(Not a S2U btw so i might not know the lore) First of all, I like the group name, idk if its an unpopular opinion. "It's giving nugu" lol, not a drag for me. But their stage names? Let me open kpoprofiles up. Jiwoo - there is few other Jiwoos, they could be more creative here but on the other side, its her name soo its okay, im just nitpicking. Carmen - from her surname, right? very cute Yuha - okay, it reminds me kinda of Pristin and Yuha and i liked their stage names in general. Stella - the name she used in canada, cute. SM finally debuted a Stella. (Am I the only one who remembers about SNSD's pre debut lineup changes?) deep sigh here we go Juun - honestly it should be just Jueun, i don't like the spelling A-na (에이나) - Sorry but just Ana would be better even though it's painfully basic, or anything else really with -na at the end. It sounds awkward. Ian - i just found out it's her real name tbh😭 I was ready to throw hands at SM... Let me admit, that's a rare name among idols. I know it's spelled correctly but I would make her a Yian or something (what is wrong with me?) Ye-on (예온) - I hate it. This is how I used to think I'm supposed to read Yeon (연) when I saw Hyoyeon and Taeyeon for the first time. Two syllables. It sucks. Whose idea was that? submitted by /u/ke0ta [link] [comments]

Articles / Timeline 250422 This day marks one year since HYBE launched their audit of Min Hee Jin and ADOR's management. Happy(?) 1st anniversary of the Megathreads! 250502 The 3rd hearing for Min Hee Jin vs. Belift Lab was set to take place but postponed to July 18th at Belift Lab's request. Each side is due to present their arguments/documents regarding plagiarism issues at the next meeting. (Source: Maeil Kyungjae) 250530 We learned that ADOR had filed for 'indirect enforcement' after their injunction was granted and NewJeans performed at ComplexCon back in March (Filed on April 4th according to the statement from NewJeans' representatives linked below). On the 30th, the 52nd Division of the Seoul Central District court further granted this request. The 'indirect enforcement' ruling means that each individual member of NewJeans will be fined 1 billion won (approx. $725,000) if they continue with entertainment activities independent of ADOR, which would be in violation of the injunction. This enforcement with potential fines does NOT apply to any of NewJeans' independent activities between the granting of the injunction and the granting of this 'indirect enforcement'. These fines will only apply to future activities going forward, or at least until rulings with NewJeans' appeal or the main contract validity case changes anything (next hearing on June 5th). (Source: Chosun Biz, MK Sports) The Korea Herald: Court orders NewJeans to pay Ador 1 billion won for each unauthorized activity Discussion Post Korea JoongAng Daily: Court orders NewJeans members to pay ADOR $725,600 for every independent entertainment activity A statement by NewJeans' representatives was made later in the day primarily acknowledging the indirect enforcement ruling, but reiterating that it is temporary and will no longer have an effect if NewJeans win their appeal of the injunction. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. (Sources: X Sport News, Maeil Kyungjae) 250612 The next hearing regarding the Shareholder Agreement termination and exercising put/call options lawsuits between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held at the Seoul Central District Court's 31st Division. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. (Sources: Maeil Kyungjae, TV Daily, Sports Today) 250617 Following up from April 16th when NewJeans appealed the court's decision to uphold the injunction and halt on their independent activities, the Seoul High Court reaffirmed the earlier decision. The court rejected NewJeans' appeal. They determined there was no significant change in the material/arguments presented for the appeal and the original decision to grant ADOR's injunction was justified. There was further clarification that the management conflict between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, and her no longer being NewJeans' producer, did not constitute a valid argument for the alleged collapse of trust between ADOR and NewJeans. The group's withdrawal from ADOR is considered arbitrary, that their artistic freedom or activity is not impeded since they are able to do so within their exclusive contract, and that any damages resulting from attempting independent activities are self-inflicted. 1. In my opinion kpop fans need to stop saying these things.

  • 51 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

"It was ahead of i'ts time" - I can understand if maybe it wasn't successful at the time but often times it was so.. was it really? "Just because you don't like it doesn't mean other people will agree" - Yes. That's why it's called an opinion "Okay but what about what happened in 3rd/4th Gen" - girl noone cares, that doesn't excuse what's going on in 5th Gen. You go back to 3rd Gen then. "Twitter/X hate means nothing" - did you think HYBE owns Twitter? Or that the fourteen year old in their room making viral hate posts for attention was gonna affect a group's comeback? "[insert group] comeback flopped" - sigh, they still sold out the tour, and sold millions of their album and here you are saying they flopped because it didn't chart or you didn't hear about it. "[insert group] are fifth gen leaders" - Says who? they only debuted last year. "you don't know these people" - kpop is parasocial, leave if you are uncomfortable. This probably won't stay up long because some of y'all have skin made of paper and that's funny because it's you same ones that say these things when you'd never survive the industry. submitted by /u/onlyeveryotherday [link] [comments]

2. Inside Labels and Companies: FROM JACKSON'S POV

It’s kind of like that saying, “It’s not the country that’s bad, it’s the people who run it.” But at the same time, because those people work under the company’s name, whatever they do ends up reflecting back on the company. So yeah, it’s really a double-edged sword, isn't it? submitted by /u/Daddy1007a [link] [comments]

3. Talking about Boys 2 Planet Kang Woojin

Hi everyone. I'm making my first Reddit post in hopes it can reach many people. Boys 2 Planet is coming to an end this week and I really want Kang Woojin to debut. I have been rooting for him since the beginning. I want those who don't know about him to see the talent that he is. I know y'all would adore him — just watch his performance to Atlantis Princess by BoA and you'll see how amazing he is. There is something about him that is rare to see now in humans: his humbleness and kindness. I think someone like him deserves the opportunity to debut.. He is an amazing singer and dancer (again watch his performance to Atlantis Princess and tell me that isn't the cutest dance you've seen). He is handsome and TALL. Like come on visual and talent AND kindness, what more could you want in an idol. I just really want him to debut 🥲 I hope I convinced at least one person. If you can, I ask for you to download the Mnet+ app and go to Boys 2 Planet and vote for Kang Woojin until the final episode airs 🩵 submitted by /u/goldfishslippers_ [link] [comments]

10. Older (22+) kpop fans who've grown up liking kpop, what's something you've changed your opinion on?

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Before I used to think idols were so cool and hardworking for doing so many things within a tight schedule and as a Suzy fan, I'd literally brag about how much she does and how little sleep she gets but how good she always sounds and how she is still amazing at everything she does but after getting internships and now working full time, I just see it as horrible planning on their company's part. And the fact that this is a very consistent thing that happens across companies is very concerning. It made sense to me before to want to promote their comeback well so performing on music shows and appearing and promoting in various other ways for 2 weeks but now my adult brain cant comprehend why it was made this way. The promotion cycle can definetly be extended longer and we really dont need a new performance every day/every other day. Performances can definelty be spread out on top of other promotional activities and I think more things can be pre recorded and companies should be able to plan things better so idols arent only sleeping for 3 hours. Has anyone else had their perception about something in kpop changed like this? submitted by /u/MaximumAstronomer747 [link] [comments]

11. (Unpopular opinion) Both labels and artists are lucky to have each other

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I saw so many talented groups with great music come and go without ever getting the big break that they deserve because they just happened to be under shitty labels that mistreated and mismanaged them. The one that hurt me the most is pentagon, who knew how big they could be if cube just get their shit together and manage and promote them properly. Kpop fans always said that this label is so lucky to have this group under them but i would argue is the other way around, yess the group is talented and deserve their success 100% but so does other Hundred groups in the industry that disbanded because of their labels mismanagement and if they debuted under a shitty labels like cube, TS or MBK ent they probably would long gone without ever getting their big break. So both the artists and the labels are lucky to have each other. submitted by /u/Chemical_Mobile_6613 [link] [comments]

Hi! I'm building a girl group with my friends (we didn't know each other before this, but connected through the project). We currently have 4 out of 5 members and are looking for our final member. We're specifically looking for East Asian or Southeast Asian girls, ages 22-24 (we don't want to go higher than 24), preferably based in the GTA/Ontario/Canada or the USA (Los Angeles, Houston, Texas). Our group already includes members from different cultural backgrounds, and we'd love to add this representation to complete the lineup and create a strong, balanced dynamic. Our concept is celestial, and we plan to release music in the genres of pop, alternative pop, and upbeat R&B. If you have experience in singing, dancing, rapping, or all three, we'd love to hear from you! Please feel free to reach out with your preferred contact method (Discord, FaceTime, email, Instagram) along with any social media you'd like to share. submitted by /u/honeydewisis [link] [comments]

13. Japanese K-Pop releases that sounds like J-Pop is overrated

  • 5 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Just a few posts before this there is someone asking for K-Pop releases that sound really like J-Pop. The most recent example being UNIS's MoshiMoshi. I don't think it's a bad song, I respect the fact that the whole song is in Japanese, and I get that they're aiming for authenticity. Also, UNIS's concept as a group fits the song well, at least from what I know about them. It just sounds too much like an already existing J-Pop song for me. It's produced by Honeyworks, famous mainly for their viral hit "Kawaikute Gomen" in 2022-2023, and their UNIS's song sounds like it could be sang by any musician in Japan, which makes it sound generic in the midst of so many already existing cute J-Pop songs. However, I also saw a twitter post with a ton of likes praising UNIS's new song MoshiMoshi for "actually sounding like J-Pop" and getting an actual Japanese producer (Honeyworks). That twitter post and the replies are particularly grating to me because it seems like some people think that Japanese K-Pop releases have to sound like what people think is "authentic" J-Pop, when in reality, J-Pop has many subgenres, and K-pop fans in Japan listen to K-pop because they're not much into the conventional J-pop sounds, or they just want a breathe of fresh air. I also listen to a lot of J-Pop and J-Pop is not just cute idol music. I think it comes from a misunderstanding from some anime or J-idol fans of what J-Pop actually is. As someone who listens to both K-pop and J-pop (not just cute idol J-pop), I prefer if K-pop groups add their own flair into Japanese releases, or be bold and use those J-Pop inspired sounds in their Korean comebacks, like YENA did with Nemonemo. submitted by /u/GaurdsGuards [link] [comments]

14. Should I listen and support Katseye? Even after everything that happened with Yoonchae?

  • 5 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

So I have recently got into Katseye and I originally that this group was all adults but after doing so research after seeing a video talking about their ages and I got a little worried about hearing that Yoonchae was 17 especially after all the other stuff I have been hearing about other group members doing and posting what would be deemed as sexual while underage. I really do like their music but should I be supporting a group that does this stuff? To be fair I have been on and off in the kpop community for a while so I never truly realized how bad minor exploitation actually is. I have been hearing different opinions on the matter and I respect and understand all of them expect the ones made by actual predators. I just dont want to be rash and jump into a decision about this without hearing any outside opinions. submitted by /u/Glittering_Light_605 [link] [comments]
