I recently deactivated my main account on X because kpop spaces just wore me out and I needed a break from social media to focus on personal things. I rarely get into fan wars and avoid it as much as I can but this specific thing that engenes did just baffled me so much, I'm in shock. This all just unfolded a few hours ago and basically it was revealed that there is a gc that a group of engenes are in where they've created set up accounts pretending to be moas and they basically start/join fanwars and start spewing hate towards any group they come accross. I checked one before they deactivated and saw them picking a fight with a stay and basically comparing txt and skz. Apparently they've also picked fights with blinks and fellow engenes (which is crazy). The accounts are deactivated now but it might come back once the issue dies down. Moas and engenes have been in an ongoing feud for the past few weeks and I've been silently seeing everything unfold on my priv. Obviously I'm more on the txt side of the space and am seeing things in that perspective, but I do not condone nor have I ever joined when fanwars go overboard and start attacking the idols themselves nor do I go in insane lengths like this. I'm new to reddit so idk how to attach photos/links but @/beomangle5 and @/yeonbinhub on X have posted screenshots and tagged the engenes and the setup accounts they made. I'm just so baffled and shocked that a fandom would go this far to tarnish another group's name like that. I've been into kpop for more than a decade and this is my first time seeing a fandom go this far. Is this normal for other fandoms? Have you guys experienced this before as well? Do let me know because why is this a thing if so :<... submitted by /u/National_Regret_7896 [link] [comments]

Am I wrong? Every time I see one of those ''vote for your favourite idol'' game, TWICE members always wins lol. Not that I am complaining or anything, because I absolutely ADORE Twice! I just love to see that a K-pop community loves them as much as I do. submitted by /u/Ilovehuskies1111 [link] [comments]

Hello! Recently, I’ve been searching for songs outside of the K-pop genre. For most of the time, I only listened to K-pop idol groups and Korean hip-hop, so I wanted to explore different artists. That’s how I discovered WOODZ. In my opinion, he’s really talented, even though he comes from a K-pop background. What I like about him is that he experiments with many genres like rock, indie, and R&B. I also started checking out other artists such as Hyukoh, Heize, Dean, Parannoul, and more. My question is: since I’m not Korean, I’m curious about what Korean youth usually listen to. Which artists or genres are popular among them? From what I’ve heard, K-pop seems to be more popular among Korean girls, but what about boys? I’d love to hear your insights to satisfy my curiosity! submitted by /u/Adorable_Dot_5152 [link] [comments]

I’ve been a K-pop stan since 2017 and honestly… I feel like I’m in a weird phase right now. I still am a fan, but I just don’t feel the same enthusiasm anymore. Back then, I’d get so hyped for every comeback. I’d literally sit 30 minutes before an MV dropped, refreshing and waiting. Now..Half the time, I don’t even realize when a group I follow has put out an album or EP. I also used to watch their content every day and enjoy it so much. But nowadays, whenever I try, it just feels… manufactured? Like when they do the cute or silly moments, I feel like i can see right through it or idk it just doesn’t feel genuine to me anymore. Even the music feels different to me now. Songs with messages about feminism, mental health, working hard, etc...I used to love those and maybe to some extend feel pride/proud of my favs.. like “wow my faves are speaking up about this or they are talking about it” . But now when I listen, my first thought is, “do they even believe this themselves, or is it just the company/lyricist building an image for us to eat up?” And again, I don’t even blame the idols or their labels...it's on me and a me problem.... the things I could enjoy before just don’t hit the same now or can't enjoy it/see it like i used to back then. I used to laugh so much and have fun watching kpop content on yt (for example - if an idol struggled with something silly like...idk...stuggling to cut a vegetable etc). It used to feel silly and funny. Now it just feels so staged, plastic and I get thrown off. I really wish I could enjoy K-pop the way I used to back then. Does anyone else feel this way? submitted by /u/Alternative-Pop-6280 [link] [comments]
Hello, this is a summary of data of the big4 5th Gen boy groups. I looked at data from Circle Charts, Spotify (the app and Qworb), Melon, Line, QQ music and YouTube *The Big4 in this case refers to Hybe, SM, Wakeone (As ZB1 sales stand up to up with the HYBE and SM groups) and JYP (I’ve included JYP even though numerically their numbers are the weakest of the 4 they are legacy big 3 so they are part the convo) (YG is excluded as well there is no boy group - do we know if ones coming?) (Additionally Cortis can’t be ranked quite yet as their first album is not out fully yet but I did spot one thing) All numbers are rounded to nearest hundred thousand (eaxample 1.1M 1,100,000 or 600k for 600,000) unless specified otherwise Rankings Spotify: Overall Spotify number recap: Rank by Total Streams (NEXZ data is Unavailable on Kworb) (31/08/25): 1. So for example I really love the cover for BIBI's Eve : Romance on all the streaming platforms but I'm a little sad that this beautiful cover didn't make it as the cover for the physical release. (Same goes for Kiss of Life's Lose yourself) On the other hand I really love the physical cover for Purple Kiss' memeM or Loossemble's One of a kind but their digital album covers on streaming platforms look kinda bland or had me shook cause I was thinking we're getting at least something similar like the physical versions with the members on it What are your examples? submitted by /u/vdrawer [link] [comments]
This is a joke. There’s two axis, volatility and opinionatedness. These two axis make four quadrants and these four quadrants make your four types of Kpop fan. Low volatility, low opinionatedness: A quadrants exclusively made up of new heads not yet corrupted by the toxic kpop environment. They have not interacted with enough people to start building negative impressions and aversions to certain groups and just take everything at face value and enjoy what they find for what it is. Will move out of this quadrant within a year. High volatility, low opinionatedness: Almost always ults one group and doesn’t care about other groups. If you speak to them, they won’t have much to say aside from getting you to give their ultimate group a 32nd try in case you didn’t quite get them after you 31st previous introductions to them. These people are harmless and are typically friend having people but their obsession is at unhealthy levels which you will find out if you say something negative about their ult group. Then you will be hit by volleys of personal attacks and condemnations. Low volatility, high opinionatedness: Doesn’t like group A, B, C, D or W, X, Y or Z. They like group L, M, N and O and P is alright but the fan base is cringe. They can dish it but they can’t take it. They spend all their time promoting their favs by comparing them to groups and idols they consider inferior and overrated. Any sort of contradiction to the thing they say and they act above it all. They’re simply too enlightened to have to address anything that challenges what they say. This person has friends but they definitely don’t like kpop. They exclusively talk kpop to a well vetted echo chamber of their own creation and will never have to look a kpop fan in the eyes when they talk to them about their shared hobby. High volatility, high opinionatedness: Let’s not be delusional, this is where’s most kpop fans live. “Fans of A group are killing Kpop, fans of C group? Jeez, they’re killing kpop I hate them and their group for sure. Kpop wouldn’t even matter if not for Group B. This is the only group with talent. And their success is admirable while group A’s success is fraudulent and group C’s is just circumstantial. Group B has the most beautiful members while group A has plastic, fake looking dolls and group C is just unfortunate looking. How are they even idols? Honestly in group B member A is the real talent and real beauty and they’d be better solo. I hate member B fans always acting hard done by when they’re just not as good and member C needs to stop sabotaging the group by focusing just on themself and their solo activities. What? You agree with 99.9% with what I said? How dare you disagree with me, how dare you even talk to me? Who even asked you? I can’t believe you acted so cool only to go mask off like that you creep. Leave kpop and go do something else.” This person naturally has no friends in real life and only talks to the few dozen people who share their hyper specific list of opinions while waging war nonstop on the rest of the kpop space for not holding their opinions. submitted by /u/Beginning-Bad2979 [link] [comments]
This is genuinely the dumbest thing people here say… We’re just out here assuming everyone’s stances because of what the stupid majority of other fandoms are doing?? Also, just because others haven’t been held accountable for doing horrible things, that means we now just excuse everyone who does it and we let it become normalized??? Change has to start somewhere babes. I’m sorry that I’m not sorry if that start is your fave group. submitted by /u/Mediocre_Quote4055 [link] [comments]

I'm not that big into BTS anymore - sure, I'm active on ARMY forums and I will defend them if needs be, but I wouldn't say I'm a massive fan of the group. But if there's one member I DO love it's Yoongi. Yoongi is someone I, in particular, can relate to - I've been depressed most of my life, struggling with a difficult home and school life which led me to become depressed. When I got into K-Pop and looked deeper into their songs, I found Yoongi's solo work and realised that we're actually very similar. Another thing is I can tell, at the very least, he's got a good heart: particuarly through his philanthropy and his actions as a whole - he's putting his position to good use, which was shown in his volunteering with helping neurodivergent children and using music to help others. Another thing I love is his rapping - call me biased, but he's one of the best K-Pop rappers to date, from his wordplay, to his flow, to his general lyricism he's a 10 across the board: he has an amazing discography full of different topics for different things, so if you don't like one song: you're sure to like another. Nobody has been able to top him in that regard. Whenever I meet someone, mainly someone who isn't a BTS fan, they usually have nothing negative to say about Yoongi or Jin. Sure, he's had the odd few scandals (his biggest being the incident last August), but compared to other idols, he's relatively unproblematic— atleast from what I've seen of him. I think we should all learn to love this kitty and his work. Live, laugh, love Min Yoongi. submitted by /u/Calm-Comfortable2659 [link] [comments]
Purple kiss' recent album release, which is also gonna be their last, put me into thoughts about their disbandment and the current state of rbw. Purki meant a lot to me so I'm sad it came to this. It looks like rbw really lucked out with mamamoo and had no plans on what they're gonna do after the group ran its course and the members inevitably wanted to try out solo activities. They relied on them until the last moment. Their strategy to distance themselves from mamamoo financially didn't work because of many bad choices. With purle kiss (at least to me,as an ex fan)it looks like they went for a group with the same amount of talent as mamamoo but a completely different artistic direction to differentiate themselves from them. Purple kiss started out with a whichy/horror kind of concept but they didn't stick with it for long as they constantly switched between that and a softer concept and sound. I know their concept doesn't have a board appeal but if rbw played their cards right they could have found their niche and built steady careers like dreamcatcher. Couple that with the influx of high profile debuts and comebacks in 2022 that inevitably overshadowed smaller artists and I think these are the main reasons purple kiss ended up where they are. They did gain momentum outside of the fandom in the past, for example with zombine and sweet juice but rbw didn't capitalize on it and let it go. It looks like they really don't know how to find their next money makers and this is why they are remodeling their system again, thus disbanding purple kiss. It's a way to cut their losses, just like a retail store lays off employees to cut costs. At least they're giving them a propel farewell and the disbandment seems to be in agreement with the members submitted by /u/Alive-Pitch-9180 [link] [comments]
