ITS IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE “they all look like girls/ they all look the same” NO THEY FRICKING DONT. if you actaully cared to look at their faces and see the differences, you wouldn’t think that. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. I was on ticketmaster and saw that riize were going on tour and out of curiosity checked what the ticket situation looked like for some of their north american stops and despite being small venues a lot of tickets were still available. I know in general this year has been pretty rough for kpop concert sales and even bigger groups like txt were struggling to fill out some of their venues but considering this is riize's first tour in the US and the venues are not arenas I was shocked to see so many unsold seats. I used to follow them pretty closely during their debut era up till maybe impossible and then gradually lost interest once i realized how sm was handling the seunghan situation and ik they lost a significant amount of their western fanbase because of it but i was wondering since it has been a while since he left if theyve been able to rebuild some of that fanbase? This is just my rant and confusion towards kpop fans, many of them being Wonyoung stans, insistently posting Wonyoung's Side to Side cover. Wonyoung has so many viral and iconic stages and within Produce48 itself, you have her extremely iconic Very Very Very stage, which is not only age appropriate but was the performance that solidified her stage presence and showed she was center material. However, to this day, I see people constantly posting and praising her Side to Side cover on Youtube Shorts, Tiktok, or on Twitter/X and when people call them out, they always have some bs excuse about how theyre just focusing on her stage presence. Her Side to Side performance is disgusting. She was 13 years old and they had her singing and dancing to a song about having rough sex that has you walking side to side. It has been a while since I watched Prod48 but I remember that another team also had a somewhat sexy song but once the leader of the team realized there were minors on her team, she changed it to a more cute, poppy concept so its not like the concept of not sexualizing minors was not a thing. However, the adults around Wonyoung failed her and this cover is a very disgusting example of the kpop industry's sexualization of minors. I am just a year older than Wonyoung and I remember when this cover came out, there was a lot of backlash from international fans being disappointed in Mnet for this but I will admit that I watched the show and everyone was complimenting her in the performance and her team literally won and Wonyoung just seemed cool. Now when I look back on it, especially having seen her grown up alongside me, its so obvious she is a little kid trying to act sexy and I cant believe this was allowed to happen. How did no one find this cringe? For any Dance Mom fans, a similar thing happened with the "Maddie face." Abby was always glazing it and you'd see Maddie always winning so everyone grew up thinking it was peak acting just for us to finally grow up and realize how dumb it looked. While I think it worked for dance, I remember watching a Maddie interview/live a while back where Maddie said she was super embarassed by it. Not to mention all the sexualization of minors that happened on that show as well that didnt click until I grew up. How those moms let their daughters do some of those dances is beyond me but this isnt the Dance Mom's subreddit so I digress. Also ignoring the whole sexualization of minors part, it's just a very odd performance. Its supposed to be a sexy, sultry song but its performed more like a girlboss girl crush song because the members dont know how to execute the sexy choreography any other way, with some extremely random acrobatic moves from one of the members. I'll admit I thought the acrobatic moves were cool back then but now looking at it, its just so random. Wonyoung recently did a cover with Jinusean where she has a more mature concept but was literally just standing, walking, and singing and compared to her Side to Side cover where they have her trying her hardest to seem mature, singing lyrics about sex and doing sexy choreography, the Jinusean cover blows her Side to Side cover out of the park. Seeing her as an adult with a mature concept that comes naturally, it really just puts into perspective how inappropriate and ridiculous her Side to Side cover was. To conclude, I hate that people still post her Aide to Side cover. I saw this post on another kpop subreddit and felt the need to voice that "just because an idol promotes a certain brand does not mean they agree with everything the brand stands for" Is it really that hard to understand that Taehyung promotes Coca Cola because its the most popular soft drink in the world and hes being paid millions to do it? You think he’s sitting there doing ethical case studies on Coca Cola’s labor history? Yall really think he thought about whatever stuff the company supports before signing, no?? he signed because theyre the most popular drink company are you stupid?? Mark promoting Mcdonalds because its the most popular fast food restaurant in the world? Promotion ≠ personal alignment with everything the brand has ever done. Gdragon and jungkook are kinda undefendable but again, just because someone took a small portion of what someone said and agreed with it, DOES NOT mean they agree with EVERYTHING that an individual endorses? Is it that hard to understand?? This weird expectation that idols must be moral philosophers, political activists, and PR perfectionists 24/7 while also being criticized for “being too scripted and fake” is exhausting. You can criticize questionable choices — that’s fair — but acting like they’ve aligned themselves with every controversy tied to a multinational corporation is just intellectually lazy. Some counterarguments: “Idols have influence so they must be responsible!” Most brand deals aren’t deep ethical partnerships — they’re transactional. An idol signs because it’s good exposure and part of the job, not because they’ve sat down and aligned themselves with the company’s full political history. Expecting every idol to do moral background checks on every product they touch is unrealistic when even the loudest critics still consume these same brands privately. They’re not activists. They’re entertainers doing business. “But they’re rich — they can afford to refuse!” That assumes they even care enough about the company’s ethics to refuse. Most don’t. Not because they’re evil — but because they’re detached from Western discourse and corporate scandals that fans obsess over online. To them, Coke and McDonald’s aren’t “controversial brands” — they’re just global household names. Acting like endorsing them is some grand moral statement is projecting our politics onto people who likely never made that connection. They didn’t choose the brand to make a statement. Ok basically you know those performances where an idol looks/gets really angry on stage as if they’re putting all their raw emotion into it? For example Jimin from BTS growling “FAKE LOVE!” in one of the performances really.. that insane passion you know?? the ANGER And HOSHI from SEVENTEEN basically screams every chance he gets lol it’s like all the energy and passion just explodes on stage (he literally also said, in one of their behind the scenes, something like that his blood boils before going on stage and that it explodes on stage... wow.) I'm looking for other performances where boy group idols had that fierce performance as if it's their last performance kind of stage presence!
