Hey folks! Over in r/kpop we just posted a new special Town Hall that is focused only on the Flairs we use to help organize our posts based on content categories. Link to r/kpop's 'All About Flairs' Town Hall We included announcements for new flairs here on r/kpoppers and also on r/kpophelp. The following is the section relevant for this subreddit. NEW FLAIRS! Connect - This flair will be used for anything where fans are trying to socially connect with each other. Announcing new K-Pop subreddits or Discords, looking for mutual fans on social media, wanting to meet up at a concert, seeking fans in a region to form a dance group, networking for a fan project, announcing a K-Pop night at a club, etc. Research - Academic surveys related to K-Pop or fandom topics. We'll keep an eye on these new flairs to see if they create any confusion or need adjustments. I remember when they debuted, a lot of people (including me) said the song was weak and kinda boring. I honestly thought their debut was underwhelming. But then I saw a post about 2025 Spotify streams and ‘The Chase’ is pulling really solid numbers (??). Plus it’s still hanging around in MelOn’s Top 100 daily chart, which surprised me. Gooning to Mingyu's CK ad videos that just got released, and then thought of his house track he also just released a couple months ago, Shake It Off. I was like goddamn; the 2 little vids they did could've featured his solo and it would've meshed perfectly given the aesthetic and vibe of the videos. So it got me wondering, why don't companies use a kpop idol's tracks for their ads like CK's videos? They're obviously paying to bet on that idol's prestige and image to sell their product; wouldn't it make sense to do the whole package and use any of the idol's works too if it fits? Same thing with GAP and Katseye's denim ads video. They featured another song instead but couldn't they have used a track from Katseye? And then why do some companies just outright create their own song when contracting idol's for promotions (re: pepsi's ad collab with Rain/Brave Girls/Monsta X/Ateez)? I feel like Bighit should've just released What You Want from the get go rather than having it come in succession to Go, especially because only What You Want will be able to be listened to on streaming platforms like Spotify and YT Music prior to the release of Cortis' entire debut EP in September. I saw Rei Ami made a Saja diss rap using lyrics fans gave her over two livestreams. It’s tighter than what I got. But I do crazy punchlines, overly aggressive like the raps I did from Jennie, Jessi, and Doechii’s POVs. It’s not perfect, I tried, 2 days and a lot of bars.
