The increasing numbers of already debuted idols in new survival shows

I just watched a video about Boys II Planet's contestants and I'm shocked at the number of already debuted idols in the trainee lineup. It has been happening for a while though. If you look at the contestants lists on a bunch of survival shows from the last few years, you'll see a lot of already debuted idols. You'll even see survival show "regulars", like Hangyul now in Polarix who had been in Produce X 101 and The Unit. Or some of the Cherry Bullet members. With the way companies keep sending their idols to these shows, it increases the chances of the final line-up having experienced idols in them. Future survival show groups might end up with more idols than trainees. On one hand, it's sad to see because these groups are trying to get more visibility through these shows. On the other hand, it makes things harder for the trainees who don't have experience in the industry, and are competing with what are essentially industry veterans. It must be upsetting too for the idols and the fans, as instead of companies promoting their groups, they'll send members to all these survival shows. It also means that the debuted idols have a fanbase that will be ready to vote for them. Making it harder for the trainees unknown to the public. It's starting to feel like a symptom of the oversaturated nature of the industry. With so many groups debuting, it's nearly impossible for all of them to get attention. So companies will send their idols in the hopes of getting more attention. But it creates a vicious cycle. With some companies continuously sending their idols hoping they'll get more popular, but not capitalising on the popularity gained from the show, which then results in them sending their idols to another one. It might be happening more often as we already see a good amount of groups going to these shows. submitted by /u/Moonbunny120 [link] [comments]

947. I miss my “baby army” days before knowing everything

So I begin being a fan of BTS since late 2023 and since then I became obsessed with them. Listening to their songs everyday and Watching all their MV and their shows like Run BTS and BV it was really good time I really enjoyed discovering them and was very excited for their reunion. They were considered my new comfort zone and it was the happiest and most chilling time watching their interviews and content and I was so to listen to other kpop groups. Until I read about the massive hate campaign they were facing in 2016 like the “breaking wing project” and the “dead silent treatment” at award shows and th “plagiarism allegations” since then I’m not the same person again. Thinking about what they were dealing with everyday that time at such young age is really breaking me. I got invested so much in reading about this nasty smear campaign they were facing is making me not comfortable about seeing their content anymore especially Run BTS the old episodes thinking about how these young funny boys were struggling behind the scenes from whatever they were facing and of course it was stressing them out. And also thinking Armys that days and how they were trying to fight everyday all this hate And reading about how these hate campaigns might be supported by kmedia and companies It made me think about how people can be so evil and hateful just because they don’t like a group. I hate how kpop fans now are minimizing what they were doing that time trying to pass it as “it was just fanwars” “Army were toxic too” “It didn’t effect them” (it did tho) or the “let’s bring back these days” and ect. Since then I really miss my baby army days when I was just enjoying and loving them before knowing about all this things I genuinely lost interest in kpop and I can’t return back to being the same again. submitted by /u/misslolita92 [link] [comments]

949. Kpop songs that that were ruined because of the lyrics or subject matter?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I'm talking about songs that sound great otherwise and you would be inclined to love, but you just can't get past the lyrics or subject matter. Maybe you think the topic is dumb, the lyrics nonsensical, or the sentiment is weird. Whatever the reason, it's a crying shame cuz otherwise, the song is amazing. So, Jopping just shuffled up for me. Sigh. The music and production on that song is insane and the members sound incredible. I mean, the amount of talent on that track is enormous. But wtf coked up the word "jopping" and decided to, not only try to make it a thing, but gambled the whole SuperM project on people not thinking it was the stupidest word in the world? I absolutely hated it upon release. But when I was finally able to get past those lyrics (literally years later), I realized that I kinda think it's a banger lol. Any songs like that for you? submitted by /u/ForeverNugu [link] [comments]

951. If you could have dinner with any idol, who would it be?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

For the male idols, currently stuck between RIIZE's Sungchan and Enhypen's Sunghoon. Yes they are both VERY handsome, but they seem so chill that I am just so curious what a conversation with them would be like. For the female idols, NMIXX's Sullyoon or IDLE's Soyeon. Sullyon because she seems so soft spoken that I just want to get to know her more. Soyeon because she's so outspoken that I just know she has great stories about being producing, being a woman in the field and just being an idol in general. submitted by /u/NMIXXLUVR [link] [comments]

955. why do kpop stans prefer noise music over a good ballad?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This is a bit hard to explain but hype music isn’t ”better” than slow pace music, like ballads. I hear kpop stans saying hype music like noise music is better a good and well produced ballad. It could be a trash noise music song vs a well made ballad and they would probably pick the trash noise music. And this applies to Kpop music. I know it’s up to preference but be fr it could be the best ballad ever but the trash noise music would probably win if it would be song vs song View Poll submitted by /u/shuadeonu [link] [comments]

959. What is the most muscular/gym addict Kpop Boy Band?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I guess it needs to be over 3 years with at least 3 members minimum. Cause below that, they could still be children/teenagers in school, which would impact their their schedule. I would like to say Seventeen, but I think Seungkwan only recently developed his body and Jeonghan is kinda fit but not super muscular like Woozi, Scoups, Dino, and Mingyu. Monsta X have to be the most by percentage which is 100% as you cannot be in a group Shownu and be skinny. submitted by /u/BeautyEtBeastiality [link] [comments]

961. Examples of KPop artists playing Fromsoft games (e.g. Elden Ring Nightreign) or possibly Nintendo Switch 2?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I've watched Le Sserafim play OW2 and DC play PUGB, which was awesome. I'm curious if there are any streams or videos around where artists play any Fromsoft games like Dark Souls, Elden Ring, or even Nightreign that just came out. Also with the Switch 2 just releasing, I wonder if any artists have played on line or during a live. Has anyone noticed any examples? submitted by /u/M_Prodigy [link] [comments]

962. Female idols with very loyal, long lasting solo fanbases?

  • 1 week ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

This is not about size really. What the question says. For example Sakura Lsf - she has such a loyal fanbase for so long, they love her and support everything she does. I don't think I have seen them ever protesting or whining about anything? Taeyeon- She's been active 15+ years, the fanbase is very loyal I say, strongest among 2nd gen maybe? Which other comparitively older gen idols? I feel like Karina is going there, but idk. Wonyoung I believe is more like Suzy, she has a lot of gp recognition, are her general stans long lasting, I might be wrong because I do see her stans from izone days but it's too early to say. submitted by /u/whatdoidobrooooo [link] [comments]
