654. Do idols live with their families after debut?

  • 5 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Ik it sounds weird but i've heard of some idols living with their family while training but do they move into dorms after debut? Idk if these are true but i've heard that Krystal, IU, Suzy, Taemin and Yeri lived with their parents while training. I'm mainly asking this because I became curious after watching Babymonsters Last evaluation again. Rora used to live with her parents and used to commute around 2 hours one way to YG everyday after school but idk how she has enough time for that since she goes to SOPA now and releases new music pretty often. submitted by /u/AvocadoFun3905 [link] [comments]

659. Kpop is still good you just have to find what you want

  • 5 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Regardless of all the talk about 'which generation is better' or 'that kpop is no longer what is used to be', 'all groups talk about how famous or rich they are', blah blah; Kpop is still very much good. You just need to perhaps listen outside the few idols and groups that make it to your recommendation page. I've known of kang daniel since the paranoia era. That man always delivers. I'm not a hard stan but you need to appreciate when artists do art. He never really followed trends and maybe that's why general kpop stans don't pay much attention to artists like him, he is not "less famous" either. He released "episode" recently https://youtu.be/eMCLXX4KrT0?si=Dq7tYqrkwr-DXRdj. What a banger song. It's not earwormy or tiktok music. Just a solid fun song. His live stages are so fun to watch too. The music video is beautiful and intriguing. You can say he is 3rd gen and that's why but that's not my point. ZB1 released "blue" which still is a good release even if it's a more commercial song, "doctor doctor" is a very unique sound in kpop today (very 2014 bts if you will). Bbgirls (whom I will call fifth gen lmao) released "love2". It's just such a feel good song, the choreography is very charming too. Their debut album b side lemonade, which i just watched btw, is a easy listen, very mature classy sound which is less seen in kpop today. Groups like unis, still use strong melodies and good amount of Korean ( you know since it's kpop) and make good catchy songs. Xlov is doing something new in kpop, breaking molds in 2025 isn't easy but here they are. I've seen a lot of people posting about kpop is no longer fun or good it's about flexing , brands, im better than you etc, yea i mean that was bound to happen but outside that bubble kpop is still good and thriving. submitted by /u/seokjinseyebrows [link] [comments]

664. We don’t need fans to hype up more great dancers

  • 5 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This post inspired by fanwars over Katseye & Allday Project stans claiming their fave is “the best dancer the industry ever had”. Fans are going on and on about how their faves can dance every genre, choreograph multiple dance, trained for X years, blah blah blah. Cool. But let me ask: Can they sing? Can they rap? Because if the answer is "no" or "barely," then I don’t care how many pirouettes or body rolls they can do, they’re not what K-pop needs more of. Everyone who debuts has been through years of training. Most idols can dance. Some can choreograph. Many can freestyle. It’s not rare anymore. A rare one is an actual strong vocalist and skilled rapper. A real performer who delivers musically, not just visually. Newsflash: K-pop is a music industry. If you can’t do the music part, what are you doing here? We need to stop rewarding idols who bring zero to the table vocally or lyrically. It’s not enough to just be a dancer anymore. The idol standard needs to rise. Also, I know some people claim Katseye is not kpop but oh, how dare I am not include them in this type of conversation when their fans constantly comparing their fav with other kpop dancer. submitted by /u/Personal_Damage6616 [link] [comments]

For me, it would have to be "Dimple" by BTS. '[That dimple is] illegal (illegal). [No, it’s dangerous] oh yes. So I call you illegirl (illegirl).' ILLEGIRL?? Or, "God's Menu" by Stray Kids. 667. Kpop fans' inability to handle any kind of discussion that isn't overwhelmingly positive

  • 5 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

You cannot go in depth with discussions surrounding ANYTHING because people will accuse you for being a miserable hateful wench who try to ruin people's lifes. One insane thing I've noticed about kpop communities is that when you're criticizing a group (in terms or marketin, sound, concept, ANYTHING) you have to end or start your sentence with "I'm not hating on them I promise". Like people have to be spoonfed useless information or else they'll get rabid. submitted by /u/Chocopieluv [link] [comments]

669. Why ARMY is welcoming BTS back with "Home"

  • 5 days ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

In the very last chorus of "Home", BTS' 5th track off of their EP "Map of the soul: Persona" (released April 12, 2019), the vocal line members (Jin, Jimin, V, Jungkook) sing: "It’s been a long time, mi casa (my home) With you I just feel rich I’ve returned, hi mi casa (다녀왔어 Hi Mi Casa) You had it turned on, your switch Yeah Even without saying anything, it’s indeed comfortable It was because you were here that it became my home" "다녀오겠습니다" Is a Korean phrase that literally means "I'll go and come back" while "다녀왔습니다" is "I've returned after going away". They are common expressions used when someone is leaving a place where they "belong", emotionally or physically (thank you doolset for context). BTS have used both regularly over the years, usually from planes as they leave for their tours and trips, and in this song, it's laced throughout as they greet the listener after having been away for some time. With military enlistment feeling much the same, it is with this song that ARMY plans to welcome BTS back in June 2025, as Suga, the last member still enlisted gets officially discharged, and we have all seven members of BTS back together since their enlistment era started with the eldest, Jin's on 13th December 2022 (it would have been a total of 2.5 years) So why this song? Besides the title "Home" feeling the most apt, the song itself holds a lot of meaning for BTS and ARMY, and I thought I would elaborate on that in this post. In the Vlive RM did talking about "behind the scenes" stories for their "MOTS: Persona" album, he explains the album's theme: "For me, 'Persona' is the social self. It represents our social mask. A mask could be either good or bad. It is what we present to the outside world as we lead our social and economic life." "Many asked us, 'So what incredible and grand message will you send after this?' (after the 'Love Yourself' era)....do we have to talk about something more grand?.....we decided that it was time to find and know ourselves. Instead of grand things, maybe it's time to talk about the smaller things" "But isn't this for ARMYs? How does this connect back to the fans? I thought about it myself.......But for me, my persona is RM or BTS. That's my social mask and my self. But the mask and persona itself is ARMY. BTS = ARMY. ARMY = BTS. RM = ARMY. There's something I got through the persona or the mask. To talk about all the shadows and good things I've gained, I couldn't help but talk about ARMY." "So except for 'Intro: Persona' and the last track 'Dionysus', from track 2 to 6 --> 'Boy with luv', 'Mikrokosmos', 'Make it right', 'Home', 'Jamais vu', those tracks are our tribute to ARMY, or a serenade to you........writing the lyrics therefore came very organically to me, with a single sentiment.......the best and most beautiful words I can ever think of for the people I'm grateful to on my knees, those who have made me where I am now.....the lyrics on this album are more important than any other album." About the song "Home" specifically, he elaborates further: "Anyways, as the one who made this song, it's embarrassing to say, but 'Home' means you (ARMY). Wherever you are in the world, the place where you are is our home. That's the place we should go back to. We will return. The one who wasn't welcomed in 'Make it right' will go back 'home'." This is why the song holds so much significance for BTS and ARMYs. As a personal interpretation, from what he said here and the lyrics, the song feels like it describes BTS venturing into unfamiliar spaces as their fame rose in the west, getting disillusioned, tested, and consciously making the decision to focus on their fans and nothing else. The members, way back in 2019, claimed us as their home, a place to come back to no matter where they've ventured. And now, after being apart in the literal sense for close to 3 years, they get to come back to all those who've waited for them, their mi casa and say "I've returned". The song's lyrics itself feel so apt and are beautifully written, so I thought I'd highlight some parts (translated by doyoubangtan) "I'm exhausted Guess what? I just wanna go home" "Because of the crazy fluttering of my heart, I wasn't even able to say goodbye Yeah I'm going out baby The entire world's my home" "Oh yeah I did it, me shine with flashin lights Got lotta friends, a tranquil space of mine Yeah I remember, a time I thought I'd be able to do anything I saw the ocean, yeah, even before opening this door" "As if all things would be possible if I opened that door As if I was going to show the world how it's done I left the house (In the hope all these dreams wouldn't end as a mirage)" "It's like the more I fill it, the more it becomes empty The more people I'm with, it's like I'm more alone Half closed eyes, a sleepless night The place where you are - That place is probably mi casa Turn it on earlier, your switch Even without saying anything, It'll be comfortable If you're there, anywhere and everywhere becomes my home" "The world thinks we've got everything The big house, big cars, big rings of dreams, Even if I have everything I wanted I still feel unfulfilled, an unfamiliar feeling to be felt by someone who has achieved everything But a door I exit because I have a place to return At the fork in the road, I keep remembering You, who knew me in my shabbiness In thinking of you. I'm able to smile A place where you are - That place is probably mi casa" So what are we doing exactly? I am not one of the organisers of this project or anything. Just another ARMY who deeply felt the sentiments of those who voted on this song for our welcome project and wanted to elaborate on it a bit. I'll link here the main activities that are being planned for this project, but it doesn't need to be anything too grand. For any ARMY who would like to join in this venture - it's basically to give the song "Home" an extra few listens this upcoming week, watch the excellent performances of it that we have (the one on Jimmy Fallon's show is excellent, but so is the one at KBS Gayo) perhaps buy it on Itunes if you have the resources to, and share your favorite parts of the song, lyrics or verses, stories you may have about it, so that we can all walk away with a little more appreciation for it. Every little gesture counts 💜 We finally have our seven men HOME, and man if that isn't cause for the biggest celebration! 🥳💜Big hugs and purple hearts to everyone who is feeling as happy as I am on this day. P.S: let's make sure to send extra love to Yoongi, to let him know how dearly we've missed him, and how happy we are to have him back. submitted by /u/zikachhakchhuak [link] [comments]
