I seriously don’t understand the way people talk about Wonyoung. For years, people were saying she looked “too skinny” or “unhealthy” — throwing around concern like it was free. Now that she’s gained a little weight and doesn’t look like a 16-year-old anymore, it’s suddenly “she lost her prime,” “her face looks weird,” or “she’s pillow-faced.” Also — and I say this with full chest — whatever she does to her face is NONE of our business. Whether she got fillers or just gained weight or literally did nothing, it doesn’t matter. She doesn’t owe you an explanation for changes in her face, her body, or anything else. The same goes for any kpop Idol And let’s be real: most of those “concerned” comments are just hate wearing a mask. “I’m just worried for her health” — yeah sure, HyunjinsLeftButtcheek, you were totally just being a supportive fan while calling her bloated and saying she ruined her face. We see you. Anyway I'm not even a fan of her but seeing hate comments and posts about her all over my fyp just made me realize that the obsession with holding kpop idols to some imaginary standard of perfection is weird. They're a real person, not a concept. submitted by /u/ventilah [link] [comments]
Okay, so... I have to vent about this and hear about you guys. Last year, EVERGLOW came to my country. I was broke, they were coming to another state, the tickets were expensive... all coming together for me to stay at home and cry. But it was EVERGLOW. The only girlgroup I got interested after SISTAR disbanded. And most of all, I was sure they were going to disband the year after. There was no way these girls were going to stay with that company. For me, Mia was already giving up on being an idol although she never showed it on stage, Yiren would be safer in China cause girl went though hell and back in Korea, E:U was probably full of people talking about her appearance and Sihyeon would probably pursue acting. So I took my credit card, booked a hotel, a flight and a VIP ticket to see Yiren (mind you, my bias is Aisha) cause I knew Yuehua would try to keep her in some way. For my surprise, during a vlog with E:U and Sihyeon, Yiren said she wanted to be on EVERGLOW forever. This destroyed me. I was the one dooming the group and they were putting up a fight to keep going. Then came the disband, the lives were they talked about finding a company (minus Yiren and Mia) and I was convinced they were going to find a new one in a second, but some of my thoughts came true. Mia wrote a post last month saying how her lines were chosen. YH decided what was best for the girls to sing, and in the end, she received what she was supposed to sing. She never got a saying in this. It has been 7 years listening to people say she was eating the other members lines, stealing the spotlight being both the main dancer and main vocal, and even being "enemies" with the other girls. Again, how do you deal with this on your own? Your company doesn't give AF about what they say about you online. They send you into a hiatus until people seemingly forgot about what they said. They did this with Aisha (girl literally had her parents paying lawyers to prove she was innocent of all that bullying mess that got Soojin kicked out of Idle), with Yiren (girl was MIA for almost 2 YEARS). Again, I'm surprised Yiren wanted to stay so much but is stuck with them. Part of me wanted her to be on a courtroom but that's too painful and everyone knows how it ends. But Mia? She was getting bullets from both sides: the agency and the public. Heck, they're even comemorating that now that she is gone, the others are singing more. Can this girl have a break?! I always see so much posts of people talking about this idol or this group deserving a public apology but they never mention EVERGLOW. Specially, Mia. She mentioned that she'll keep on dancing and singing, but I don't think it's for the general public anymore. Part of me is pretty sure Yiren is escaping YH CHINA as soon as possible and joining the other four. But Mia is tired. And she's been talking about it for the past couple of years. I'd love to see both of them joining the group of course. But I'm glad I got to see the best of their performances last year and I'll stay inside the trenches for the 6 of them. submitted by /u/hokagex [link] [comments]

Sorry if this doesn’t really make sense 😭 but I’ve noticed that some groups have a huge online presence (especially on platforms like Twitter or TikTok), yet their public recognition seems pretty low. So I was wondering if there was a reverse of that? Like, are there any groups that have a big fanbase and strong public recognition in South Korea or internationally, but don’t have as much online buzz compared to other groups with super active fandoms? submitted by /u/Plastic_Fishing_1686 [link] [comments]

H2H is a group that follows trends rather than sets them. Their songs are fine for easy listening but nothing really grabs your attention. The vocals are average, they lip sync almost all the time and the concept is generic. SM used to be the company that set the standard but now it feels like they are simply copying whatever happens to be popular. Yes, I get that they are rookies but that should not mean they get a free pass. When you look at female sm idols like Bada, Lina, taeyeon, Luna, wendy and ningning, they were all fantastic singers from the moment they debuted. If you want to be an idol, you should already know how to sing, dance and have stage presence. Debut is not supposed to be the point where you start learning the basics. What is the point of training for years if you come out looking unprepared? Right now, the strongest girl groups in terms of vocals in 5th gen are Fifty fifty’s (new line-up), Babymonster and ablume. Just being from SM does not automatically make you the best at vocals. Mamamoo are unmatched in vocals in 3rd gen and Nmixx leads in vocals in 4th gen. SM stans or pink bloods need to stop pretending that h2h is some vocal powerhouse when that is clearly not the case. No one in H2H is in the top 15 best female vocalists in 5th gen. Even idols that are not from the big 4 beat them. This is exactly why I struggle with sm stans or Pink Bloods. They refuse to acknowledge anything negative about H2H, no matter how obvious it is. It is just blind loyalty to SM groups at this point. If h2h had debuted under a different label, especially a smaller one, people would be far more honest about their shortcomings but because they are from SM, there is this constant shield around them. SM stans or pink bloods are the most toxic and annoying company stans in kpop. They act like every sm group is flawless, even when that is clearly not true. H2H’s music is not bad but it is not particularly good either. It is just alright. None of the members stand out vocally and their voices all sound similar. I genuinely cannot tell who is singing in their songs all the time. The same goes for their visuals. They are not unattractive, but their features are so alike that it is hard to distinguish one from another. Even their personalities feel a bit flat. Not dull, but not especially engaging either. Also, I have never understood the idea that we are not allowed to criticise rookies. Being an idol is a job. You are expected to be trained before debut, not after. You should be able to sing live, dance well, have solid stage presence and bring something to the table personality wise. If you are not ready to do that, then maybe you are not ready to debut. It really is that simple. I have seen a lot of people saying h2h gives off nugu vibes and I get it. Some even say they look more nugu than actual nugu groups, which is wild considering they are from sm. SM stans or Pink bloods love picking on groups from other companies. Back in the day, sones used to hate on Twice just because they have nine members and are called “the nation’s girl group” like SNSD. Then, exo-ls started hating on Twice too, all because of the superpowers concept in the Signal mv. It was not even that deep, but they made it a whole thing. Now you have MYs coming for ITZY and NMIXX every chance they get. SM stans or Pink bloods never want to admit that NMIXX is actually stronger than Aespa and WayV when it comes to vocals in 4th gen. They just cannot handle the idea that another company might be doing something better. JYP idols are always easy targets because JYP has the least hardcore company stans among the big 4. That makes their groups easier to drag online and let’s be honest, most of the people saying JYPE would flop without Twice, Day6 or Stray Kids are SM stans or Pink Bloods who just want to see them fail. submitted by /u/brushandmuse [link] [comments]
Yuna has recently been going viral for "wearing hip pads" AGAIN. I don't know if it's just me but I really don't see why this is such a hot topic? I don't know if she wears hip pads but even if she did, why does it matter? Why does everyone care? It seems like such a non-issue that is being blown out of proportion. People act as if every other idol hasn't had at least some form of plastic surgery and hip pads are some sort of anomaly. “ITZY's Yuna goes viral for wearing hip pads in recent clip” OMG WHO TF CARES??? submitted by /u/Infamous_Egg_5625 [link] [comments]
For me, watching Queendom Puzzle, I lost a ton of respect that I had for Lee Chaeyeon of IZ*ONE fame. She seemed really self-absorbed and unkind to the other idols, not giving them due respect and being incredibly cocky about her dancing. She left the show and people say it's because they gave her an evil edit, but IMO it's because she was embarrassed by her own behavior. Previously I thought she was a really down-to-earth idol who worked super hard to overcome limitations of the industry, but Puzzle left a bad taste in my mouth. Still, I wonder: WAS it an evil edit? Have I been suckered? submitted by /u/aesparules [link] [comments]
The animated background dancers during the bands Ghosts song “dance macabre” on the skeletour are doing blackpinks shutdown choreography. Myself and some others and the Ghost subreddit have noted this and I thought I would share it here as well. Here is a rough side by side video. submitted by /u/just_here_109 [link] [comments]

Since I haven't seen any English website or account talking about this, I'm sharing this update which sheds some light to some things currently happening in Cube. To add some context, Cube has been planning to debut a new girl group. Originally a boy group was going to debut in 2023 and a girl group in 2024, however their plans got delayed with their boy group Nowadays (currently rebranded as Nowz) debuting last year. Cube has also abandoned Lightsum, who have spent most of the year performing at military events and at a couple of festivals. They haven't uploaded any tiktok or youtube content in months and there's no sign of any comeback or music release, despite it's been a year since Pose! which was a low-budget digital release. On July 7th, Cube applied trademarks for 'XOGEANS' and 'NEW GG' which seemed to be for this upcoming girl group. The reactions everywhere were very negative, since the name was a mix of EXO and NewJeans, everyone thinking it that felt lazy, tasteless and disrespectful with no understanding of how the industry works. However, if you check KIPRIS website since July 31st, you can see that the applications are gone and a representative from the company also confirmed they had cancelled those trademarks and they're still in planning stages. What's interesting is that a recent article about this also mentions that several Cube employees have revealed in websites such as Blind that the company's own workers had no idea about the trademark application, not even the department head, as it was one-sidely done by Cube CEO with a team he had a hastily put together by himself without telling anyone. There seems to be complaints that Cube works based on the CEO's whims, not having long-term plans for the future. As a reminder, Cube's CEO is the same person who was accused of allegedly being involved in crypto scams, although he denied the claims that it was a scam, and he's also the person with the largest shares in Cube (36%, in second place is VT with 10%). Cube has been doing a good job with their new boy group Nowz, I've never seen Cube work so hard to promote a group. In one year they've already released almost the same amount of songs than Lightsum in 4 years and they aren't self-produced, they were at KCON LA this weekend (the last time Lightsum went to any KCON was 3 years ago when they were still 8 members), El Capitxn and his team produced most of their new album, i-dle Yuqi and Pentagon Wooseok producing the pre-release that included a Chinese version since they heavily lured Yuqi's c-fans and nevies. And they still have i-dle for 3 more years, so Cube is safe for now. But i-dle are the only ones who renewed with them in the past couple of years while everyone else has been leaving. In April 2023, Cube posted profile pictures of their 40 artists in their building. As of August 2025, 21 artists from those 40 have left the company (and Moon Suin had left Cube in early 2023, shortly before that picture was posted). We'll have to see what will happen with their upcoming girl group, if they will debut this year or if it will get delayed. Whatever plan the CEO had with XOGEANS, it backfired so bad that they had to quickly shut it down and the employees are trying to clean up his mess. submitted by /u/Mundane_Detective_41 [link] [comments]

I have been experimenting with study music for quite some time now. I can't do anything in silence. Tried lofi, piano, binaural, rain sounds, all the usual stuff but all that just ends up making me sleeps most of the time. NCT instrumentals (i listen to the instrumentals while studying), especially NCT 127's are really complex and have dramatic beat switches and a lot of different instruments blended in, which really helps me stay sharp and focused. Just a random though i thought i'd share. submitted by /u/wegooverthehorizon [link] [comments]
ADP replaced KIOF at Kcon and we know what the driving force behind their removal was. Last week or the week before that Tarzzan got exposed for saying the N word and he hasn’t issued an apology, his label hasn’t acknowledged it and I see a lot of Redditors defending him. Compare this to how KIOF was treated, they even apologised multiple times. Tarzzan seems untouchable and unscathed, why is that? Is it Annie Moon’s money and influence or is it classic misogyny. Before anyone says “but it’s different” yeah you’re right, 1 livestream vs someone who’s been appropriating black culture since he debuted. It is very different and he seems to be getting away with it. He even turned up to kcon LA in corn rows . submitted by /u/DumbDumb1000 [link] [comments]

Kpop is selling a fantasy of perfection and yes that includes looks. They're literally called idols. There's plenty of music out there for people that don't care about visuals. I love kpop but I'm not delusional that my favs all got their jobs because they have the most talent, especially not when it comes to vocals. I'm not defending toxicity, I was raised that if you have nothing nice to say then you shouldn't say anything at all, but if all you care about is music and dance there's plenty of other avenues for you to pursue those interests. submitted by /u/tyrico [link] [comments]
