Who are idols (or even groups) that go by multiple different nicknames or versions of their name?

Example: group: Stray Kids stage name: Bang Chan government name: Christopher Chahn Bahng (not a typo btw) most commonly used: Chan used by his friends, but also by fans sometimes: Chris cutesy nickname: Channie reserved for specific occasions by fans: Christopher (mostly stylized as CHRISTOPHER) For a group, there's the classic TVXQ/DBSK/Tohoshinki This post is half-inspired by that online phenomenon of fans talking about idols while using all kinds of different names, often not even including the group. Therefore leaving people who aren't that familiar with the idol to do detective work if they want to figure out who the commenter is talking about. (Admittedly, I've been occasionally guilty of this too, I usually just forgot.) So I thought why not collect some for informative purposes. But I'm also just interested. 103. K-Pop Girl Group Tournament (Day 47): IZ*ONE vs. Apink

  • reddit.com language

Day 46 Results: SISTAR wins by 47 votes! Vote for your favorite and as always poll closes in 24 hours! If you're unsure of who to vote for, here's a couple songs to help your decision: IZ*ONE - Panorama IZ*ONE - Violeta IZ*ONE - Vampire Apink - Dilemma Apink - NoNoNo Apink - Eung Eung First Half Second Half Disclaimer: This tournament is not a “comparison”. The seeds were randomized and I didn’t pick the matchups. The songs picked are amongst their most popular because they’re easy to recognize. If you have another song suggestion you may leave it in the comments but please refrain from complaining about the song not being included. I also try to switch up the listed songs every new round, so the songs you might not know from a group might not be listed as they were listed the previous round. Either way, feel free to recommend them in the comments if you’d like. submitted by /u/PushOffTheGround [link] [comments]

109. What happens if ADOR wins newjeans contract termination lawsuit?

  • 20 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

In newjeans most recent court hearing on August 14th (their mediation session) one of the members, I believe Danielle said that even if ADOR won the lawsuit they still wouldn’t go back to hybe… What exactly does that mean? If ADOR wins the lawsuit can they not just, for lack of better words, “make them work?” If they lose this case are they just going to rot in ADOR’s basement by choice? Will ADOR have to let them even if the contract is ruled to be valid? I honestly thought if ADOR won the case newjeans would have to continue as a group under ADOR. I didn’t even think it was a possibility that they’d get the choice to stop promoting all together. submitted by /u/sunnielana [link] [comments]

115. Kpop idols main attraction point being their innocence is very strange to me.

  • 22 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Note: I am not a consumer of Kpop to the point where Im a fan but ive watched some of it. This is only for some specific groups. Back in 2022, I was close with someone who loved K-pop, especially BTS. I get that cuteness culture is common and is js a certain aspect to Kpop. However, I think in any severity, it is very strange. Male K-pop idols are often molded to appear soft, innocent, and childlike to the point where it gets weird asf. And its normalised. On the more severe side, They’re given pet names, expected to maintain a pure image, and face backlash for doing normal adult things like vaping or dating. Goes deeper than that when many fans push romantic or sexual narratives between idols, often shipping them where one is submissive or feminized, usually tied to stereotypes about Asian men. It connects to a strange docility that Western culture puts on Asia, like its all so kawaii or smth. Even if ur someone who innocently enjoys their cuteness and innocence, do you not think: Wow, the main attraction point to this men is that they act like little boys. The same ppl, who get mad at the Western industry, for continuing this “school girl” costume vibes seen in Pop. Then we get into young 14-16 year old..even 18 year old boys and girls debuting. Hell to the no. submitted by /u/Wonderful-Freedom488 [link] [comments]

118. A question about Jin's role as the eldest member!

  • 23 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hello everyone, I've been enjoying so much of BTS's content and I'm really curious about the group's dynamics. I know that Jin, as the eldest 'Hyung', often has a big responsibility. I was wondering if the members have ever talked about a time when Jin had to give them a serious piece of advice, or when he had to 'call them out' on something in a tough but loving way? I'm not looking for anything negative, just genuine stories that show their brotherly bond and how they support each other. If you know of any specific moments or quotes from the members, please share! Thanks for your help! submitted by /u/StrictPrize2040 [link] [comments]

121. Seventeen are almost always 'ignored' in kcontent

  • 23 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I am not a very big seventeen fan , but I still prefer their vocals, music writing and content over other big groups... Since 2022 And I follow a lot of kpop pages and channels since a decade ...I have never really seen svt 'mentioned' anywhere. Accounts dedicated to kpop content (all groups included) ignore svt all the time... When it comes to good vocal groups I have seen all kinda groups there but never svt, popular k contents, svt is not there, stuff Abt dancing, svt is absent... There is never any mention of svt anywhere...even in funny memes, svt is never mentioned even though they are literally comedians with so many memes... Like maybe people just don't consider them kpop or maybe they are present on asian accounts but the kind of content I watch never mention svt ... They are very rare in kpop...barely there.. And only carat accounts post their stuff or talk about them **I am not saying that they are underrated but they are just never mentioned anywhere, if you are new to kpop, you won't see them anywhere,u have to search them up to actually find them.. I feel like they are not kpop but just svt... submitted by /u/Impossible_Bowl_918 [link] [comments]
