txt contents and trying to shift the hate to txt. and one time i call these engenes out for being racist they questioned if i don't understand what racism is, they literally made and massively still using the gif comparing yeonjun to their fav's dog in a degrading way and not to forget they also made hashtag hating on black engenes on weverse. a few months ago moas found that sunghoon's figurine resembles ggum figurine, at first moas didnt know that it was artist made until engenes mocking yeonjun because he didn't design it himself while sunghoon designed it himself and from that on moas found out that he was holding ggum figurine in the making video. moas took it seriously because the original designer and his fellow showed hints of their dissatisfaction about this, but then engenes come up to his comment section calling him unprofessional and other names that he had to close the comment section. they also made hashtag mocking txt for "not selling out" their world tour, it's completely out of topic because it doesn't erase the obvious proofs that the plagiarism is there. and they keep coming to different platforms painting moas as the villain and even made tiktok videos talking about how bad txt world tour is. after a few weeks they're trying to shift the hate to txt again by claiming txt plagiarized their fav because they both have candles in their photo concept, they dont even have similar clothes or vibes and engenes even edit it out to try making it looks similar, this is so weird to me because even with all that editing it doesn't look similar at all. those are just a bit from their fandom that baffles me because these are so weird to me how this is so normalized in kpop submitted by /u/Additional-Tomato304 [link] [comments]

  • 1 hour ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

i just came accidentally the post a moa made in here a while ago and noticed how they are here trying to twist everything that is going on in here but there are literally screenshots of moas on x assuming who the trainee is and somehow they thought it was a great idea to bring up hs unprovoked in the situation but now that it kind of backfired they are upset and they are trying to act like engenes are being mean. my advice is you guys should stop mentioning enhypen so their fans don’t find you and get upset. i am not trying to be mean or hateful. it’s just weird to assume things and then get upset that people are finding your opinions bad. submitted by /u/AcceptableBreak6080 [link] [comments]

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I've been seeing this all over the internet recently that global fans are being blamed for him being eliminated from b2p. People have their preferences or one picks on the show and maybe he wasn't one of them. He ranked quite high for Korean votes but not for global votes. Maybe it was global fans fault but I honestly don't know. In my case I vote for Kim Jun Min or Zhang Jia Hao because they stood out to me and I thought they were really good. I didn't for Haneum cause I didn't like him or something. People have preferences for the styles, food, music, or hobbies they like. Same with voting for trainees in a survival show. Cause global fans have said to vote for talent that is exactly what I have done personally I think. PEOPLE HAVE PREFERENCES. submitted by /u/JuuginJefe [link] [comments]

12. Kang Woojin is the Perfect Idol

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’ve been a K-pop fan since 2014, and honestly, out of everyone in the top 16, Kang Woojin feels like the definition of a perfect idol. His face matches beauty standards so naturally, and what I love most is how versatile he looks, he can pull off both dark and bright concepts effortlessly. He might be a bit shy, which is understandable since he has 0 idol training, he’s still good with fan service (his cafe event was very cute). And seems fluent in English. Woojin is easily one of the most stable contestants. His vocals stay strong even while dancing, and his tone is so pleasant. Every live performance I’ve seen from him has been flawless. And about the whole “he can’t dance” agenda? I just don’t get it. He’s never looked out of place, even when performing with some of the best dancers in the show. Considering his height, the way he still matches their energy and synchronization is so impressive. The only thing holding him back is visibility. He gets almost no screen time, and Mnet rarely highlights his parts. It’s not that people don’t like him, it’s that they forget about him because he isn’t being shown. If Woojin had debuted back in early 3rd gen, I truly believe he would’ve been one of the most famous idols out there. He has everything: visuals, vocals, dance, and stage presence. submitted by /u/PolicyWhole5626 [link] [comments]

There have been other posts of them talking about their trainee days so I won’t start recounting them again, but Soobin and Taehyun went on live today and revealed some new stories they hadn’t shared before. TXT have never really been the ones to shy away from talking about their trainee experiences and saying things as they were, and this was no exception. Here is a summary of what they said in the live. Taehyun said he has seen MOAs ask questions like "how was TXT chosen?", "how did BigHit assemble all of them?", and the answer is that all of TXT were selected for the debut group solely based on their looks. He said Yeonjun was the only skilled person who was really good in everything and the rest of the debut team members were just chosen mainly because they were good looking. It was afterwards that BigHit really put them through the wringer to develop their skills. Before Beomgyu joined BigHit, TXT’s debut lineup was originally expected to have six or seven members. Yeonjun, Taehyun, and two other trainees were basically confirmed, so when their names were called as part of the debut team, everyone thought, “Of course.” But then Soobin’s name was announced, and everyone was confused. The other trainees wondered, “Why him?” and even Soobin himself was thinking, "Why me?" Hueningkai’s name was called and everyone was even more shocked. (Note: Hueningkai was added to the debut line-up 3 months after joining BigHit). Soobin said he and Hueningkai were really unskilled at that time and it didn’t seem like the company was paying any special attention to them, so they were not expecting to be announced as part of the debut line-up. When Beomgyu was added to the debut lineup not long after joining the company, he was treated coldly and negatively by most of the trainees. At that time, some trainees had left, and everyone was still struggling to secure a spot in the debut lineup. Then Beomgyu came in and was added to the debut lineup not long after. This caused many trainees to resent and hate Beomgyu to the point that one/some of them had to go for counseling because of it. Soobin said he saw himself in Beomgyu at that time because he also faced a lot of unfair prejudice when he joined the company, so he especially looked out for Beomgyu during that period. However, he said that Beomgyu did change that negative perception later on because he was very kind, got along with everyone, and adapted quickly. Beomgyu later said that he was clueless about those things back then because he was just focused on trying to survive. Soobin said that out of all the older and younger members, only Wooyoung and Yeosang (currently ATEEZ) weren’t strict with him, which he really appreciated. He didn’t like it when younger members were too formal, so he’d ask them to speak more casually. Sometimes the younger members went too far, but Soobin would just laugh it off. However, Wooyoung would always step in, gather the younger trainees and tell them "You shouldn’t treat Soobin like that." At the time, Soobin said he didn’t think much of it, but looking back, he’s really thankful for what Wooyoung did. Taehyun said he rarely cried, only when the hyung trainees were leaving. When Yeosang and Wooyoung left, he said he cried and was really sad. And then, like psychos, the rookie development team members told him, “Taehyun, try singing with the emotions you’re feeling right now.” 😭 Around the time TXT was preparing for their debut, the members were practicing late at night, often from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. One night, they kept hearing strange noises outside the practice room. Even as trainees, they already had some fans, so they assumed someone had snuck in to peek through the door. Since they weren’t supposed to be revealed yet, they couldn’t risk going out themselves, so their dance teacher stepped out to check. The teacher came back looking visibly shaken, saying it was too scary to explain. When the members went to see for themselves, they found a series of albums from another artist placed neatly on each step of the staircase, each one marked with an X. According to them, It looked like some kind of curse ritual and the scene gave everyone chills. They were so frightened they didn’t even clean it up and just went back inside, completely shaken. TranslatingTXT, our fandom translation account, has not translated the live fully yet, so these are just some tidbits I got from some other translation accounts. I’m sure there will be more stories and details to come out when the live is translated. submitted by /u/ilovemeeeeee [link] [comments]

15. New casual fan looking for song recommendations!!

Hii! I've been keenly aware of k-pop having been in adjacent fandoms since I was on the internet basically and I've always wanted to find more k-pop songs to listen to! I quite like a variety of content, but I do tend to move more toward more 'intense' music in favor of soft and slow ballad-type stuff (though I won't knock it immediately!) The few songs I do know and LOVE are genuinely ANCIENT (Think early BIGBANG - Fantastic Baby and BANGBANGBANG, Block B - Nillili Mambo) but I adore that vibe, so anything similar is probably an instant fav too! Thanks in advance for any recommendations you guys can make! :3 submitted by /u/RoseInAJar [link] [comments]
