https://youtu.be/6Amq7N7Y1r0?si=7eSwCPspA7u0JNIR Hi there! I just made a chaotic, silly parody cover of KATSEYE’s “Gnarly” — complete with vocals and music video SFX! Would love to hear your thoughts 💚🥰 submitted by /u/RayleneCoverArtist [link] [comments]
The concept is brilliant in the MVS, and it would be even more so if the industry was more liberal and created more controversial clips like in the American pop industry, but opinions aside, the concept of horror is brilliant. Some examples: birth - artms peek a boo - red velvet noir - sunmi submitted by /u/zzadik1el [link] [comments]
I've been reveluv since April 2022, that is, I had the opportunity to follow fmr, wildside, birthday, wendy's comeback, chill kill, cosmic, seulgi's comeback, irene's solo and now seulgi's comeback. Honestly, what catches my attention about this is the fact that red velvet is declining a lot in terms of numbers. Red velvet was an extremely popular group in 2018/2019, and I don't understand how they can't break bubbles anymore. Many say it's due to Wendy's hiatuses in 2020, but that doesn't explain anything. An annual comeback and frequent solo activities by the members form a pattern of great releases for the 11-year-old group. Every year, it seems like red velvet is becoming more forgotten! Do you have hope for them to be as successful as before? honestly, I think it's sad to see this in my favorite group submitted by /u/zzadik1el [link] [comments]
First of all, you don't have to be a producer or songwriter to get into the Academy. The Academy is for music professionals which includes performers, engineers and instrumentalists, all of which don't write the songs. If you want to know more about the application process look here and here. I don't know where we're getting this figure of "must have 2 writing or producing credits" to get in, but I'm not finding a source for that. If you have one, please link it in the comments! Also, the Academy this year is doing a big push for diversity with this new member class. The Grammy's have been getting flack for their lack of diversity for years (e.g. its fraught history with black music). The Grammy's voters are often criticized for being too old, too white, and too biased to fairly judge every category. So this year, they're making a big push about adding fresh voices and perspectives to the voting pool. Here is them patting their own backs on twitter. And who is the highest charting girl group known for their diversity? Katseye! That makes the girls a natural inclusion for this year's new member class imho. They're diverse and they're current which is what the Grammy's desperately needs. Finally, I don't understand why people are so up in arms about this. All this means is Katseye can vote in the Grammy's and submit their work to be considered. That's it! It's a major privilege but not an exclusive one at all. Only Academy members or companies registered with the Academy can submit anyway. Which means every kpop idol/group who has submitted in the past is either already a member or their company is registered. Besides, there's thousands of Academy members who don't have Grammy's. Being a member does not guarantee you a Grammy. You don't have to like or stan Katseye, but accusing their company of gaming the system is factually wrong. If you have a credible source that can refute anything I've said, feel free to link it in the comments. submitted by /u/FluffyBunnyChick [link] [comments]
So this post is not really about the YGE typical concept/sound being good or bad. If you like it, cool, if you don't, also totally fine. But it's hard to deny that what is viewed as a blueprint for YGE girl groups has been plenty successful for a long time now, starting from the 2nd gen and to the current 5th gen. I think 15 years of continuous interest from the public is a decent indicator of it not being a fluke. And interestingly enough YGE girl groups get to claim that entire lane without being really challenged. As an example, the same is not true for their male counterparts. The pattern of a self-produced boy group with a strong rap line and charismatic performers, first popularized in Asia by BigBang and then made famous worldwide by BTS, does get utilized by a lot of labels. Treasure don't get to be unique in that regard, since groups like Stray Kids, ATEEZ and others are also active and killing it. While the pattern of a girl group with a charismatic rap line and hip-hop/EDM based music isn't utilized to the same degree despite a proven track record of success. Obviously we had a girl crush wave at the beginning of 4th gen, partly due to BP's meteoric rise, but groups like ITZY/Aespa/Le Sserafim weren't particularly similar to BP despite having certain elements in common. Maybe Everglow had some singles in that lane. It helped BP because nobody was offering what they offered, so they could maintain all of the interest and attention more easily even without putting out as much content. But the biggest beneficiaries were certainly BabyMonster. Their rollout was messy, they debuted without their most popular member, the promotions were subpar for a big company, their concepts were not exactly original, but they still practically sleepwalked into becoming arguably the biggest 5th gen girl group. And the truth is that there's nothing groundbreaking about why they are successful. They are charismatic and skilled live performers with a hip-hop/EDM based discography, they release bangers that make people want to attend their shows, basically the same reasons why their predecessors did so well too. They just don't have a lot of competition in that lane despite the consistent interest from the general public and K-pop fans alike over the last 15+ years. I seen this done with hair color and female idols but not with outfits for male idols so chose what you feel is the most iconic male idols outfit in each color The commented the most is the one that will win submitted by /u/kpopfan230 [link] [comments]
Now I don't like this user. They're incredibly problematic and have done and said very questionable things, and they are my number one opp in the kpop spear, but regardless these are some great points (do you know that article that's like "worst person you know made a great point?"me rn) The wording is harsh and I don't like that, but there's points here that I agree with Heavy on the first paragraph. Outside of gnarly, I feel like Katseye music are made to appeal to the western audience. Touch, debut, gameboy or Gabriella are songs that are more likely to be liked by « locals » and k-pop stans all togheter. Whereas Vcha’s songs are way more « kpop coded » reminding me of vibrants and catchy Disney coded songs that are more likely to appeal to kpop Stans. To me, this is one of the reasons why Vcha never gained recognition outside of the kpop community. Moreover the group itself was branded as a girl group of youthful and energetic young girls, which is once again how a lot of kpop girl groups are introduced to the public where Katseye adopted a more mature and atypical concept. To be honest when I look at Katseye them I see young, funny, attractive girls in their 20´s. This is again more appealing to an audience worldwide as a lot of people can actually relate to them while JYP monitored every single of Vcha’s public appearances and wouldn’t let them being fully themselves on camera. In that sense I think that the mistreatment played a big role in that aspect as they couldn’t express themselves freely. submitted by /u/Elynuunn [link] [comments]

Idk why but lately, I find myself having this insane feeling towards BONEDO. Like some sort of dopamine or smth. I don't know if it's because of them or just a normal feeling towards stanning new groups but I think it's different. I really like their songs and how it really lifts the spirit within me. Some top songs of mine were IISILY, Serenade, and OUR. I haven't really fully discovered their songs yet and I'm excited to explore more of them. Just wanted to share my feeling cuz I don't have any friends to talk to abt this submitted by /u/min_shu [link] [comments]
I have been stewing about this for the last few days....As a fan of KARD for years, I have always wished them to get a music show win. I know it doesn't matter to them having sold out concerts world wide, or if they are at risk of disbanding cause they obviously are not and have been around for 8 years and still going strong. But as a fan I wish they could have that accomplishment. Then Allday Project shows up and wins only days after debut with KARD promoting their own comeback (Touch which is super sexy btw). I keep asking why. Is it the new shinny thing? Is it Black Lable's money? Cause I think co-ed groups are great and I always wish new ones luck, I am glad to see a co-ed group get love like that. But at the heartbreak for KARD....too soon (I hate when brand new groups win right away always, I feel like it means less) Am I the only one feeling this way? submitted by /u/AncientKpopStan [link] [comments]

Template by u/Funny_shit_ig! Just a small request, let's try to be as fair as possible when naming idols. I know we all love our biases but avoid defaulting to them if there's someone you genuinely think stands out as a dancer even if they're not your ult please feel free to name them. The goal is to appreciate real talent and keep things fun and respectful for everyone! Again to keep things fair, please avoid repeating names that have already been mentioned. Let's give everyone a chance - the comment with the most upvotes wins! submitted by /u/lia_core [link] [comments]

Yesterday, it was announced that a group of HYBE idols were invited to be members of the Recording Academy. Woozi and Zico makes sense, they're actual producers and artists, even yunjin makes sense. but katseye? really? And I saw people saying, well Addison Rae got invited, so why not katseye, addison co-wrote and co-produced a critically praised album alongside 2 female producers. katseye do not have a single credit in their two critically panned EPs which was described as generic and incohesive, for all we know the girls have never even been in the room which their music was made in, what do they know about music? and i know this is all HYBE and they applied for the members but the optics do not look good. leon thomas spent years in the industry before being invited, katseye is a year old group with no credibility besides a billion dollar conglomerate backing them submitted by /u/Positive-Guava4746 [link] [comments]
