71. Beyond the Album - Moon Byul's Tea

╔══════════════╗ Today, Mamamoo member Moon Byul returns with a new mini album. I’ve been excited because I know this record is going to be another perfect project. I’ve been enjoying Moon Byul’s discography since her debut solo. Now, let’s jump into this new album from Moon Byul and see what the singer brought to the table. ╚══════════════╝ https://preview.redd.it/3f510isbz7kf1.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6727806acf48e04f39d50f7f958e32e2d76fba18 laundri - Moon Byul Cotton Cotton opens this album with a smooth vibe that blends wonderfully with Moon Byul's vocals. I love the smooth, bouncy backing track they bring to the table as they put on a sweet performance. The hook has this chill vibe that adds to the overall feeling the producers and singer bring to the table. We get a little rap in the second verse that adds to the mix, switching things up a bit before she goes back into singing. I’m glad this album opens on a chill note, as it lets the record smooth its way in. https://preview.redd.it/fvr3ejijz7kf1.jpg?width=225&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b5bbf7da51d2c8ecf5327898aeec85a11f622c2 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ 2. Goodbyes and Sad Eyes The title track of this record picks things up a bit, bringing in a pop-rock vibe that we’ve heard from Moon Byul before. I’ve always loved hearing Moon Byul on a rock-sounding tune as her voice fits perfectly with that style. The instrumental packs a punch with the guitars and percussion that blend perfectly with the singer's vocal tone. The hook has been stuck in my head since hearing it this morning, and a few times after that. It didn’t take me long to fall in love with this song as Moon Byul’s performance with a rock sound pulled me right in, and I don’t think this tune will ever stop pulling me back for more. Even though I like this tune a lot, I still find it generic, as we’ve heard songs in this style many times, but I think it’s Moon Byul’s performance that makes me like this song. https://preview.redd.it/jvv92lr008kf1.jpg?width=610&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8235824687a00f66f62915329991c2d3ee4e8c50 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ 3. Da Capo Right when Da Capo started, I thought I was listening to something out of Legend of Zelda cause of the melody. The bouncy instrumental has a playful vibe to it that fits the vocals from Moon Byul. I like the performance and sound effects used throughout the tune. The hook has a catchy nature to it, which will help this tune stick with me. We do get Moon Byul rapping in the second verse, which adds to the playfulness of the instrumental. With the track's strong melody and vocals from Moon Byul, this is another excellent tune for the singer. https://preview.redd.it/ovmk7gj908kf1.jpg?width=540&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ac3b11d499f31169c4c3e3e3f55b5c5f020923e ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Chocolate Tea Synth opens up the track, bringing in the sweet melody with some snapping percussion as Moon Byul brings in a chill vocal performance. We do get some rapping from the singer that adds to the vibe. The hook has a hint of a waltz-like melody that you can also feel in the verses. I love how vibey this tune is, as it makes my foot tap along. Moon Byul’s performance is fitting for this tune as it ties everything together perfectly. I also love the vocals during the bridge that hit before the final section of the song comes. https://preview.redd.it/xet3uvgg08kf1.jpg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2d9b98dea97704081d4d012b75ebdb3031eef1dc ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Drip For the fourth song on the album, Moon Byul goes for a boy group-sounding track, which reminds me of Dark Romance from her studio album. I find that Moon Byul fits perfectly with these Boy group-sounding tunes. One reason Moon Byul can fit with a boy group sound is that she has this natural toughness to her charisma that fits these types of tracks. The slick instrumental fits her voice like butter, as I could see ATEEZ fitting with this instrumental. The hook comes thumping into the mix as it’s been growing on me the more I hear it. The guitar during the verses adds that slick nature to the instrumental. Moon Byul does a little bit of rapping from time to time in this tune, adding to her vocal performance. The bridge hits hard as it blends wonderfully into the final hook that ends the tune. https://preview.redd.it/o9al8y4u08kf1.jpg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee410791678c66b33f1d615052a4fd19ecc7e277 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ Over You Over You brings in a guitar that blends with the sweet vocals that Moon Byul brings to the table, which is packed with emotion. The hook brings in a rock sound that we heard in the title track, but this time it’s packed with emotion. You can feel the sadness in the vocal performance from Moon Byul. In the second verse, she does a little rap that adds to the vibe the producers crafted. I do like the piano melody that we hear in the verses. I always love hearing Moon Byul in a ballad track as she gets to showcase her singing voice much better. https://preview.redd.it/8r2xifz018kf1.jpg?width=1139&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64ca640b54ef97411412b8886235a8de00402c44 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ 7. ICY BBY ICY BBY was pre-released in June with an instrumental that reminded me of something ILLIT could do. I still enjoy the glitchy effects that blend with the singer's voice. We do get some rapping from the singer that adds to the overall vibe, but one thing I will say is I haven’t listened to this tune much since it was pre-released. The hook still has been growing on me the more I hear this tune, whenever I do. I don’t fully dislike this tune, but I do find it a bit forgettable for a Moon Byul song. Now that the album is out, maybe this tune will get pulled back onto my playlist. https://preview.redd.it/z6kkshs618kf1.jpg?width=610&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3764af128dc4091b7c7774cdf95bf9ba07fa8ce0 ━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━ 아를 The album closes out on a strong note, opening up with a guitar and percussion that bring in the melody. The vocals from the singer come into the mix, blending wonderfully with the overall sound. The hook is packed with emotion as the singer provides some sweet vocal moments that work perfectly with the instrumental. Moon Byul does a bit of rapping in the second verse that adds to the vibe the producers crafted. I find this tune to close out the album wonderfully, just like how the whole record opened up. https://preview.redd.it/04jgdaeh18kf1.png?width=1140&format=png&auto=webp&s=042ebc4c814d3cd7b232234814d4e7752e9b1428 ╔══════════════╗ Summary: Moon Byul is back with a new project, one that is a nice addition to her discography. ICY BBY was pre-released in June, and while I haven’t listened to it much, I still find it a pretty decent tune for the singer. Da Capo might be my favorite track with its playful vibe that works for the singer. I find that each tune on this album plays to the strengths of Moon Byul’s vocal ability. This album is one I can’t wait ot have on repeat cause there are some killer tunes on the record. ╚══════════════╝ https://preview.redd.it/e2obr19l18kf1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=529c4069e85daee2b1725802e9de8b3cc3b44439 submitted by /u/Maltifandom23 [link] [comments]

76. Groups or soloists whose music has really good lyrics?

  • reddit.com language

I don't speak Korean, but I like reading lyric translations and finding out that a song I like has a thoughtful message, uses interesting imagery, or is even just funny or clever. I know about BTS, but what are some other groups or soloists whose songs usually have lyrics that are worth reading? submitted by /u/pussycontrolgonemad [link] [comments]

77. Should I attend one of Seventeen’s upcoming concerts?

  • reddit.com language

Hi everyone! Idk if this is the appropriate sub to ask this but here’s the thing. I’ve very slowly been getting into seventeen through primarily their content, I haven’t exactly dove into their music fully yet. I really love their group dynamics and the members are all so charismatic in their own way. I found out that some are about to go to military service soon so I’m assuming the announced concerts are before they enlist. As a fairly new fan (or barely a fan since I haven’t listened to much of their music) I was highly thinking of attending one of their shows if anything just for the vibes. I live in northern California and although they have shows in LA the most convenient show for me to go to would be in Tacoma, WA since it’s on a Saturday😅 Do you guys feel like it would be worth it for me to go as someone who’s just trying to feel them out? Since members are enlisting soon I feel like this would be my only shot to see them all together in a while. I appreciate anyone’s thoughts on this or even recommendations on their discography! 😊 submitted by /u/Fancy_Breads [link] [comments]

86. How do you see K-pop's future in the next decade?

  • 19 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Like any music genre in the past century, K-pop will hit a wall and become less popular over time. Most of the big groups will still come from big companies. And I think those companies will keep trying to squeeze as much money as they can from Western markets, since there’s not much room left for growth in Korea. What I’m curious about is what these companies will do in Korea. They're their biggest money-maker, but the core K-pop demographic is dropping off a cliff there. Maybe we’ll start seeing some groups trying to cater to older fans in the next decade? It would be fun. submitted by /u/Striking-Meal-5257 [link] [comments]

87. Who would you personally deem the “Prince of K-Pop”?

  • 19 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

The “King of K-Pop” is pretty unanimously agreed to be G-Dragon, but who would you say comes in second? Which male soloist has so much artistry, influence, and well-roundedness that you’d call him the Prince of K-Pop? I don’t think there’s any right/wrong answer to this, I just wanted to see everyone’s picks! My personal shout would probably be Taemin, he’s the Idol of Idols and no one can deny his talent and artistry. submitted by /u/Nephroku [link] [comments]
