The subreddit is mostly uncensored as long as people follow the rules. Generalizing statement about Korea, Korean society, etc or most other countries are not acceptable except under the following standards: The only claims that are acceptable when generalizing Korean society in this sub are those that bring up generalizable stastical claims by the standards of the international statistics institute. Not only do the vast majority of stastistics you can find on the internet about Korea not up to this minimum, basic standard but this requirement includes having ample sample size, blocking by relevant demographics and sometimes even double blind tests. So if you make a generalizing claim, your wording must be properly formatted and links to the relevant studies provided. In other words, the standard for making a generalization is very high in this sub. Not to mention the wording for your claim has to be properly made. Anyone who has taken a college level statistics class will know what I am talking about and we may even require you to provide the confidence level interval if it's relevant for your study. If you cannot meet these standards, I would just avoid doing it in general. submitted by /u/Kpop_Love_Forever [link] [comments]

TW: body shaming, EDs If you haven’t seen it yet, Hyuna’s last post was basically old pictures of herself when she was skinnier, with a caption saying she’s been eating a lot lately and she should get it together and go on a diet again. This came right after a WAVE of viral reels and posts where people were calling her “fat”, calling her a jumpscare, accusing her of being pregnant, saying she’s “glowed down” compared to Dawn. Those videos and tweets have hundreds and thousands of likes, like I'm talking 300k+ and people in the comments are tearing her to literal SHREDS. This is a woman who ONLY RECENTLY started eating properly. A woman who admitted to fainting 16 TIMES A MONTH because of being underweight. She has vasovagal syncope, meaning if she drops too low in weight, she literally starts collapsing. From 2016-2022 - the entire time she was with Dawn - she was in such a bad physical state that her staff would wait on the sidelines of shoots and shows with OXYGEN TANKS because she could not record anything without collapsing. Her longtime makeup artist, even said she developed a reflex where, instead of focusing on Hyuna’s makeup during retouches, she would instinctively watch Hyuna’s eyes, because more often than not, she would be completely out of it from exhaustion. That’s how unhealthy she was. And what’s ironic is that in those recent videos, she seemed the happiest and most stable she’s looked in years, and her staff too, said that only recently (2022) has she started actually getting better and that they actually CRIED after Q&A MV shoot was wrapped up because it was the first time Hyuna didn't faint in YEARS. So no, you don’t have to like Hyuna. That’s fine. But to pile on her and cyberbully her for the millionth time, to say she’s “glowed down” to the point where she makes a post about wanting to diet again - when in reality she’s healthier and happier than she’s ever been - is just cruel. Kpop fans can’t just be normal about idols’ weight. Take Jeongyeon for example, just because people like her, the reaction to her gaining weight is over-the-top hype to the point it feels fake and uncomfortable. There's no balanced reaction with Kpop fans, It’s either that extreme or it’s the complete opposite, where people rip someone apart so viciously that it becomes downright cruel, like what’s happening with Hyuna. And if you think body shaming her somehow makes you morally justified, it just proves your morals were fake to begin with, you don’t have any. You’re not righteous, you’re just a vile person. submitted by /u/Special-Ad6201 [link] [comments]

I know this happened months ago but I'm still thinking about the P1harmony fan sign incident where a girl showed up in a very revealing dress, Now I get the people who are defending her saying she can wear whatever she wants but the way she went up to Theo and asked him to put a collar on her and called her though "his puppy" had to be some form of sexual harassment right? I hate to be that person but if this was a male fan at a girl group fan signed the reactions would have been WAY different submitted by /u/im_army_sti11 [link] [comments]

well, everything's in the title what do you think about spinnin' on it ? not music-wise (absolute banger in my opinion) but the whole ???? sexualization ????? am i tripping ???? i didn't see anyone speak up about this so maybe i am overreacting after all but the whole aesthetic of the mv really irks me submitted by /u/piercingjade [link] [comments]

I've noticed this in the past, but in increasing frequency these days; there is an extreme amount of occult symbolism in kpop. Before you scoff, please hear me out! Analyze choreographies: How many choreographies themselves contain some form of devil horn gestures, triple 6 gestures, "as above so below" baphomet horn gestures, one eye gestures, "illuminati triangle" (Pyramid), Eye of Providence Gestures, and etc. Album covers and photoshoots as well. Not to mention in music videos with fallen angel depictions, forbidden fruit depictions, serpent depictions, mocking Christian faith in their videos, and etc. And before you say these are all coincidences, I can't find myself to agree. This isn't just one or two artists, songs, groups, or companies- it's present in many of such I'm going to be straightforward, I believe the industry is evil and filled with darkness, and that many celebrities have unfortunately became industry puppets to further satan's agenda. It's not hidden- they put it directly in your face. With how satan works is, he is very crafty in his conditioning, and those who will represent him, he uses to further his own desire and corrupt more people. Only when things start to go bad and his evil is unmasked that we realize we've been fooled, and after recieving the destruction of our minds and souls that we realize what we heeded was not the truth, and we need to be saved from the trap we've been caught in Matthew 7:15 (ESV) Jesus (Yeshua) said "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves." Even looking at the lyrics of some songs: they have suggestive meanings, subtle exposures of the system, hints at the compromise these artists have made, and what I feel are even cries for help Boy Meets Evil- Jhope The light of my future is dimming Because of my childish love, I lost my way on a path of dream The venom of my ambition, I sharpened my knife every day But because of my uncontrollable greed, my knife became dull I know it all This love is another name for the devil Don't hold their hand I shouted but I betrayed my own conscience The sharp realities that I feel more and more every day Red blood staining from being torn apart by reality I never thought that That greed would become the horn that calls upon hell Breathe I am getting out of breath At the twisted reality, I close my eyes every night The music box of tragedy echoes But in order to be free from this crime It's impossible to forget it and give up Because those lips were too sweet I threw my future away because I was drunk in love When I woke up, I was already surrounded by land mines Surrounded by people's stares that can't be touched I cry for a miracle in this reality (Rewind) It was crazy good I was an idiot addicted to the sweetness Yeah, an idiot I didn't want to let go of the devil's touch [Refrain: j-hope] Too bad but it's too sweet It's too sweet, it's too sweet Too bad but it's too sweet It's too sweet, it's too sweet Too bad but it's too sweet It's too sweet, it's too sweet Too bad but it's too sweet It's too sweet, it's too sweet Caught in a Lie - Jimin [Chorus: Jimin] Caught in a lie Find the me that was pure I can't be free from this lie Give me back my smile Caught in a lie Pull me from this hell I can't be free from this pain Save me, I am being punished You want me I've lost my way You want me Just like me every day I feel so far away You always come my way It repeats all over again (Ah woo-woo) Get away, away, away from me Get away, away from me (Ah woo-woo) Whoever it may be, save me, me Save me It continues even when I run away I am caught in a lie Exerpts from Crown- TXT Yeonjun]Verse 1: Beomgyu, Soobin, Yeonjun] That is not me who's staring blankly in the mirror (Yah, yah, yah) Dizzy headaches and there's Something on my head (Ah, ah-ah) I wanna run away and disappear far away (Yah, yah, yah) (Save me) Who am I? I don’t know who I am oh My body must have gone crazy There's a horn growing out of my head What do I do? I don't know how to stop it Oh, I'm the only evil thing in this world Save me, maybe I have turned into a monster Got no one but you (Ah, ah-ah Why is the world treating me like this? (Skrr) Suddenly there's a horn on my head now (Woo) Would there be forgiveness? Even for the devils? And then you spread your wings before my eyes There's a horn rising out of my head But I love it You became my crown This fluttering sensation My heart is mayhem But I love it We are finally perfect The two of us, us, In the Morning-Itzy [Post-Chorus: Ryujin & Chaeryeong] Target in the night, you don't even know (Ayy) Hit you like the mafia (Ayy) In the morning light, you don't even know (Ayy) Hit you like the mafia **[Verse 2: Yuna & Ryujin] Oscar worthy, got you fooled Playing innocent, but I'm a wolf (No) You don't have the faintest clue (Aha) I been planning for a while, baby. all systems are go (Brrah) [Pre-Chorus: Chaeryeong & Lia] Am I getting you, getting you just a little confused? You know I never could, never could stick to all of the rules Well it's finally, finally time to make up your mind Hope you're ready, who knows what could happen in the night? Matthew 24 (This entire chapter goes over the second coming of Christ, He warns us to stay awake and prepared for his coming, as He will be like a thief in the night to those who have been lulled to spiritual sleep; see 1 Thessalonians 5. For the second exerpt from the song shown, I'm unsure if that's correlated to this verse, I could totally be reading too deep into it. But it is something that came to mind, as the adversary can lull us to sleep through the media we consume if we aren't already aware of the agenda we should be denying) Mattew 24:43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Strange (RM and Agust D) [Verse 1: Agust D] The world is a giant system In it, either opposition, war, or survival is inserted Life that we can't refuse With dreams as its collateral, the capitalism injects the morphine called 'hope' Wealth breeds wealth and tests greed The rich longs even for poverty In the world there's only black and white, those two In an endless zero-sum game, the very end is worth seeing Polarization is the ugliest flower in the world It's been long since the truth's been eaten away by the lies Who benefits the most? Just who suffers damage the most? [Verse 2: RM] You think you got taste? Oh babe, how do you know? I mean for God's sake Everything's under control The choices you’ve been given Are all preferences controlled by the capital People talk 'My feed explains me' No matter how much money is in your grasp Everyone's a slave to this system The dog necklace and dog house you are so busy bragging about All day, fighting over whose glimmer more Now even you won't know Oh baby, what's your name? Polarization, the flower that's already bloomed A round nail that has been hammered into a square hole Even so, I roll on, somehow, like this In each of their chicken coops, everyone claims they are fine I say all this to emphasize: Be watchful. Most mainstream media pushed toward us is for the purpose to program us to turn us away from God and Christ, and to worship satan and ourselves. There are promises of freedom, when it's disciples themselves are trapped in a life they want freedom from Yeshua Messiah is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6) and the only authority given under heaven by which we are saved (Acts 4:12) For years I obsessed over kpop. I was convinced my favs saved me from my depression, I was glorifying people (why are we calling people "idols"? ) to an ungodly extent. The Lord opened my eyes in a way only He could, in the middle of my obsession. I'm not saying hate kpop, but hate the system that takes, exploits, and abuses others with artistic passion, and then uses them to lure others in to the same deception. I'm not saying hate Korean celebrities- we all need saving and are all prone to be lured into evil when we crave the fulfiment of certain desires. These people should be prayed for, and the darkness of the system they're bondage to, prayed against. Your fulfillment shouldn't come from parasocial relationships, nor from fame, nor possessions, and it won't even if we try. We were Created to be in relationship with the Most High, who gave His Own Son to to reconcile us to himself (1 Corinthians 5:21), and to give us peace life that is truly life. I always wondered how relevant popular kpop idols are in the west, or the general public there. We always gosh about like lisa is getting brand deals here— she has millions of followers, Jungkook is the it boy, V is a global icon but like do a normal person know them outside the kpop bubble? I started wondering this when met gala came around and some people were reviewing the attendees outfits. I noticed how even if they were to make several parts to their review, they tend to go over or ignore kpop stars. So it made me think if we are just blinded by their influence over the kpop dome. If you were to compare these stars popularity to western pop artists, in terms of popularity, who do they resemble? submitted by /u/Snoo62767 [link] [comments]
