┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great week. My first week back from Vacation was a good one, as the artists delivered some excellent tunes that kept popping up on my playlist like crazy. It didn’t take me long to find my favorite release of the week, which I’m excited to share with you all. Later in the month, I will be sharing what took over my summer, so look out for that. Now let’s jump into the music and see what the artist delivered. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ https://preview.redd.it/vqjj6u9r4djf1.jpg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54553636eef4b94bd1c3fcc2fc593ff5ccab65ee Best of the Week: August 10th 시작의 아이 ❍ - Park Da Hye & Maktub Maktub teams up with Park Da Hye for a new version of one of his tracks, one that I’ve been listening to like crazy. The vocals from Park Da Hye are fantastic as they are packed with emotion and hope. I discovered Park Da Hye on YouTube while searching for a K-drama OST, and since then, she has become one of my favorite vocalists. The instrumental wraps around the singer’s sweet voice that keeps pulling me back to this powerful tune. I love the final hook where the singer hits some killer notes that blow me away with each listen. If you haven't checked out Park Da Hye, you should, as she has a beautiful voice that will make you a fan. https://preview.redd.it/tfivyjd55djf1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1aa1da9cd6412a4e4dc0c461d01c07d67e81a9a ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Other Korean Releases of the Week: August 11th Good For U - BoA BoA is back with a Japanese song after releasing a new Korean album last week. The track goes for this thumping vibe that fits the smooth vocals from the singer. The vibe has a funky vibe that pulled me back a few times this week. The hook is a bit repetitive with the lyrics, but it still has a catchy enough vibe that has been getting stuck in my head this week. I’m not sure this is my overall favorite Japanese song from the singer, but it still fits perfectly with her discography. I noticed this year that I’ve been in a big BoA mood, re-listening to all her music https://preview.redd.it/hoiq4snf5djf1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=a18647d9f1b443fec910d4df248266f1dda532f6 .━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Topping - Illit illit is back with their second Japanese track, one that fits the group perfectly. Synth opens up the song with a thumping vibe that blends wonderfully with the group's smooth vocals. The hook is catchy, just like the rest of the group's discography. I have found myself listening to this tune a couple of times this week as it’s been getting stuck in my head like crazy. I find that Illit keeps impressing me with all the releases they have been putting out since their debut. I’m glad the group is putting out Japanese music cause they fit perfectly in that world. https://preview.redd.it/lhvlnfdo5djf1.jpg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=371e8c57a37870c3dbe70f6e776c69b25fed5bc1 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Lastfm Weekly Roundup (August 8th - August 14th) Artist: Twice https://preview.redd.it/od1bil0v5djf1.jpg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ae91f0c85ca4598473ec72590414f850b58747a ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Album: Metal Forth - Babymetal https://preview.redd.it/308l6jl16djf1.jpg?width=696&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ef05bba12fe7321a2423b556658a5dbd180d727 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Song: Golden - Huntr/X https://preview.redd.it/zitttif86djf1.jpg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f365418703f7746ad8fd3734bd3bf752b94b5d8 submitted by /u/Maltifandom23 [link] [comments]

I feel like we always discuss groups with members who look really similar, so I'm curious about the opposite! For me, it was Astro and P1Harmony - I feel like I never had to learn how to tell the members apart. submitted by /u/VodkaAunt [link] [comments]
This isn't just a kpop thing, but since Kpop companies rely SO much on keeping up with what's viral and trendy at the moment, they often switch up a groups aesthetic every other comeback, making it hard for people who aren't fans to distinguish them as artists, and making them very replaceble once they're not 'the next big thing' anymore. It isn't a case of 'which groups fell victim to this phenomenon' rather 'which groups haven't?' because unless the groups have a very strong solid fanbase already, like Twice, BTS, Stray Kids... It's just a matter of time before they fade into irrelevance. Think of Itzy for example, they were monster rookies, and on top for 2 years straight, then they made one 'bad' song, and they haven't been able to get even close to the success of their previous hits. People keep saying that the company is doing them wrong with promotions, but the truth is that people just aren't interested anymore. Unless they're able to release a song that is perfectly in balance with current trends or the other way around, is something new that catches people's attention, the general public doesn't care. Itzy is to me also a reminder that even the big 3 company groups aren't immune to it. Trends die so quickly these days. One day people loved the y2k style coming back, not even a year later people were suddenly tired of it, now we've gone all the way to techno being incorperated into kpop as the next trend. It just all moves so quickly. Kpop fans keep complaining that companies debut too much groups or too fast, but they're just aware of this phenomenon. They know that people want something new, and are just buying into this. That doesn't mean that this isn't a huge problem though. With how fastpaced everything is, it doesn't seem far fetched that these idols, often not even of adult age yet, won't have long lasting careers before being left behind by their companies because they're focusing on their other groups. submitted by /u/Due_Improvement_5699 [link] [comments]

Western music bros are using this 'overrated artists' ranking to justify their racism and I'm literally about to lose my mind we need to talk about this absolute disaster I stumbled upon while doom-scrolling music Twitter/IG. Some Western music elitist boys have been using this ELO voting system for MONTHS trying to "objectively prove" which artists are overrated. 13,000+ votes, professional looking setup, but when you actually investigate it's literally 85% crusty white boys who think having Death Grips in their Spotify wrapped makes them musical philosophers. These are the exact same emotional parasites who spam "kpop isn't real music" under every Korean artist's YouTube comments while their entire personality revolves around some obscure Norwegian black metal band with 47 monthly listeners The actual violence is that people are citing this ranking as "statistical proof" that K-pop artists have no talent. Literally saw someone use this to argue that Western music is "objectively superior" because "the data doesn't lie." Ngl the website itself could legitimately give us the most accurate music taste consensus of all time but rn it's just musical imperialism with a democracy costume. I don't want to start a fan war but I literally cannot let these cringe indie boys be the ones deciding what's "overrated" when they unironically use this to defend their complex of cultural superiority which is directly tied racism/colonialism. submitted by /u/WaldToonnnnn [link] [comments]
