I was thinking about why this year feels so uneventful… like there’s scandals sure, but where are the hits? The song of the summer was for sure golden. Idol group wise famous did well in Korea but internationally im not sure. Same with the boy next door song. While internationally i did see Go a lot on tiktok, but it’s not a hit in Korea. Overall, the only hit this year both in korea and internationally was probably like Jennie. For the second part: I looked through melon and just listed all the songs that have over 150k likes on the website for the poll or over 150 mil on Spotify. I’ll also include some stats I found down below for the major groups. I’ll be excluding groups some of the newer groups like unis, ahof, etc cuz they don’t have the stats yet. Boy groups biggest hit - melon likes, Spotify streams Riize: love 119 - 133k likes, get a guitar - 125 mil Zb1: in bloom - 80k likes, in bloom - 74 mil Tws: plot twist - 166k likes (still charting), plot twist - 92 mil Boynextdoor: if i say i love you - 169k (still charting + a couple other songs too), earth wind fire - 68 mil Cortis: Go - 23k (still charting), go - 43 mil Girl groups biggest hit - melon likes, Spotify streams Kiss of life: Sticky - 94k, igloo - 201 mil Qwer: T.B.H - 152k (still charting + a few other songs too), T.B.H - 20 mil Babymonster: Drip - 68k (still charting), Sheesh - 348 mil Rescene: Love attack - 42k, Glow up - 8 mil Illit: magnetic - magnetic (still charting + do dance) - 139k, magnetic - 688 mil Izna: sign - 34k, sign - 21 mil Kiiikiii: i do me - 63k, i do me - 25 mil Heart2heart: style - 42k (still charting), the chase - 79 mil Allday project: famous - 119k (still top 10), famous - 50 mil Meovv - hands up - 36k (still charting), meovv - 93 mil Some groups that debuted late 4th gen but didn’t got more recognition during 5th gen + are similar in age as well: Nmixx: dice - 77k (but blue valentine will overtake soon since it is number 1 on melon), dice - 195 mil (just one more than o.o lol) H1key: rose blossom - 125k (not charting but they have a different song charting), rose blossom - 13 mil, Triple s: Girls never die - 69k, generation - 53 mil Comment down below any surprises too View Poll submitted by /u/Major-Specialist3658 [link] [comments]

I'm currently making a playlist of (beloved) kpop songs that generally speaking would make a non-kpop listener go WTF the first time hearing it either because of its absurdity, experimental sound, or that it completely subverts expectation. What are some songs I can add? My playlist so far: aespa - Savage Ateez - Guerilla, Halazia Big Bang - Fantastic Baby Exo - Mama f(x) - NU ABO G-Dragon - One of a Kind, Crayon SNSD - I Got A Boy, The Boys Itzy - ICY Katseye - Gnarly Monsta X - Shoot Out NCT - Baggy Jeans, Cherry Bomb OnlyOneOf - skinz, Chrome Hearts Red Velvet - Rookie, Dumb Dumb, Zimzalabim Stray Kids - God's Menu Super Junior - Spy 2NE1 - I Am the Best submitted by /u/snivyyy [link] [comments]
Since late 2017, JYPE has restructured their organizational infrastructure and divided into separate divisions, with each division independently handling marketing, planning, and management for associated artists. These are the labels that we know today: ONE Label (Division 1) - 2PM, Stray Kids, NiziU, NEXZ (NiziU and NEXZ are part of JYP JAPAN but they are managed by Div 1 for Korean activities) BLU:M (Division 2) - ITZY STRIDE (Division 3) - JYP, TWICE, KickFlip SQU4D (Division 4) - NMIXX STUDIO J - DAY6, Xdinary Heroes and there's also JYP CHINA that manages BOY STORY and JYP America with GIRLSET. As a MIDZY, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the divisions your favorite groups are part of. I'll share my thoughts on the ones that I'm familiar with. I won't get into ONE Label and STRIDE because I'm not as knowledgeable about the way they operate. I have a lot of bones to pick with BLU:M. Personally, I think they are the worst operating division in JYPE. I just don’t feel much drive or passion from them. They are the least proactive when it comes to media or promotions, and it often bums me out because other labels seem to put more effort into pushing their artists in new directions, whether it works out or not. BLU:M, on the other hand, feels reluctant and slow to pivot. I could write a whole essay on them but I won't because it will be too long. I honestly believe ITZY could have been even more successful under a different division. I'm just praying that they do ITZY right in their upcoming comeback next month. Studio J, the band division, is one I’m not as familiar with in terms of fan opinions, but I’ve always loved both DAY6 and Xdinary Heroes. They seem to have the most creative freedom musically, but the least in terms of budget. The quality of their music has always been top tier though. I’m not exactly sure how Zombie went viral, but it only took one spark, and once it did, the rest was history. That’s why so many of DAY6’s older tracks are still charting on the Melon Top 100 today. Xdinary Heroes have also been putting out great music, and I’m optimistic their moment will come too. Lastly, there’s SQU4D, home of NMIXX. Personally, I think SQU4D is the best division in JYPE when you look at the full picture. I’ve been following NMIXX more closely lately, and it really feels like SQU4D has figured out how to manage this group. Their in-house variety content is superb, probably the best I’ve seen in terms of editing, creativity, and production value. The concepts and editing style are so trendy and polished. Everything feels high quality. Of course, it also helps that the NMIXX members have the personalities to shine in variety shows. Haewon and Lily are absolute cheat codes. What impresses me most is their musical direction. I’ll admit, I wasn’t a big fan of their debut year music, and it took me a while to give them another shot. Oh, and I thought their styling on the girls was very off in the beginning. But since the start of 2024, they’ve been on an incredible streak. Every release has been high quality, with zero misses in my book. The grand reception from their most recent album says it all. They finally hit the jackpot and captured the GP’s attention with Blue Valentine. It really feels like SQU4D is going all in on NMIXX, doing everything they can to make them the best group possible. Their performance videos look like MVs, and the production value of their music and MV are top tier. I wish ITZY had a division like this that really believed in them, nurtured their potential, and matched their ambition. I've realized that I've only written positive things about SQU4D but I'm sure avid NMIXX fans have their own criticisms to share. After all, no label is perfect, and it's impossible to satisfy all the fans. I’m curious to know what your thoughts are on each of the JYPE divisions. What are you satisfied with, and what do you think could be improved? submitted by /u/Carelessies [link] [comments]

I've noticed that, lately, K-Pop seems to be more focused on numbers and marketing than on musical quality. It's comeback after comeback, endless album versions, rare photocards, and huge campaigns — but, in the end, few songs really make a mark. It seems that companies are more concerned with selling the group's image than building a strong artistic identity. Before, each group had a very clear sound and concept — now everything sounds more “planned to go viral”. Of course there are still artists who make soulful music, but I feel like this has become the exception. What do you think? Has K-Pop become too much of a product, or has that always been part of the industry? submitted by /u/Fun-Diver-6166 [link] [comments]
I'll start, my dad said that in this specific photocard Seonghwa looked like a serial killer that was wearing the skin of one of his victims (idk how he came up with that, but ok) And I'm not talking "he looks like a girl" I MEAN DIABOLICAL submitted by /u/EpicUserName00 [link] [comments]
when i listened to the album top to bottom i couldn't help to think it could've been so much more. maybe longer songs with diverse melodies and instrumentals? someone to call my lover by janet jackson is an example of a lovely song that would fit imo. i'm curious to know what others think! submitted by /u/Euphoric-Square8410 [link] [comments]

As the title says; what is the consensus recently on Park Bom as a main vocalist? Do you consider her as the main vocalists of her generation? Yea or nay? submitted by /u/jdpm1991 [link] [comments]

A woman who attempted to break into BTS member Jungkook’s home on the day of his military discharge will not face trial, sparking online debate about leniency toward celebrity stalkers. The Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office said on Wednesday that the woman received a suspension of indictment on Sept. 10 for attempted trespassing. The decision means that while prosecutors acknowledged her wrongdoing, they chose not to bring the case to court after considering the circumstances and outcome of the crime. Prosecutors said the woman's actions amounted only to an attempt, and that she has since left Korea, making the likelihood of reoffending low. According to police, the woman, a Chinese national, visited Jungkook’s residence in Yongsan District, Seoul, around 11:20 p.m. on June 11 — the same day Jungkook was discharged from military service. She reportedly tried multiple times to enter the home by pressing the door’s passcode buttons, but was caught after nearby residents alerted authorities. She told investigators she had traveled to Korea “to see Jungkook after his discharge.” Police referred the case to prosecutors without detention in August, charging her with attempted housebreaking. The case reignited discussions about stalker behavior targeting K-pop stars, especially after Jungkook himself spoke about invasions of privacy last year. In December, while serving in the military, Jungkook went live on social media during a short leave and briefly showed the interior of his new home. “I saw videos on YouTube about my new house being completed,” he said at the time. “Since I’ve moved, I really hope no one comes to my home. Please, I’m asking you.” What are your thoughts? Is this a gross miscarriage of justice? Do you think cases like these should be taken more seriously by the courts? I'm curious to know your take. submitted by /u/0x1trinity [link] [comments]
Congrats to EJAE for signing with WME for worldwide representation in all areas of her musical career. source This is great news for her as she gets to bypass all the kpop companies and all the constraints that come with working under a kpop company. This means she can be way more creative in what she can do, say and collaborate with. I expect to see a lot more great things from her. submitted by /u/Serious-Wish4868 [link] [comments]
Firstly, helloooo whoever said that JYP artists aren’t entertainers or variety show material is dead wrong? But the thing I’m mad about is the fact that they are by far the most family-like and the most comfortable with each other out of all companies but we’re just now getting these crumbs and moments? The fact that other companies would die to have groups with this kind of bond/friendship and now you have JYPE who ain’t doing anything about this? The most we get are just TikTok challenges up until now. What the hell are you doing JYPE? Give us the JYPNATION concert now!! submitted by /u/Ok-Comfortable9694 [link] [comments]
