I honestly find it baffling lol. For some context, Spotify just had it's monthly remove streams thing (I'm sorry I don't know how else to word it) and BTS, specifically the members solos were recognized for losing quite a lot of streams, as opposed to groups like Blackpink and Katseye who weren't affected. I'm not here to make an entire point about how the remove stream thing is fake or something, like yes I'm sure Spotify isn't just removing those numbers solely from BTS for shits and giggles, but I just think the general response to it by fans is odd. You have the fair route that fans are taking, where they're saying it's ironic that groups like Blackpink who are often ridiculed for 'fake' streams by Army's aren't affected. Okay, I get that, go ahead. But aside from those comments that I don't mind, there's multiple, dozen of comments simply stating that 'BTS' succes has always been fake' and how people are just now realizing it. Like what exactly is up with this weird analogy that people are suddenly making. Yes, not all their numbers are 100% true (just like most Kpop groups), but I think the sheer amount of awards, views, not to mention size of the fandom can tell you well enough that they are indeed... successful. That's it, I just think it's an odd loop fans are making submitted by /u/Due_Improvement_5699 [link] [comments]

Recently, I saw 4 groups live. Twice & katseye in lollapalooza and Blackpink & le sserafim at their concert. After seeing all 4 of them, I can confidently say that Katseye is different from your average kpop group. The energy they had on stage was electrifying. I love blackpink's songs so I was excited for the concert but except for lisa, the rest were very inconsistent. Even for Lisa, she is not a good singer, so she was struggling a bit in her solos and was relying too much on backtrack. I have heard people say that le sserafim are great performers, but I didn't feel this way from their Newark concert. I think the performance was not bad but compared to katseye, it was VERY MID. They were singing live for most of it but there was very little energy. The stage set up was lazy and there were no backup dancers. For twice, I felt like some members' mics were too low. Some were giving their 100 and some were barely putting any energy. Overall I think it was just average and not that once in a lifetime kinda experience. If yall think I am being biased, Just compare the fancams of katseye's lollapalooza performance to the fancams of all the other groups I mentioned and you will see a clear difference. Also I don't hate any of these groups and I tried to be as unbiased as possible while seeing their performances. submitted by /u/Odd_Entertainer9554 [link] [comments]

(This is probably not the right subreddit to post this but here I go anyways) Honestly, I was a bit shocked to find so many people online thinking that their name is weird. I think it’s one of the best in their generation. It sounds elegant and cute (at least to me it does) and is fun to pronounce. Andddd if they play their cards well they could end up with a really creative fandom name (What’s up with HYBE and their fandom names? 😭) BUT, I do get why people think it not being an actual acronym of COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES is weird. submitted by /u/Busy-Schedule-1407 [link] [comments]
I want to use social media so that I have a group of people to fangirl with, to talk with about my favs, but every single social media is just full of down-right hate, no matter what you do or where you go. I just wish social media wasn't so toxic all the time. It's so draining. I've been in many fandoms before (DSMP/MINECRAFT, 1D, SAM AND COLBY) but nothing has made me hate social media more than toxic kpop fans. It might not help that I stan literally probably the most hated and targeted group, too. submitted by /u/Ilovehuskies1111 [link] [comments]

Rules: • You can comment on the same idol more than once, but only the comment with the most upvotes will count. For example, if there are many comments for Idol A with 1 upvote each, but one comment for Idol B has more upvotes, then Idol B wins. • Comments that mention more than one idol will be disqualified submitted by /u/ConnectionOk8413 [link] [comments]
I went to the blackpink deadline tour recently and I thought the concert was amazing. From the dancing the singing and everything in between it was really and truly one of the best concerts I’ve been too I don’t know if it was because of nostalgia or just my love for them in general but I was just overwhelmed with happiness and the energy from the crowd (at least in my section) was amazing. I know they had a lot of discord online recently for lazy dancing and under performing but I didn’t actually see that when I went. Does anyone who attended feel the same way. submitted by /u/Global_Selection8284 [link] [comments]

Hi! First, this isn't hate, but a speculative theory based on their first year as rookies. I think KATSEYE as a concept and theme is brilliant. Their marketing is on point, but I can't be the only one here who feels a major disconnect. But, if I am...let me tell you why I feel like Katseye has a career span of 2-3 years. Theme Great! Impact?? The theme of a global girl-group is brilliant and it's soaring in market. However, let's be real, Katseye isn't true diversity and I would not peg them to be "global ambassadors." I think the regular KPOP idol is trained to be a public servant for the Republic of South Korea. That's why they are held to such a high standard. Especially with South Korea's history, KPop Idols have something to prove to the world about South Koreans, and to increase SK's soft power. Katseye is for fun, which is cool, but fun fads often die within 3 years. Also, I don't see Katseye really becoming anyone's role model. I just see a whole bunch on teenagers twerking, cussing, wearing too revealing outfits, and disordered eating to be as skinny as the members. Also, as a black girl, Manon is nowhere near my "representation." Members are disjointed. I'm not here to say they dislike each other cause I'm not in their spaces, but I can't be the only one here who thinks their relationships are a bit off. I think the normal kpop idol at least tries to appear that they like all their members, even if they don't. However, I think Katseye is clearly split into subsections. I think once they have the opportunity to do their own things, I think they will. They might keep on "_____ of Katseye" title. But I think all the members would be much happier in their own individual lanes. Inconsistencies in Performances How many times have you seen just 5 members in a Katseye performance? A lot. All KPop stans KNOW something is up when there are members missing in a performance. I know the workload of an idol is a lot. However, my theory is something is up. Outfits are too revealing for me personally Now, maybe because it's westernized, but I miss the era of safety shorts. I think most pop stars in general know that hyper sexualization is a given in the music industry, but I guess I thought HYBE/Geffen would keep clothing standards that they have in Korea. I feel like when Yoonchae turns 18, they won't be so quick to have her butt out like they do with the rest of the members. This feels grandma of me (I'm 23) but they are supposed to be making to teenagers and young adults, so it feels weird. This is just my opinion about it all. I like Katseye, but I don't think they last as long as we all think. submitted by /u/IncidentCorrect3352 [link] [comments]
