Their physical album sales are still surprisingly low, just around 10,000 copies, despite strong digital chart performance. Is this because a limited physical release? Or their fanbase is still relatively small, also there's no ‘company stan’ backing them? And probably digital platforms, doesn’t always translate to physical sales? submitted by /u/matt_vaghn [link] [comments]

I’m sorry I didn’t mean it in a bad way. I was just curious pls don’t hate me 😅 There is a new group THAT HASN’T DEBUTED YET. This new group posted a new intro mv on x, and yet there are moas qrt accusing them of copying txt, and are talking about artistry of the work.. when both txt and this new group’s intro vid have the same creative director..? they say they aren’t hating on the group but they are hating on the company. I’m not sure what to think abt this? any thoughts? submitted by /u/cacaisheereeere [link] [comments]

https://youtu.be/UPoS4-MrYXc?si=WZwIXc4kLtQTms8P They are not k-pop, but the song is worth listening to. It is an unusual experiment. submitted by /u/Efficient_Summer [link] [comments]
Sure, asia is currently going off in the LGBT rights manner, however, this has not yet reached South Korea. Albeit there have been idols coming out as part of the community, there is a line in where an idol's identity is unknown, and this is where we reach a point of invasive behavior towards other human being. Sure, there might be things in kpop which are not entirely straight like songs, concept or even people, that is most likely not the case due to South Korea's unbroken conservative nature. Take Katseye, for example. Lara Raj came out of the closet at her own time and by her own choice, however, another member, Daniela, had to clarify that she was not part of the community, because of the constant pressure towards her and pairing with other group members. This is the previoulsy memtioned line where fans are invasive. There has been another member who is part of the LGBTQ community, Megan, whose coming was forced, though celebrated. Of course, who knows how many idols have not yet revealed their identity, and with South Korea's views, they are more likely not to do so, so please, give idols their privacy and respect their identity, who, shockingly for some people, can be heterosexual. I'm not putting any blame on manhwas or dramas, as they are works of fiction and fiction needs to be separated from reality, but it is really imperative to take note of where is somebody else's privacy being violated. submitted by /u/ratonvacilon23 [link] [comments]

Totally random thought, but I was watching some award shows and realized how different idols can sound in different languages. The two examples I would like to point out is how Rei is really able to lean into the cuteness and actually sounds better imo in Korean than Japanese. But then for Ningning, Korean doesn't really seem to fit her well. When I heard her at an award show speaking Chinese for the first time I was blown away by how much she sounds like a boss! I'm curious about others opinions on idols they like! submitted by /u/SpecSlayerSC [link] [comments]
As most may have heard, the Stray kids Dominate tour stop at Washington DC unfortunately coincided with a heatwave and despite the warning a week ahead, the venue and its staff were seemingly unprepared and were apparently even neglectful and exploitative. It even got to a point that Skz themselves were handing out their own water to Stays in the pit. I also wanted to highlight Bang Chan’s leadership in such a stressful moment and the amount of genuine care and concern he showed for Stays when no one else had. He always made sure to check up on them and in light of the recent Astroworld documentary and survivors sharing their experiences, it really puts into perspective what kind of artists Chan and Skz as a whole are. I have endless respect for him and I just can’t fathom how anyone could hate this man. He is one of the best examples of ‘we made the right person famous’ because he deserves every ounce of success he has and so much more. submitted by /u/SomewhereOnEarth37 [link] [comments]
I just finished I-Land and i really enjoyed it, i am wondering if there are any other survival shows that are worth watching. I was considering watching the Stray Kids show or &Audition since I am familiar with some of the idols through I-Land, but I saw a lot of mixed opinions. What do you think? submitted by /u/RelevantMind1 [link] [comments]
As someone who grew up watching Violet Evergarden and Studio Ghibli this song takes me back to the feeling of watching them for the first time. Something about the song is so freeing and nostalgic. If anyone knows of any songs similar to it please recommend because I can’t stop listening to it. submitted by /u/Heavy_Level7944 [link] [comments]

I've been into K-pop since 2020, so I've seen my fair share of debuts. As life got in the way, I've been taking some time away from K-pop for the last two years, and I've only been loosely following my favorite groups. But ever since Hearts2Hearts' debut, I've just been pulled back into this universe. Their debut song, The Chase, has this je-ne-sais-quoi that got me hooked since the first note. And their b-sides, Butterfly, is so dreamy and beautiful! I think I watched all of their stages from their debut era. I love seing the girls perform. I know some people had reservations about their voices and vocal abilities, which I can understand given that it's a SM group we are talking about, but it's not something that really bothers me. They just debuted, and I'm sure they will prove to their fans and the general public what they are really able to do in the coming months/years. From what I've seen so far, they can all hold their own on stage. Their dance is so clean, it's amazing for a big group! I'm hypnotized every time I put on one of their dance practices. And some of the girls, especially Ian and Jiwoo, have really good stage presence! As it is easier with recently-debuted groups, I've been able to follow their other contents, and they have lovely personalities. I love the way how they banter and joke with each other ever since their first videos, it's nice to see a newly-debuted group with good chemistry. But because they are all so fun, I just can't pick a bias 😭 Now that they just had a comeback, Style (which is really good and fun!), I can't wait to see what the future holds for them. I hope SM will be able to maintain their sound (I'd love to have more Butterfly-like songs), and I'm looking forward to their end-of-the-year stages (and maybe an award, who knows?). submitted by /u/coraelie [link] [comments]
Ever since the hallyu wave + the rise of kpop groups from 2016. We can clearly see in recent years how the rapid increase of idol groups debuting has become. I've noticed in recent years how the entertainment companys are constantly debuting new groups but they are forgotten after few years and get less and less promo. submitted by /u/shadow_scar1122 [link] [comments]
