1.416. I would love to see a MAMA stage at the end of the year with the best 5th generation dancers: Bailey, EMMA, RUKA .....

Also I am going to shamelessly plug Bailey's new page here r/baileysok_adp . I know that her group isnt a reddit favorite but she is a very talented girl. I also hope that the Blacklabel stop restricting her with their next comeback because we could see so many cool dance challenges with other idols. I also quite a few idols cover Wicked and Im sure a lot of them would have to do a challenge with her or some of them. submitted by /u/Aurella21 [link] [comments]

1.417. Can an international artist sign with a kpop agency?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

You know how we have Katseye as a global girl group, do you think someone who wants to be an artist, but not Kpop, can sign with a kpop agency? Let's say I want to be a singer, and since kpop agencies put more effort in the artist's music (at least that's what I think compared to western companies) can I just sign with a kpop agency as a global artist? e.g THEBLACKLABEL submitted by /u/Enticing_Cockroach [link] [comments]

1.418. K-Pop and K-drama’s Impact on Everyday Lives

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hi guys, this is a small yet really important part of my Masters thesis. I am a postgrad student based in Bangladesh and I want to explore how K-pop and K-dramas shape the way people perceive South Korea and its people, as well as the impact these carry on people’s everyday lives. As this is one of the largest fan community with people from all walks of life and culture, I believe your insights would be extremely valuable and helpful for my research. So, I would be really grateful if you could kindly spare some time for this project. It’s super quick (less than 5 minutes) and very casual, just share what you think and how you feel about it. Nothing too complicated or academic. Thank youuuu ❤️🥹 Link: https://forms.gle/5uS7K4EnzADcxsiw5 submitted by /u/Plenty_Tax_4886 [link] [comments]

1.428. Are K-Pop Concepts Becoming Too Repetitive?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Honestly, I think the whole “K-Pop concepts are too repetitive” discussion has more to do with how the industry works than with a lack of creativity. K-Pop has always moved in cycles, when one style becomes popular, many groups explore it because everyone is enjoying it at that moment. Trends usually show up in waves. There was a time when retro disco songs were everywhere, like Dynamite by BTS or Mago by Girlfriend, then a period when more powerful, girl crush concepts dominated the charts, like Blackpink’s songs. Now, with the rise of the 5th generation girl groups, we can already see certain directions becoming popular. Some are focusing on bright, energetic concepts with a youthful and playful energy, while others are going for a softer, dreamy style. The problem is that some fans tend to “claim” a concept as if it belonged exclusively to one group. When another group tries something similar, accusations of copying start to appear, even when the execution, music, and style are different. This often ignores the fact that trends naturally inspire multiple artists at the same time, and similar concepts can coexist without one being a copy of the other. That’s why I think “repetitive” doesn’t necessarily mean “boring” in K-Pop. Trends come and go, and what’s popular now might be replaced by something totally different in a year or two. Part of the fun is seeing how different groups put their own spin on an idea that’s already out there. submitted by /u/PuzzleheadedMovie950 [link] [comments]

1.429. I’m tired of Kpop albums being a majority solo songs

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

So I feel like there has been a trend in the last year or so of kpop albums having solo songs from each member on it. I don’t have a problem with groups putting out a collection of solos- especially if some members often get less lines or if some members have a different personal taste than the group. My problem is when a group releases a “full album” and the album in question is 2-4 group songs and the rest are solos. I wish they would just release the solo songs on their own. Personally, when I listen to an album by a group, I want to hear the whole group. If a full album is announced, I’m expecting 9-14 group songs or maybe a couple unit songs tossed in so I feel a bit let down when it is mostly solos. This isn’t about any one group because like I said it seems to be a trend and multiple of my favs have done it. I just wish they would release the solos separately or maybe call it a “member solo album” or something. Curious to know if this is just a me thing or if others feel the same way. submitted by /u/eatanuttybar [link] [comments]

1.430. Self-produced means nothing if the song is basic

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

In light of certain recent news, everyone is up in arms saying how their faves had the best debut ever and yadda yadda yadda, but one thing I especially heard being thrown around recently was that "XYZ's debut (song) is better bc they wrote it themselves" Now pause. I'm gonna list some debut songs only from groups *I personally stan*, and I want you to tell me if you see a pattern here: "Attention" by NewJeans "plot twist" by TWS "FACE" by NU'EST Notice anything? How about these: "District 9" by Stray Kids "Adore U" by SEVENTEEN "Pirate King" by ATEEZ See it yet? That's right: some of the most legendary and iconic debuts that people actually listened to were not written nor produces by the group members themselves! Shocker! Meanwhile, the public (at the time) slept on the above listed self-produced bangers. And before you come for my ass-- i was literally there when District 9 dropped as an ahgase to support GOT7's little brothers, believe me when I say that that song was a let down by many people (not me tho) and Chan himself acknowledged that Stray Kids failed to gain major traction until "God's Menu" Meanwhile, I'm sure I don't have to remind you how big NewJeans and TWS debuts were, even though the general public really weren't anticipating it at the time. And 'Face' was actually a smash hit in Korea, and the only reason NU'EST fell into nugudom for a bit was because Pled-shit failed to capitalize on the hype. And of course there are plenty of self-produced debuts that were hits ("LATATA" by i-dle, "Rythm Ta" by iKON) and plenty of non-self produced debuts that flopped (arguably LOONA's debut, since they failed to attract domestic fans, other nugus that everyone here prolly hasn't heard of) but my point is this: Self-produced is a title only worth your public reception. EXO, Ive, aespa, and Enhypen are all groups that have achieved major success while barely ever having any writing credits in their discography, while your self-produces faves probably can't say the same thing. At the end of the day, if your songs are bad, they're bad. It doesn't matter who wrote them. And I'm saying this bc I'm sick of stans using the self-produced title like some sort of blue eyes white dragon hidden card up their sleeve-- like so long as it was the members who wrote it, the song absolutely cannot be bad. I hate seeing the meaningless ragebaiting, but more than that I hate the fact that people aren't holding their faves up to the same standards as they do other groups simply bc "at least my fave actually writes their own songs". I always want to reply with "Ok and did it top the charts?" Ok that's it for the rant bye submitted by /u/Unsincerity [link] [comments]
