Ok so I know my example isnโt Kpop but Katseye, but itโs literally the same thing Iโve seen over and over with Kpop idols too. Fans have this thing where they forget idols actually have lives outside of what we see, and then they justโฆ start making stuff up to fill the gaps. The one that got me so bad it triggered me to post this (lol) was a video of Katseye arriving in Korea in their tracksuits. Lara walks by the camera looking, in my opinion, completely chill and normal. But of course, some people just had to say something about her โoffstandish attitudeโ (which is ridiculous btw). Then I saw this comment saying: โfor the people in the comments wondering why Lara looks mad, itโs because she was still worried about Manon fainting after they pranked her on live yesterday.โ Like??? Hello??? How are you pulling a full emotional diagnosis out of a THREE second clip of her literally just walking?? She looked fine. Normal. Yโall acting like you can read her entire brain through a .5 second eye twitch. This is the thing thoughโpeople take these little crumbs and spin them into full-on soap operas. Two idols donโt sit next to each other one time and suddenly theyโve got โtension.โ Someone doesnโt smile as wide and suddenly thereโs โtrouble in the group.โ Itโs not that deep. Youโre not uncovering some hidden truth, youโre just projecting whatever story you want onto them. These idols have lives outside of the 1 hour live a week that may make you think you know them better than you really do. And yeah maybe itโs mostly younger fans doing it, but letโs be real: there are grown adults out here playing pretend detective too. At some point youโve gotta accept that idols donโt exist for you to analyze like fictional characters. Theyโre actual people living actual lives, and shocker โ we donโt get to know every single detail of it. Sometimes a tired face is just a tired face. (also I know my post may sound like a generalization, so yes I know this is a very small minority of Kpop fans (and fans in general) that do this, if this doesn't apply to you, you shouldn't feel offended) submitted by /u/Due_Improvement_5699 [link] [comments]
