I hope I worded that decently, if not I have an example from my own experience. This is more so for the non Korean speakers. What songs do you know that are commonly referred to by their English title but your first instinct is to think of the Korean one? For me, it's Crazy Form by Ateez! I remember watching all of them on Level up project and shows like Weekly Idol, Let's eat dinner together, Sister slam dunk, Yangnam show, Return of Superman, Knowing Bros, etc. and they are all fun episodes. Seulgi and Yeri also did Law of The Jungle, but in the post covid era, (though Joy did Handsome tigers) I haven't seen RV as a group appear in these shows anymore. I'm not talking about Music bank, Inkigayo, or the likes coz those are music shows. As far as I know they had like 2 comebacks with chill kill and cosmic, but it's surprising that they didn't even guested and promoted their new songs/albums on shows like Knowing bros, which is the show that they 'made' when their guesting in 2016 went viral, got high ratings, and propeled the show to new heights. I just feel gutted for them. Especially seeing 3rd gen groups like Apink, Oh my girl, and even 2nd gen groups like KARA and Sistar19 appearing on it in the 2020's, but RV as a group hasn't appeared on it during chill kill and cosmic era. Not even individually. Yes, Wendy did had a couple of survival music shows where she's a vocal judge, Joy appearing on I Live Alone and Seulgi opening up a YT channel in the past year, but I miss the times seeing them all together in variety shows. The recent Seulrene comeback deserved at least a guesting on running man or something. It's a tragedy knowing that they're one of the most well known and talented groups, but their lack of appearances in TV shows, they don't deserve it. Probably some people have already said it, but I stumbled upon a TikTok saying if this song played at their 2026 concert and the comments were saying this song wasn't even controversial and I just got frustrated. If Namjoon has seeked for advice to be more educated on these things, than he's already admitting they were in the wrong. There's no need to continue brushing it off I don't especially get people when this song says they're praising women instead, sure they are praising women but it's the praising in the way society has always viewed women as a objectification and nothing more. This song literally reduces women to their physical features rather than valuing them as people in general. "Body architecture 101" "Her hair, body, hips, legs, even the parts I can't say" "a beauty cultural asset that should be protected by the states" is literally just sexual objectification because they're explicitly saying women is treated as properties of preservation instead of being autonomous "Girls are like an equation, we boys solve them" just kinda implies women exist to be solved by men which is just.... patronizing and reduces them more to challenges rather than equals. I know this is by no means an unpopular opinion, but companies nowadays prioritising SEO above literally everything else when giving their new groups names is actively harming some of these groups. The amount of boy groups that are various combinations of three letter acronyms (TNX, NTX, NTB, NCT, TAN, TFN, TO1, TST, TWS, BDU, BDC, BXB, DXZ, DKB, KNK, TXT, yes these are all real), or girl groups that have the wackiest punctuation thrown in randomly (blank2y, sweet:ch, I’LL-IT, EL7Z U+P), is absolutely insane. God FORBID new groups have a name that throw up even one single result if you searched it before their debut! There were definitely extremely funky and odd names in previous generations too (trust me, I was there for Up10tion, Fin.K.L and Teenage Emoboy Emotion Next Generation Talent Object Praise.) But my point is you’d absolutely never get groups with names like Red Velvet, Seventeen, Twice, 2PM, BTS (that last one STILL has nightmarish SEO issues and they’re the biggest group in the world) now. The more groups debut, the stranger the names get, and I think this is detrimental to the groups themselves. Nowadays we’re getting groups like idntt, ifeye, idid, AHOF, 3way, hitgs, smorz, and zoonizini - these are meaningless, blend into each other and are embarrassing to share with others. (Absolutely no hate the quality and talent of these groups and their members, I am blaming the random C-suite execs in their respective companies who are making insane naming choices.) Not saying it’s all misses - there have been some alright names recently, like AllDay Project and KickFlip, but these are few and far between in the grand scheme of things. I’d argue SEO doesn’t even matter that much any more - if everything’s fed to us through algorithms now, how often do we even find ourselves actively searching for things? Also, who cares if you’ve found a unique combination of three letters to make a brand new acronym if no one can tell it apart from the other million three letter acronyms.
