874. Why is the unpopular opinions sub so dead?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Sorry if this is a banned topic mods, I apologize. As far as I know, there's a manual process of getting posts approved on that sub. However, the mods have basically killed the sub by not being active, in my opinion. It's fine if you have less time, but at least do away with the approval process and let people post and actually use the sub. It's too bad because I actually enjoy the format of the posts there. submitted by /u/KillerKingKobra [link] [comments]

877. Why I think Woozi really messed up on Street Woman Fighter

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

As some of you may know, Woozi produced the Leader Class song called ECHO! for the latest season of Street Woman Fighter which aired last week. A lot of Korean fans of the show voiced frustration over the track different reasons. One of the major issues was with the lyrics. The chorus, which is the main section the choreographies are made for, goes something like this: The Hoshi x Woozi who were here came back without dying The Hoshi x Woozi who were here got all the vibe Echo What you gon' do (Eh Eh) What you gon' what you gon' what you gon' (Eh Eh) Our music let's feel the echo (Eh Eh) What you gon' what you gon' what you gon' do (Eh Eh) What you gon' what you gon' do now A lot of viewers felt the lyrics were inconsiderate toward the invited dancers. These Class Mission songs are supposed to be all about the dancers, not the producers or idols. So including Hoshi and Woozi’s names in the lyrics left a sour taste for many. When I first watched last week's episode, I didn’t think too much of it, probably because I couldn’t even make out the lyrics. Then the new episode aired yesterday, and I just finished watching it. Rie Hata's choreography was selected for the mission and she ended up winning (thank goodness). For those unfamiliar with her, Rie is one of the most renowned choreographers in the world. She's worked with nearly every big K-pop artist out there (BTS, TWICE, G-Dragon, Stray Kids, EXO, Red Velvet, Aespa, you name it). When the judges asked her why she deserved to be the main dancer for the mission, she spoke from the heart about her journey as a dancer. She said: My career began as Lady Gaga's backup dancer when I was 18. Now that I work as a choreographer, I've gotten used to not dancing the routines I create. I've spent years as a dancer, performing on big stages, whether it's BTS making my choreography shine or G-Dragon bringing it to life. But no matter how big the stage is, I was still just a backup dancer behind a star. This time, though, it's different. It's a music video where we, the dancers, are in the spotlight, not the artists. That kind of opportunity is rare. Since this is a chance for dancers to truly shine, I want to be the main dancer. She even shed tears of joy when she was eventually chosen as the main dancer. And seeing how emotional she got, despite being such an accomplished figure, made me wish even more that she had been given a better song to work with. The outcome itself was amazing. Rie was a fantastic director, and the final MV turned out great. But watching them dance to those lyrics left me feeling conflicted. It made it seem like these incredible dancers were once again just performing for the artist. Choreography is a HUGE reason why K-pop has been so globally successful. Without these amazing choreographers, K-pop wouldn’t be where it is today. They’re the creative force behind the moves that go viral, the performances that fans remember, and the identities that groups build around. So when they finally get a moment to shine, it should feel like theirs. I just wish they had been more considerate when giving the song to the dancers. submitted by /u/Carelessies [link] [comments]

881. Now that BTS are coming back, which solo excited you the most?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Some context: I don't really stan BTS. I respect them as artists and enjoy some of their songs but I am not like a FAN. So for me, BTS solos were an opportunity to see a completely new side and individual personality of the members since I don't follow fan content. Would love to hear which solo project excited you the most (BTS fan or not). For me, Taehyung's album was the favorite. I love the direction he took. It's more of a slow-core r&b project but I really like this type of sound. I don't know if he was involved in songwriting but the songs felt very personal which is always a plus for me. Definitely looking forward to more Layover type projects from him. After that I'd say Jungkook. He went for a more traditional pop boy route but he really killed it. The album is a no skip. The only problem was it was a little cliche and safe so I hope he takes more risks in the next project. He definitely has the skill and talent to do so. 885. Best hair colour on your favourite idol or best idol wearing a certain colour?

  • 1 week ago schedule

I'll start. I think the orange hair on Jimin was ICONIC, because it's been almost 10 years since then but I still see people talking about how they got into BTS because of the 'orange haired guy whose name I didn't know was Jimin at the time' 🤣. And I see a lot of people mentioning this fancam of him (which was also my first BTS and K-pop related fancam, and I've never been the same since): https://youtu.be/pl_39WIvMbY?si=7dXaei_0MmJZ771S submitted by /u/Tangerine_Min [link] [comments]

887. What happened to concert etiquette? Post-concert thoughts

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Just got back from Bibi concert and first and foremost, she is AMAZING!! So good live and fantastic crowd work. Our very own comedian (although in her own words, she’s “too pretty to be one”). I kept trying to remind myself that I went to enjoy her music live and so I walk away with an overall positive opinion of her show. HOWEVER, I also have a range of thoughts and feels. Main note: concert etiquette is a lost art. More than half of the show, I was trying to enjoy the vibes but found myself slightly pissed off that I paid for “unobstructed” seats yet could only see people’s backs. I completely understand wanting to dance and cheer for your fave artists cuz you don’t want to be a dead audience. But, if there’s floor seating that’s meant for standing and the rest of the venue has sloped seats, why on earth would you stand the entire show? And yes you can indeed see the whole stage whilst seated. I wanted to attach pictures for reference of my view when people stood vs not, but it won’t let me. Note that the rest of the section was seated minus the seats going 4 rows right in front of me. Also if you have floor and are standing, you should be doing more than standing still. If only there was a way to determine vibes to seats. The main character syndrome gets me because we’re in the back section of a mid-sized theater and she’s not going to notice you mid-song if she’s on stage. Also, no shade to the girls directly in front of me for standing cuz I know the rows in front stood too so they were just trying to see. But this all started because one girl front row of our section decided to stand and dance the whole time. I did try to tap the girls in front of me (she was prob 5’11” to my 5’4” height so even with sloped seats I could barely see above her head). I asked if they could try doing a tap forward to all stay seated but understood if they were uncomf, and they were indeed uncomf so they didn’t ask in front of them. But yea, spent the concert staring at the big screen instead of seeing the full stage, Bibi, and her dancers which was a major bummer. On the back side too, there were issues. Please tell me why the people in the suites were talking the whole time? These middle aged men were clearly drunk and talking over her! And you know it’s bad when the front floor section also turned back to see who was making the noise. I legit went back to ask if they could take their convo outside since it was distracting to the rest of the crowd and luckily they toned it down a bit. TLDR; concert etiquette now is abysmal and dampens the experience. I feel like an a-hole for being so cranky and speaking up in these situations. On one hand I get that you want to enjoy it to the fullest, but on the other hand I don’t get how you can, if it’s affecting other’s experiences. I feel like there’s a time and place but also very much open to other people’s thoughts if they’ve experienced the same things or think I should chill a bit. submitted by /u/3-michelin-stars [link] [comments]
