SM is literally what everyone accuses Hybe of being. I genuinely believe this Hybe-hatred is just BTS resentment rebranded, prove me wrong?

Ever since the MHJ/Nwjns thing reddit and kpop twitter have decided HYBE is the root of all evil. Chart manipulation, media play, mistreatment, obsession with other companies, controlling narratives, etc. But if you actually look at whats come out SM has literally been exposed for doing exactly the things people accuse HYBE of. Media manipulation: SM literally hired a PR firm to create fake online narratives during their feud with HYBE. They made viral posts, spread anti HYBE talking points and had articles talking bad about HYBE groups, (not just the company) and tried to frame HYBE as ruining groups after takeovers. This is documented. Undermining other groups: Nate from American Hustle Life said he was told not to work with BTS because they were just a “filler” group and to focus on EXO instead presumably by SMs side. That’s the level of arrogance they had even back then. This was 2014. Obsessed with other companies energy: People love to say HYBE is obsessed with SM groups but SM literally created SuperM with the whole “the Avengers of Kpop” concept just to compete with BTS internationally and knock them down. Like they built an entire supergroup specifically to challenge BTS' success. Mistreatment of their idols: I mean, do I really have to elaborate this one? Also the whole 'stanning HYBE the company' thing but SM literally has a company fandom name: PinkBloods. They literally branded and marketed corporate stanning. Wheres the talk about that? Make it make sense. Then theres this whole “every K-pop subreddit is run by HYBE stans” narrative. If you want to see a real case of company stans running a subreddit go check out noir. That place is basically SMs PR department. If you stan a HYBE or YG group dont even bother joining. youll be treated like youre working hand in hand with Netanyahu for liking BTS or Blackpink. Meanwhile SM groups get away with murder there. Thats an actual example of a subreddit run by corporate stans. And people love to claim uncensored is full of HYBE stans but come on. Every negative and positive post about basically anything gets deleted there. if you look back at posts like Sugas scooter incident, or LSFs vocals controversy it wasnt “HYBE stans” driving those hate trains. It was, as usual, SM group fans front and center. I was literally there when the reporting wars started. It began with Bunnies mass reporting every negative post about Min Hee Jin and NewJeans and every positive post about LSF or ILLIT. I watched the sub shift in real time. So yeah maybe its run by fans of a HYBE group now but ironically the ones who pretend they arent. At the end of the day everything people accuse HYBE of, SM has actually done. Yet somehow HYBE gets treated like its uniquely evil and I genuinely dont think its because of HYBE itself. The intensity of the hate just doesnt make sense otherwise. Its not normal for a company and their artists to get this much emotional reaction unless theres something deeper behind it. And if were being real that “something deeper” is probably BTS. HYBE exists at this scale because BTS built it from nothing and for a lot of people thats still hard to swallow. It flipped the whole Kpop hierarchy that the Big 3 had defined for decades. Suddenly the “underdogs” became the standard. So now every frustration people used to feel about BTS, the overexposure, the awards, the western success, the cultural shift etc. gets projected onto HYBE and its other groups. Its easier to say “HYBE ruined Kpop” than to admit the landscape changed because BTS did what no one thought possible. Thats why the rage feels so personal. Its not really about HYBEs business moves or even their artists. Its about what BTS represents. But I am open to having my mind changed if you feel there is a different reason. submitted by /u/thebarted [link] [comments]

Im literally obsessed. I’m watching the music video like 5-10 times a day at random points and I have never done this for any other song. It just keeps popping into my mind and I need to see it again. The vocals are so complex and beautiful, the plotline and visuals in the music video are so captivating, and the concept behind the song is a fresh take on toxic relationships. My favorite part is this frame in the music video with kyujin’s amazing vocals ‘every day, every night, we on and on’ in the background… chef’s kiss. I hope nmixx gets the recognition they deserve because this is such a strong single from the album. Please remove any prejudices you have against nmixx for their debut and watch it 🙏 it is incredible submitted by /u/ExternalAlarming2052 [link] [comments]

You make a post praising a group? MASS-REPORT UNTIL THE POST GETS TAKEN DOWN! You express your opinions? Apparently not allowed here. (only reasonable if its hate) You make a post about any idol or group? Hate comments are 99% guaranteed. Try making a post about ILLIT/LSF/NJZ?? People will find a way to make it about the drama. You make posts praising a group (#2)? People will tell you that you are on the wrong sub and to post on the groups' individual subs (THIS IS A KPOP-BASED SUB!!) submitted by /u/Ilovehuskies1111 [link] [comments]

13. To People Who Witnessed It, How Did Cha Eunwoo Get So Popular*?

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

* yes, I know he's handsome but there are tons of handsome people from mid-level companies and they didn't get anywhere near Eunwoo's straddle on popularity in S.Korea (and abroad). I'm intrigued on what measures his company took, the timing of it all and any other factors. I first got to know about Eunwoo bc of a drama he was in (I watched it in 2020). He was pretty okay as a lead, not mind-blowing; his chemistry with the other main leads helped. When looking at his profile, I noticed that he was in a group who I only had vaguely seen popping up in my recommended. That's how I found Astro (After Midnight is one of the best light/fun boy group songs btw) and I ended up discovering their discography. I remember seeing the "Eunwoo and Friends" allegations, but I didn't really see it fully bc of me not paying attention to non-music Astro stuff. Yes, Eunwoo is incredibly popular but that doesn't take away the members' talents ofc. MJ is an insanely competent vocalist, Jinjin and Rocky are very proficient song-writers and rappers, and Sanha & Moonbin are incredible performers (RIP, Moonbin). In general, there will always be a most and least popular member anyways, but I do get the impression that the gap is somewhat big in Eunwoo's case. Personally, I do think he's worked hard to become better at areas he lacked at in the beginning of his career. It seems like he understands the "idol" life well, since he navigates it well enough to have millions of dedicated fans who are willing to pay for most of what he endorses. He also must be a steady worker if he can consistently get jobs outside of being an idol. Anyways, check out Astro's stuff if you haven't! I'll be happy to give any recs in the comments if anyone asks for them :). Also, please no hate to Eunwoo or any of the members! submitted by /u/angie_kiprevski [link] [comments]

15. All the “Cortis is unoriginal” takes

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I dont know why people are so pressed that others have called Cortis’s sound fresh or new. And complaining that it’s just rehashed Playboy Carti sounding songs. “Fresh” and “New” were the same descriptions for Newjeans when they first came out. As if Newjeans songs weren’t just reheated PinkPantheress songs(I like both newjeans and pinkpantheress songs. And in MY opinion the more the better, so I dont get fans who moan about similar sounding songs, I just take it as a win for more songs I like). From what I can remember at the start of Newjean’s career there weren’t that many people calling them “unoriginal” or “bootleg pinkpantheress”. At least not as many as people calling Cortis “unoriginal”. I think it’s unfair that Cortis is being judged wayyy more harshly than Newjeans for practically doing almost the same thing. Drawing heavily from a genre and repackaging it into kpop. It feels like a double standard. Like if you are going to criticize Cortis then why dont you hold other groups to the same standard. At the end of the day both groups were clearly inspired by already existing styles/genre that BOTH were pioneered by black artists(uk garage & trap). Just doesn’t make sense to complain about Cortis but it was silent when it came to Newjeans. This isnt to drag Newjeans, it’s just to point out the hypocrisy in kpop fans. submitted by /u/yuLia_yaj [link] [comments]

17. So when are we gonna address the "noona" pdfs?

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I start this with saying I'm not someone who's much into Cortis or esp Hybe groups. The most I've listened to is Illit and Lsf purely maybe cause of music (I love Yunah so yeah there's that) and saw Cortis on kpop subs here and their songs on instagram. I just know this group is full of minors. And seeing this fancall on instagram made my blood boil. With the breath infused roomspray Katseye collab to NWJNS Cookie, to now directly targeting this group to Noonas? And it's not even in a fun casual way, these young kids are saying stuff like this on camera and maybe are forced to put forth this "noona" loving image. Martin (ig he's the leader, idk the members) openly is flirting with women double his age and the comments of such vids are filled with middle aged women admiring his flirting skills, EW. If this same situation was happening with Illit or NewJeans, we'd be alarmed by the ped0philia, but since it's a boy group, we don't care? I'm in my early 20s and I'm baffled that Hybe is escaping so much direct ped0 and creep marketing going on recently with Katseye and now Cortis. Idk if it seems like I'm rambling but it's astonishing to me how much pedophilia from women is brushed under the carpet and how we don't hold companies accountable for CHOOSING this noona fetishizing marketing when they could go into many other ways. Infact ig a member was surprised to know that the fan is 15yos on the fancall cause atp they're probably used to noona pedos making them say the weirdest shit and them forced to act accordingly. These boys deserve better. submitted by /u/No_Olive_229 [link] [comments]

21. What Do You Think About CORTIS Being Called a 6th-Gen 'Zalpha Generation' Group?

  • 5 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

It’s fascinating that South Korean media are already labeling them as a 6th-generation K-pop group, aligning them as leaders of the Zalpha generation...a bold fusion of Gen Z and Gen Alpha. Also, it looks like HYBE is trying to distinguish between its 5th and 6th-gen acts. But are we truly in the 6th-gen era yet? When we look back at 2025, will rookie groups like H2H, CORTIS, ADP, and KiiiKiii be remembered as the defining faces of the 6th-gen Zalpha generation? submitted by /u/IceMysterious3057 [link] [comments]

22. New EU GOM here – Any tips on growing visibility? Also looking to connect with other small trading/selling accounts

  • reddit.com language

Hi everyone! I recently started a K-pop trade/sell Instagram account under the name @kersiskpoptrades — I’m based in Austria 🇦🇹 - Europe and mainly focus on ATEEZ and ENHYPEN, but open to more in the future. I’d love to eventually host group orders for upcoming comebacks, especially for EU fans looking to save on shipping! Right now, I have a few items listed (albums, POBs, special inclusions) and I’ve uploaded proofs from Vinted/local platforms, used hashtags, posted consistently — but I’m struggling with visibility. 🥲 It feels like no one is seeing my posts. Are there any other small GOMs or trading/selling accounts here who’d be open to supporting each other? (e.g. shoutouts, follow-for-follow, sharing each other’s posts/stories, or even just connecting!) Also — if you have any tips on growing as a GOM or building trust and engagement, I’d genuinely appreciate the advice 💗 Thank you so much for reading and best of luck to everyone running a small K-pop account! 🌸 Let’s support each other 💪✨ submitted by /u/kersiinkorea [link] [comments]
