45. It’s wild how some idols (like Wendy or TXT Soobin) are openly queer and nobody seems to care

  • 9 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Like I was really surprised to find out Wendy is just completely open and public about having a girlfriend And TXT’s Soobin has apparently been dating a male idol and they’ve been posting about their dates and couple pics on their official social media?? I had no idea but it looks like neither of them were trying to hide it at all and all his hardcore Chinese fans know about it I thought there were basically no popular kpop idols who are openly out aside from like, Holland
Am I the only one who finds it crazy how much the Korean public apparently simply ignores even when these celebs are open about being LGBT? submitted by /u/OddBird2913 [link] [comments]

46. i wish there were more non-concert activities happening in europe (such as fanmeets, random pop ups, etc)

  • 9 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Look, I’m from a country that has concerts so I probably sound ungrateful and I’m gonna get couple of comments saying “try being from [insert country here]” but let’s be fr. Most of these iconic videos we hear of always takes place in America and Canada. Y’all remember that Ateez video where (I think) Wooyoung wore a disguise and went to a random play dance? That was based in America, even the P1Harmony at the park in Toronto not that long ago because their concert had to be delayed. This got me thinking, when was the last time we had anything like that? It has been so long since we had a non-concert based activity, possibly over a decade ago when K-pop groups were just starting to come round. Heck, we had Paris Fashion Week and Ateez in Portugal. But why don’t we have anything like that in a place like London? You know, the most visited city in Europe? I’m surprised they haven’t decided to go to a random park like Hyde Park and randomly started dancing. I think the only closest thing we had was dearAlice going to random schools and performing, but I don’t think they count? They’re already based in London so of course it makes sense to do that. I feel like it would be cool to have a fanmeet tour in their major cities. I have multiple reason why I rest my case. First of all, there’s so many K-pop fans in the UK, let alone in Europe. Second of all, people are WILLING to travel far and beyond for this sort of thing. Third of all, it would loosen the tension with concert VIPs since once a K-pop group starts it off and another does the same, BOOM it becomes an activity that could be a (hopefully) cheaper alternative to seeing them at concert since you’re guaranteed to chat to the members. Heck, maybe this could be the new thing that they can do instead of send off. Maybe it can be a “meet your K-pop idol” thing before the concert. That way, nobody needs to leave before they finish their concert and can enjoy the show until the end! No more spending £1000/€1000 just to be at the very back! Why haven’t K-pop companies do something like that??? It could even be a ticketed event, or it’s included in the VIP ticket with their concert ticket! If Psychic Fever can do that, surely K-pop groups could do the same? (And maybe it can be a limited number of tickets to prevent overcrowding?) Sorry I wanted to rant here, I was banned from kpop thoughts for no reason at all 😔 submitted by /u/asahilovesjjong [link] [comments]

48. we don’t owe you an explanation as to why we don’t feel comfortable stanning kpop groups because of their ages.

  • 9 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Idk if this is unpopular for most K-pop fans, but I feel like people born after 2008 REALLY need to hear this because I get this a lot from them. For a while, I felt uncomfortable stanning ENHYPEN because of the fact that it was the first time seeing a K-pop idol that was my age and every time I tell someone I don’t feel comfortable stanning them because of their age, they always like to ask “why?” Why? WHY? Because I feel uncomfortable, duh??? Do they really expect me to write a full on essay as to why I don’t feel comfortable just to get their validation??? Like I don’t get it????? So you want to put someone in an uncomfortable position just so you can judge them and snark on them because you “didn’t like their opinion?” Most people are used to seeing members born in the 90s and seeing 2000s babies are a recent thing, and we’re already seeing those born in 2008-2009 and we’re 5-6 years in since 3rd gen kpop ended. In 2020, 2002-2005 babies would be the maknae, now they’re the OLDEST. I swear there’s already a 2010 trainee, but I wouldn’t want to stan them because they’re creeping into my baby niece territory and I feel uncomfortable with it. There are multiple reasons why someone doesn’t want to stan a group, and most of their reasons are personal and they don’t need to be telling people their business for your own sake. Just accept that they don’t feel comfortable with it and move on. submitted by /u/asahilovesjjong [link] [comments]

52. Just because you don't like Hyuna doesn't mean you can body shame her

  • 11 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

TW: body shaming, EDs If you haven’t seen it yet, Hyuna’s last post was basically old pictures of herself when she was skinnier, with a caption saying she’s been eating a lot lately and she should get it together and go on a diet again. This came right after a WAVE of viral reels and posts where people were calling her “fat”, calling her a jumpscare, accusing her of being pregnant, saying she’s “glowed down” compared to Dawn. Those videos and tweets have hundreds and thousands of likes, like I'm talking 300k+ and people in the comments are tearing her to literal SHREDS. This is a woman who ONLY RECENTLY started eating properly. A woman who admitted to fainting 16 TIMES A MONTH because of being underweight. She has vasovagal syncope, meaning if she drops too low in weight, she literally starts collapsing. From 2016-2022 - the entire time she was with Dawn - she was in such a bad physical state that her staff would wait on the sidelines of shoots and shows with OXYGEN TANKS because she could not record anything without collapsing. Her longtime makeup artist, even said she developed a reflex where, instead of focusing on Hyuna’s makeup during retouches, she would instinctively watch Hyuna’s eyes, because more often than not, she would be completely out of it from exhaustion. That’s how unhealthy she was. And what’s ironic is that in those recent videos, she seemed the happiest and most stable she’s looked in years, and her staff too, said that only recently (2022) has she started actually getting better and that they actually CRIED after Q&A MV shoot was wrapped up because it was the first time Hyuna didn't faint in YEARS. So no, you don’t have to like Hyuna. That’s fine. But to pile on her and cyberbully her for the millionth time, to say she’s “glowed down” to the point where she makes a post about wanting to diet again - when in reality she’s healthier and happier than she’s ever been - is just cruel. Kpop fans can’t just be normal about idols’ weight. Take Jeongyeon for example, just because people like her, the reaction to her gaining weight is over-the-top hype to the point it feels fake and uncomfortable. There's no balanced reaction with Kpop fans, It’s either that extreme or it’s the complete opposite, where people rip someone apart so viciously that it becomes downright cruel, like what’s happening with Hyuna. And if you think body shaming her somehow makes you morally justified, it just proves your morals were fake to begin with, you don’t have any. You’re not righteous, you’re just a vile person. submitted by /u/Special-Ad6201 [link] [comments]

55. There should be stricter dress codes at fan signs

  • 12 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I know this happened months ago but I'm still thinking about the P1harmony fan sign incident where a girl showed up in a very revealing dress, Now I get the people who are defending her saying she can wear whatever she wants but the way she went up to Theo and asked him to put a collar on her and called her though "his puppy" had to be some form of sexual harassment right? I hate to be that person but if this was a male fan at a girl group fan signed the reactions would have been WAY different submitted by /u/im_army_sti11 [link] [comments]
