Hi, so recently Iâve been seeing a lot of TikTok videos where K-pop fans are hating on groups for singing about things like money, magical girl concepts, etc. Examples include Allday being criticized for their song about being rich and famous, with people saying it's insensitive because others are struggling to find jobs. Another example is illit, who are being judged for having a magical girl concept, with some saying it's not "groundbreaking" enough. My question is: why are Western fans getting mad at K-pop groups for putting out this kind of music, but not at Western artists who do the same thing? Is it just me, or are we unfairly criticizing K-pop groups for singing about these topics? Iâm honestly just confused. Personally, I donât think itâs fair. I see K-pop on the same level as Western musicâthere are different genres and styles, and if you donât like something, just donât listen or comment. Donât expect them to change just to fit your taste. Example like Drake and Taylor Swift are going to have different styles and I viewed it the same as groups like illit, Allday, TWICE, or BLACKPINK. No song is inherently badâit all comes down to personal taste. For example, some people think âGnarlyâ is bad, while others enjoy it. At the end of the day, itâs subjective. submitted by /u/whyx_notx [link] [comments]
wayv's new album teaser (today) xdinary heroes' junhan this week ALLDAY Tarzzan (right) yesterday you'd think companies, with so many trying to build fanbases in the west, would at least give it a rest for a bit after the KIOF live and general n-word train going around in March, but no, this week is another part of the never ending series of kpop companies/idols making themselves look foolish to black kpop fans, the general western public, and pretty much everyone who understands how this is disrespectful. submitted by /u/Interesting-Cycle381 [link] [comments]
The girls are genuinely so lovely it kinda hurts to see that they've noticed their careers wavering for nearly 3 years when they deserve so much more. It's not about the music anymore, they've just lost gp interest. If it WAS about music, they would have gained a million times more popularity during untouchable's promotion when they released born to be because everyone wanted Wannabe 2.0 and untouchable was literally that. They also got None of my business in 2023 when people were drooling over relaxing, summer vibe songs. They got Mr. Vampire with focus on vocals which is what so many people were asking Itzy to focus on. They got Born to Be, which gave them a chance to show off their dance skills, which is what people were saying the girls were lacking with previous releases. But it was all slept on and ignored. I swear imaginary friend received so much love, but for some reason it wasn't very successful? And even though people disliked GWBG, they promoted Kiss and Tell (a song very reminiscent of their viral song, 'shoot') but that got barely anyone's attention despite being the kind of song a lot of people actually claim to want from them lol However, I think the biggest problem of Itzy is actually MIDZYS. One of their producers got annoyed on instagram because of people's divisions on what they want from the girls. Midzys are divided on the type of songs they want Itzy to have (upbeat and bright, badass or mature). Itzy always end up promoting a billion songs (hyperbole, it's usually only 2 lmao) on music shows every comeback with different styles. (NOMB/CAKE, MR.VAMPIRE/BTB/UNTOUCHABLE, GOLD/IMAGINARY FRIEND, GWBG/KISS AND TELL). Basically, Itzy can never win as the gp AND 'fans' will shit on their songs either way and it pressurises both the next producers and the girls themselves to decide on a titletrack. Iirc, Itzy went through 55 choices before settling on GWBG. Sorry for the rant, but it hurts seeing my ults of nearly 7 years being treated like dust when they clearly try so hard and have never slacked off a DAY in their career đ submitted by /u/Gold_Meaning3688 [link] [comments]

100% ragebait. Now that I have your attention............ The correct title: Baekhyun is an amazing singer, exactly who he thinks he is, with one of the best solo discographies ever and YOU, yes you, need to listen to him Oh you thought this was the place for you to trashtalkđđ??- You thought wrongđđ Forgive me for startling you, I was just putting into use, the language I learn from being chronically online e.g 100% ragebaitđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł AS FOR WHY WE ARE HERE ............To express my admiration for baekhyun's music and voice and to introduce it willing and unwilling listenersđ©đ©đ©đ©đ© Search bar: A time baekhyun failed to deliver Result: Error message, no result for this input BECAUSE HE HAS NEVER FAILED TO DELLIVERRR!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is some anonymous human being convincing you to listen to one of the best solo discographies ever, I mean we already take in lies on the internet on a daily basis, so why not take in some truth?đđđ You might know Baekhyun from his most famous songs, Arguably 1. Bambi 2. Cry for love If you already know these songs...THAT'S AMAZINGđ !!!!!!!!!!!. If you don't, well, take those two as your first introduction But why stop there???, Don't stop, lemme recommend you some more 3. All I got(the high notes are everything) 4. Ice queenđđ-This song evokes something in me 5. Woo 6. Elevator (A recent release that absolutely slaps) 7. Underwater (the most alluring first verse I have ever heard) 8. Betcha(This is a more lighthearted and fun track) 9. Candy 10. Rendezvous I'm confident, hmmm, I'm super hopeful that the probability of you liking at least 1 out of these 10 songs might be a 100%. I just recommended the ones I'm knee deep, you will find more amazing songs in his discography and he will continue to release great songs over time Before I go......I have one more song to recommend!!! -PINEAPPLE SLICE When I first heard the title, I was like well dammn, how is this going to be incorporated into the song as a lyricđ€, but once again he didn't fail to deliverđ©đ©. One of my faves Baekhyun's music is literally yearning.đ© It's so blatant that he makes it to almost every edit video I see on tiktok with a caption like "Kpop, but it's men yearning". He gave birth to his son Jaehyun from NCTđ©, but that's a discussion for another day Peace out folks!..sorry for startling you once again submitted by /u/Muted_Bodybuilder109 [link] [comments]
Seeing Soyeon and her career trajectory, I see why itâs so rare to see producer-idols. Before they blew up with Tomboy and became more in demand, i-dleâs music was some of the best of their generation. I genuinely believe the newfound fame, excessive tour schedules (3 world tours in a row AND the Jingle Ball tour) along with the demand for i-dle to attend music festivals, award shows, etc have caused Soyeonâs artistry to take a hit. Itâs not that she isnât good at what she does. She simply does not have the time OR environment to make the music she wants. When youâre always on the road and rehearsing for concerts and performances, when do you have to downtime to sit, think, and make music from the heart? In a recent interview, Soyeon mentioned how she wished she had more time to create âWe areâ and âGood Thingâ because she felt she did not have enough time to flesh out her vision and looking back on these past few years I can see that being a problem. Most singer-song writers take years to release new work but due to how fast-paced the Korean music industry is, idol producers are expected to churn out multiple songs and albums a year and itâs just not feasible for them as creatives. This leads to mediocre songs, half-assed concepts, and idols not being proud of their work. Now, Iâm even more worried for Soyeon because on top of her idol activities and producing for i-dle, sheâs also producing for Baby Donât Cry. Iâm surprised she isnât burnt out by now or at least suffering from writerâs block. Sheâs very hungry and is always ready to dive into her work, but I think she for sure needs to take more time to make the music and concepts she wants. She makes it known that she basically runs Cube, but I feel sheâs running herself ragged to keep fans, executives, and investors happy. submitted by /u/valonvenus [link] [comments]
I have been a fan of The Boyz since 2017 and seen them live twice. I have seen a lot fans move on already, but this obviously this is not a regular case of a member getting kicked out. The involvement of the company and the media, plus Haknyeonâs willingness to fight made me want to look deeper into his hunch that this was a setup. (I am sure more information will be revealed during legal proceedings but that will take a long time, so for now I want to organize my thoughts. And I donât mean to spread any misinformation, so let me know if youâve understood anything differently.) TenAsia reported by Choi Ji Ye The first article (and the only one that firsthand directly alleged prostitution) was published before Shushun and before any clarifying company statement confirming official reason for termination. It set the precedent of a lot following articles (which either refer back to this article as the original source or more vaguely "other media outlets"). It claims multiple insiders shared details about seeing solicitation happen, existence of irrefutable evidence, and alleges Haknyeon admitting it himself later. Who are these insiders? Strangers who either firsthand or secondhand observed these events but rather than report to relevant authorities tattled to TenAsiaâŠ? Could be Japanese citizens who donât have a connection to Korean police, but Shushun and TenAsia's allegations don't match at all The insiders are connected to the company but rather than report to relevant authorities they tattled to TenAsia⊠or they made it up The reporter made it ALL up. Not ostensibly her personal speculation since she refers to multiple third parties My thoughts: Because this was published before Shushun revealed anything, somebody from the company either prematurely or irresponsibly shared this exclusive story to CJY to set the scene of Haknyeon being an unreliable character. There are so many details to individually verify; by creating any doubt the damage is done. Ironically the article's specificity makes me think it could have only come from someone who had personal gain in his downfall, instead of a bystander who genuinely believes they observed a crime. The reporter (CJY) also is someone who has had an exclusive interview with 100REDâs current CEO so they do have an existing relationship. It would be a good legal cover for CJY if she was "just reporting on what she was told" by someone else. I hope she has to verify the insiders' credibility during proceedings - these insiders havenât followed up anywhere since this article even before a police report was finally filed by a third party on the 19th, days after the original article. Dispatch and Lee Jin Ho The company states in their second reply statement that they are not commenting any further on Haknyeon, but Dispatch published multiple agency statements in their article. The article was released one day after cyberwrecker LJHâs video alleging Haknyeon bragged to his group members that they slept together. Dispatch echoes this story with detail variation. It seems to me that either: Dispatch and LJH are colluding (wouldnât be the first time) Dispatch is just copying what LJH said and published it beside the agency statement for drama's sake Dispatch and LJH have the same insider source of intel but someone is fudging or not understanding details along the way If these staff members are telling the truth in these reports, why are they opting to turn to a cyberwrecker to share their story? I would even be more inclined to believe it if it was only Dispatch reporting since the agency explicitly spoke to them, but the fact LJH got this story first makes me think this info is either unreliable or just plain nefarious. It is entirely possible that the company directly engaged (i.e. paid) LJH to influence public opinion, but he is such a huge turd that I canât even be objective here and think it was reporting in good faith. In any case it seems the company signed off on Dispatchâs article content. _______________ In summary, I would not be surprised at all if this is an orchestrated smear campaign and the company is exploiting the benefit of the doubt to continue business as usual. Even if everything after their second company statement is true, letting this all come to light through secondary reports is such a weird and uncomfortable way to get people on your side. One last point -- none of these reporters asked Haknyeon for his side and let these insiders(?) run rampant with what essentially is gossip. submitted by /u/UselessVisual [link] [comments]
GOT7 encountered many issues while under JYPE, that is objectively true. And I do understand why many Ahgases disavow the company, happy to support the members in their current and future projects. That said, a lot of them seem to think the members hate JYP (the man) right alongside them. But practically everything the members have said and done says otherwise. Yes, theyâve expressed discontent with some of the things they were instructed to do. But as for JYP the man, majority of their comments have been positive, full of admiration/respect, and even friendship. Jackson said he wanted to follow in JYPâs footsteps and build his own company while still performing himself. Youngjae just today shared photos with JYP attending his latest Musical Dream High performance. Of course Youngjaeâs recent IG story has caused some Reactionsâąïž with Ahgases expressing disbelief, confusion, and, ultimately, dismissiveness. I havenât seen anyone attack Youngjae of course, but everytime a member shares a recent photo with JYP or says something positive towards him, fans en masse go đ€šđ This is a very minor issue. I donât even think itâs necessarily toxic or problematic as I havenât seen anyone attack the members themselves over this. But I wish Ahgases would wake up and understand that just because they hate JYPE doesnât mean the members hate JYP. And that just because some of the members hold resentment towards corporations (re: Jackson) doesnât mean they hate the people in them. submitted by /u/strawbebb [link] [comments]
just for general awareness, i wanted to understand how people perceive the two - how would you reaact if someone partook in your culture, and what determines if it's respectful or not. also for context, i'm indian - so my perception of what might be appreciation vs appropriation for my community and culture might majorly differ from other fans, hence wanted to prompt a discussion. please be respectful and mindful in the comments! submitted by /u/AmbitiousBeat9945 [link] [comments]
She said to the fan that gave one to her that she doesn't get why people think they're cute. I mean, girl same but someone gave me one recently to spite me and i'm starting to get attatched lmao submitted by /u/Gold_Meaning3688 [link] [comments]

I recently saw the Buzzfeed interview with 4 members of Seventeen where they were reading thirst tweets, and I was surprised that an active KPoP group has agreed to the pitch. The tweets were not PG, but I read so many comments on the video about how these were very tame and how the fandom hast crazier tweets about S.Coups. This definitely piqued my interest but I couldnât find any of these âcrazy tweetsâ. What are some of the craziest AND most creative tweets (please note that I am not looking for disgusting/harassing tweets) you guys have come across regarding your favourites? Also, where can I find a list of these so I can read them and crack up? Please note that this is a fun post and please do not share straight up uncomfortable tweets. submitted by /u/Confyused-Always [link] [comments]
An Yujin for me. I liked her when she was in PD48. Nowadays, she's just all about overly flaunting her looks, making over the top expressions and fashion show posings whenever she sees a camera at her to the point that it's turning to be kinda annoying tbh. I still think she's one of the best idols right now, but PD48 Yujin is still the best Yujin imo. submitted by /u/SnooPineapples4508 [link] [comments]
Not sure how many people here are keeping up with ATEEZ, but theyâre making a comeback on 11th July with a repackaged version of their recent Golden Hour Part 3 EPâthis time as a full album. Itâs going to include 10 new tracks: â Two versions of âIn Your Fantasyâ as the title trackâwhich also happens to be the name of their upcoming tour â Eight solo songs Whatâs especially exciting is how involved theyâve been creatively: â Hongjoong co-wrote and composed 6 out of the 8 solo songs â All eight members have been credited for writing their own track â Mingi self-produced and composed his own â Jongho worked with tankzzo, whoâs produced for IU and Doyoung before In an interview for the IYF tour, San hinted that this tour will focus on each member showcasing a new side individually, which we are guessing could mean solo stages đ Also, based on what Seonghwa, Yeosang, and San have been saying in their lives, it sounds like we might even get music videos for all the solo tracks đ€ Weâve already got Wooyoungâs solo, âSagittarius,â with its own MV, which was part of a project called âATEEZ Presentââsomething Hongjoong started to highlight each memberâs individuality through music. And something that personally tickled my mind a little: the last track of the original EP was called âBridgeâ, and now it looks like it was literally the bridge to this new albumâconnecting the title track and the solos. So clever đââïž Honestly, what a way to wrap up the Golden Hour trilogy. Iâm so excited for this. submitted by /u/Sophisticated-Mess [link] [comments]
