Hello everyone! We are excited to take a trip back in time to revisit some K-Pop classics once again, continuing with this rate, the "Early Gen 3" Girl Groups Rate! (If you haven't already, make sure to join r/kpoprates to ensure that you stay updated on future rate-related posts!) Quick Links: Ballot submission: Link to Reddit Chat to message a ballot // Ballot template (Google Docs ver.) // Ballot template (Pastebin) Playlists: Spotify // Youtube (Audio ver.) // Youtube (Lyrics ver.) // Youtube (MV ver.) Deadline: July 7th (Monday), 11:59 Pacific (Link to a timezone converter) How the songs were selected: We used the /r/kpop Top Ten Tuesdays results to grab the most adored songs from each of the artists on Reddit, and we also had a songlist feedback survey on /r/kpoprates to help decide the songlist! Now, without further ado, let's introduce the 55 songs (& 7 bonus songs) that were selected for this rate, ordered chronologically for each artist (artists were also ordered by debut date): . Spica: Russian Roulette You Donât Love Me EXID: Every Night Up & Down Ah Yeah Hot Pink Night Rather Than Day DDD I Love You HelloVenus: Wiggle Wiggle Iâm ill Mysterious Crayon Pop: Bar Bar Bar AOA: Miniskirt Short Hair Like a Cat Heart Attack Good Luck 10 Seconds Excuse Me FIESTAR: One More Youâre Pitiful Ladiesâ Code: Pretty Pretty Galaxy The Rain BESTie: Love Options Excuse me Mamamoo: Piano Man Youâre the Best DĂ©calcomanie Starry Night Egotistic Wind Flower Gogobebe HIP Laboum: Journey to Atlantis Hwi Hwi Lovelyz: Ah-Choo Destiny WoW! Now, We That Day Sonamoo: Friday Night GFriend: Me Gustas Tu Rough Navillera Fingertip Time For The Moon Night Apple Mago Brave Girls: Deepened Rollinâ We Ride Chi Mat Ba Ram After We Ride . Bonus Rate: The bonus rate is basically an extension of the main rate! There were several songs that received high praise during the songlist feedback survey that still were barely not able to make the main rate, so we have put them into the bonus rate here to give them a chance to be rated. . EXID - Lady HelloVenus - Venus Crayon Pop - FM Fiestar - Mirror Ladiesâ Code - Bad Girl Laboum - Between Us GFriend - Labyrinth . The Bonus Rate is optional and you do not have to submit a score for every song in the bonus list if you do it: you can score none of them, all of them, or any number in between. You cannot give a 0 or 11 to any song in the bonus, as they are not part of the main rate. While it is optional, we hope you consider participating. Spotify playlist YouTube playlist (MV version) YouTube playlist (Audio version) YouTube playlist (Lyrics version) Rules: You must listen to and assign a score to EVERY song listed. If your ballot is missing any scores it will not be eligible and you'll be sent a message asking you to fill in the missing scores. Each song should be assigned a score between 1 to 10. Decimals up to one point are allowed but any further is a no-no â 6.9 is fine, but 6.99 is not. You can use ONE 0 and ONE 11 for the entirety of the rate, for your least favorite and most favorite song respectively - they are optional but HIGHLY encouraged if you feel some type of way about any given song! Comments are also encouraged but not required for such scores (except if you give a song a 0). Comments are encouraged and much appreciated (but not required, except for if you give a 0) and can be added to any song by simply typing after the numerical score, like so: Hip: 2.4 Ofc the title track that utilizes Mamamoo's vocal power the least ends up becoming the most popular (yells angrily at cloud) This is the ONLY correct way to format a comment. Please do not include colons (ex. 9: I stan!), dashes (ex. 3.3 - This song sucks), or any other symbol after your score/before your comment as it breaks the program. You can also give comments for individual artists! Just write your comment after the :, such as the following: EXID: Are they pronounced like "exit" or are you supposed to say every letter separately? I'll never know For this rate and most future rates, we have a ballot average minimum of 4.00. In addition, if your ballot average is between 4.00-5.50, you must leave comments on your lower scores (which we define as any score that's a 3 or lower). {Do not worry about having to calculate your ballot average, once you submit your ballot, we will tell you if you need to make changes to your ballot for it to be accepted.} SUBMITTING A BALLOT: * Link to Reddit Chat to message a ballot As Reddit is (unfortunately) moving away from the private messaging system in favor of utilizing the Reddit chat system, we are forced to also adopt the Reddit chat system for messaging. You can make a copy of either the Google Docs or Pastebin ballot templates below, add your scores on your local copy/file, and send the link to your local copy/file in your Reddit Chat message to u/KpopRates_Ghost. * Google Docs ballot template * Pastebin ballot template Google spreadsheet template that you can use to calculate averages, record scores, and make predictions Alternatively, if you have Discord, you can message the link to your ballot to both the rate hosts, @Zypker124 and @aidshha. You can also submit the top/bottom 5 prediction form at any time. DUE DATE: Monday, July 7th, by 11:59 PM Pacific - This will be the FINAL deadline, no extensions will be given this time! Articles / Timeline 250422 This day marks one year since HYBE launched their audit of Min Hee Jin and ADOR's management. Happy(?) 1st anniversary of the Megathreads! 250502 The 3rd hearing for Min Hee Jin vs. Belift Lab was set to take place but postponed to July 18th at Belift Lab's request. Each side is due to present their arguments/documents regarding plagiarism issues at the next meeting. (Source: Maeil Kyungjae) 250530 We learned that ADOR had filed for 'indirect enforcement' after their injunction was granted and NewJeans performed at ComplexCon back in March (Filed on April 4th according to the statement from NewJeans' representatives linked below). On the 30th, the 52nd Division of the Seoul Central District court further granted this request. The 'indirect enforcement' ruling means that each individual member of NewJeans will be fined 1 billion won (approx. $725,000) if they continue with entertainment activities independent of ADOR, which would be in violation of the injunction. This enforcement with potential fines does NOT apply to any of NewJeans' independent activities between the granting of the injunction and the granting of this 'indirect enforcement'. These fines will only apply to future activities going forward, or at least until rulings with NewJeans' appeal or the main contract validity case changes anything (next hearing on June 5th). (Source: Chosun Biz, MK Sports) The Korea Herald: Court orders NewJeans to pay Ador 1 billion won for each unauthorized activity Discussion Post Korea JoongAng Daily: Court orders NewJeans members to pay ADOR $725,600 for every independent entertainment activity A statement by NewJeans' representatives was made later in the day primarily acknowledging the indirect enforcement ruling, but reiterating that it is temporary and will no longer have an effect if NewJeans win their appeal of the injunction. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. (Sources: X Sport News, Maeil Kyungjae) 250612 The next hearing regarding the Shareholder Agreement termination and exercising put/call options lawsuits between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held at the Seoul Central District Court's 31st Division. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. (Sources: Maeil Kyungjae, TV Daily, Sports Today) 250617 Following up from April 16th when NewJeans appealed the court's decision to uphold the injunction and halt on their independent activities, the Seoul High Court reaffirmed the earlier decision. The court rejected NewJeans' appeal. They determined there was no significant change in the material/arguments presented for the appeal and the original decision to grant ADOR's injunction was justified. There was further clarification that the management conflict between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, and her no longer being NewJeans' producer, did not constitute a valid argument for the alleged collapse of trust between ADOR and NewJeans. The group's withdrawal from ADOR is considered arbitrary, that their artistic freedom or activity is not impeded since they are able to do so within their exclusive contract, and that any damages resulting from attempting independent activities are self-inflicted. I've always thought that dragging an idol for their weight was odd - but whenever I see someone use the nickname 'pigmin' to describe Jimin I feel disgusted. Growing up, I binge-ate and struggled with bodily issues, and coming from someone who has struggled: using that nickname on someone who especially has recovered from an eating disorder is disgusting, low and gross. What's worse, is people do this with intent - it's not like they don't know the meaning behind the nickname, they're fully aware and that's why they use it. I've seen 'Pigmin' used on Jimin quite a few times and I'm just like... what the hell do you think stooping that low to use someone's struggles against them? Calling anybody that is low, mixing it with the name of someone who struggles with bodily issues and has recovered from eating problems is in hell. Truly. I hope Jimin, wherever he is, and anyone struggling with bodily issues knows they're beautiful. The journey to acceptance is long and difficult, but holy shit it's worth it. submitted by /u/Calm-Comfortable2659 [link] [comments]

Yesterday, a big rally calling out the government for failed or ghost projects with trillion budget was held in the Philippines. Sophia and Marcus are consistent on expressing their stand for good governance as Filipinos since 2022. The news about the corruption in the Philippines has reached international media. I remember I was watching KBS, my jaw dropped when I saw the ghost projects of Ph government officials on KBS news. And then their goes these corrupt government officials, contractors, and the their unbothered nepo babies flexing luxury here and there. submitted by /u/Conscious-Cap-7250 [link] [comments]
Iâm back again covering KCON LA as the press representative of r/kpop. Sorry for the delay in posting as I had to take care of IRL stuff the past few weeks. I last wrote a Fan Account in 2023. Red Carpet Photos Official Convention Photos Official Concert Photos My Photos Convention: I liked that they used the West Hall of the convention center since it is next to the Crypto Center for the main concert and also closer to the hotels on that side. Every time they use the South Hall as the main venue, you have to get to the crosswalk and then circle around the security barriers, making a âwalk across the streetâ five times longer than it looks. As usual, the line for badge pickup was long for the first few hours of each day. Since it was located after the front security/bag check, entry really quick if you already have a badge. This year had no panels as they wanted to focus on the five convention stages that were going on throughout the day. Personally, I liked watching industry panels in the past as they usually talk about behind the scenes things and give a different perspective. Idol groups also appeared on panels in the past, making for a unique and intimate fan meeting. Artists stage - One of my favorite additions that started last year. It is pretty much a mini concert in which the artist performs 5-6 songs. While it was a long walk to the South Convention hall, the concourse walkway was open so you didn't have to go outside. Sadly, this year you also had to pay extra for entry, in addition to the convention cost. There also was a VIP tier for the front section. X Stage (2)- Performances and some games inside the convention. Meet & Greet Stage - Iâve never been to this, but have been told that the âHi waveâ goes by so fast, and might not be worth the price. Especially if you were hoping for a âhi touchâ or moment to say something like a fan sign. The Red Carpet was also located here. Dance Stage - Fan dancing events. I love watching the RPD (random play dance) events, but I was too busy running around and only caught a little of it. Busking stage - outdoor stage. Some of the rookie/lesser known groups appeared here for a short segment. It was quite easy to get to the front and see the performers up close. There was a shade overhead, but it was still quite hot outside. Looking at the combined schedule of the five stages, there was always a lot going on. I had to specifically plan a route each day to maximize photo opportunities. I really liked those mini posters they had everywhere and would have been a great thing to give away. They used that really strong 3M poster tape, so trying to remove them would destroy the poster. Of course, people were trying to take them home by the end of Sunday, and the ones in the main entrance area were torn up from people trying to grab them. Convention booths were spaced out very well this year, making for huge walkways to get by. Of course, groups visiting booths (2) can always cause a traffic jam. Located outside were a few marketplace stores as well as some food trucks. Some groups had official booths to sell merch. Sadly, the Starship booth only featured their 4 attending groups. Nothing of WJSN or KiiiKiii, not even on a poster of all the group logos. Overall, I wish I had more time to walk around the convention floor and actually visit the booths. I never have time to grab freebies due to the long lines and since I'm busy with press stuff. M!Countdown Lineup - Pre-show This year featured 37 different K-pop acts, which is probably the most of any KCON LA. The pre-show performances started around 7:30. I did like that they actually revealed the pre-show lineup this year instead of having us guess who was going to be there. The Friday night concert started with Lee Byung Hun opening with an appearance as Gwi Ma from K-Pop demon hunters. (Funny enough, Twice was at Lollapalooza this same weekend and had a drone show that ended with âThe Honmoon is sealedâ ⊠so the US did a speedrun of sealing the Honmoon within a weekend.) With the explosive popularity of K-Pop Demon Hunters, IZNAâs Jeemin, Koko, and Jungeun performance of âGoldenâ was met with a lot of cheers. Yuqi and Zhang Hao performance of âNowâ (orig. Troublemaker) also caused a massive buzz online as duet stages are still a rare sight in K-Pop. With the large amount of performers this year, most only had time for perform 2-3 songs. The set lists for Day 1 and 3 were found online. I do like the recent change of having a really popular artist perform an opening song to hype up the crowd at the start. I think for logistical reasons, they moved the Dream Stage to the last song of every night. Personally, I would prefer the headliner artist to have a grand finale and perform their biggest hits to end the show. Official Recap Video The KCON Official YouTube has concert previews, full vods of the showcase stages, and some behind the scenes clips. Tips for attending KCON LA The side with sections 106 & 107 is the âfront.â Artists will usually perform their latest song and special stages facing that way. Prices - If you want to take a deeper dive into the ticket costs, I found this video by Everybodyâs Noona explains it pretty well. About a week or so before the event, they stopped selling convention passes online. I think they sold more at the event because of course they would want as many people as possible to attend the convention. Did anyone buy convention passes there? Get there early if you can. The line to get your convention badge in the morning will be long. If a group you like is performing at the artist stage, I think it is worth it to pay extra for the front section to see them up close. Depending on the groupâs popularity, you can get up to the barricade with just an hour of waiting. They donât clear out the room after each group, so people can get there extremely early to get a good spot. If you are planning to visit sponsor booths and gather as many freebies as possible, one of the things they usually make you do is to make a social media post on your personal Instagram or X(Twitter). If you are not comfortable posting things like that on your main account you could create an alternate account in advance. If you want to buy albums or other artist merchandise, the vendors in the convention usually have marked up prices. I would recommend going to Koreatown and shop at the music stores there. If you have any questions about the event, feel free to ask. Special thanks to KCON for inviting us to cover the event. submitted by /u/LineArk_ [link] [comments]
We all know that you guys don't fking care of all the country that is facing war crimes, civil war and many more. Ohh wait you guys do care only when you want to drag other artists for exercising their freedom. Do k-pop stans think them holding their artist accountable some how will help people in Gaza, Sudan, Afghanistan, Indonesia and many more? You guys just don't want to feel guilt and project it into k-pop idols. You want to feel " I am doing something " . You want to feel superior. You know what I have learnt from past few days when I was so scared for my country when more than 70+ people died, your sympathy doesn't help one bit, it doesn't bring the death back. The world of powerful will always do what they want. They don't care what is normal citizen have to go through everyday. We and idols are normal people, do you think the world is black and white. Do you think an idol who just sings as a job can somehow affect this situation? đđđ You guys are fking funny. No idols can be a superman. Blaming and dragging idol when many powerful country with actual power are not able speak against isreal. If you guys are really into activism and want to help world, the only was is to be powerful politicians but I don't see that happening because you guys are busy fighting over how to hold idols accountable for war-crime. Know your politics and politicians. submitted by /u/Tell_a-Tale [link] [comments]

Before I get into, I'd like to mention that I'm very into collecting and cherishing physical media. I have a cd-player and about 12 cd's at home, both old and new. I have 2 kpop albums, the chaos chapter freefall and the star chapter together. I have to say, listening to an album from beginning to end with a CD you can actually hold is such an underrated experience. I really do consider kpop albums to be art, they're on another level with amazing inclusions. My favorite examples are Aespa's album that comes with its own cd player and Yeonjuns GGUM packaging. You can clearly tell that staffs put so much effort in them. Thats why I get really bummed out when I see unbought albums ripped open for the photocards, stacks of brand new albums out on the street for the sake of "achievements" and getting into fancalls. These albums are not cherished properly and are bad for the environment as well. The kpop industry is responsible for making album sales such a big deal, but so are kpop stans for prioritizing photocards above everything else. I can't be the only one who thinks this way, right? submitted by /u/Confident_Adagio9893 [link] [comments]
Maybe itâs just me, but I found it really suspicious how NewJeans and aespa suddenly got all âcloseâ right at the peak of the HYBE vs Min Hee-jin drama. Before that, there were barely any interactions between the two groups, and then out of nowhere theyâre taking pictures together, praising each other in interviews, and sharing moments at award shows. Not trying to push conspiracy theories, but letâs be real: moves like this in K-pop are rarely innocent. Companies use idolsâ images as chess pieces, and this sudden bond feels way more like a strategic move than something natural. Almost like SM and ADOR were sending indirect messages in the middle of this whole narrative war. And itâs funny how some fans sell it as âgenuine friendship between the girlsâ when, realistically, it couldâve just been a calculated PR move. Obviously itâs not the idolsâ fault â they just go along with what the companies plan â but I canât help thinking the timing was way too convenient. submitted by /u/Sensitive-Wing1066 [link] [comments]
I always wonder about this: why do stans hate HYBE so much? From the outside, itâs not really that different from any other big K-pop company. All of them have histories of exploitation, strict control, and shady decisions⊠so I donât understand why all the disproportionate hate seems to go directly to HYBE. What I notice is that this narrative mainly comes from Big 3 (SM, YG, JYP) fans. During all that HYBE drama last year, I saw tons of tweets praising the Big 3 like they were saints, while dragging HYBE and its groups, almost like it was some status war. But if you look closer, the Big 3 also have long histories of scandals, mistreatment, and practices just as bad â if not worse. It feels like, deep down, itâs more about fandom rivalry and company hierarchy than actual critique. HYBE grew too fast, challenged the old system, and that bothered people who were used to the Big 3 monopoly. So now, hating HYBE has become a way to âdefend traditionâ in the industry. At the end of the day, none of these companies are innocent, but the way HYBE gets singled out feels really selective to me. Does anyone else notice this double standard, or do you think HYBE is actually worse than the others in some way? submitted by /u/Sensitive-Wing1066 [link] [comments]
Letâs Build a Multinational Girl Group! Day 2 - The Philippines Letâs Build a Multinational Girl Group! Letâs build a girl group with each member representing a different Asian country! Here are the rules: 1) Comment only 1 girl per country along with a picture. 2) They DO NOT have to be from a K-Pop group specifically, but they do have to be from a girl group! 3) Bi-racial idols are allowed, however, if they win for one category, they are ineligible for another. 4) Votes will be calculated after 24 hours. Sophia of KATSETE is our Filipina representative!! Next up, mainland China! I made the decision to keep mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan all completely separate simply because of the amount of idols from those places. South Korea: Jihyo (TWICE) The Philippines: Sophia (KATSEYE) Once we complete this chart, weâll do the same with a bit group! submitted by /u/sailormusic [link] [comments]
Iâve been thinking about this for a while and wanted to know if anyone else feels the same: groups like hearts2hearts, meovv, and kiiikiii have good concepts, decent songs, and polished visuals⊠but it feels like something is missing that stops them from really standing out. Itâs like theyâve got the nice packaging, but they canât quite create that impact that grabs the publicâs attention. Itâs not that theyâre bad, but it seems like theyâre lacking some kind of âX factorâ â whether itâs stronger charisma, a clearer musical identity, or just a more distinct angle in the scene. With so many groups debuting nowadays, just having good songs and concepts isnât enough. You need to build a narrative, create a real connection with the audience, and offer something nobody else is offering. And with these groups, it always feels like theyâre almost there⊠but never quite hitting the mark. Does anyone else feel this way? Or do you think itâs just a matter of time before they find their identity and really break through? submitted by /u/Sensitive-Wing1066 [link] [comments]
