I find it to be a great shame. Look at 2nd gen groups, even the ‘worst’ singers could still consistently sing live without issue. It really started going downhill in 3rd gen, although there were still instances of good and honest live performances (that one Red Velvet rookie performance were Seulgi had to swap mics comes to mind). Nowadays, it seems that singing has fell to the wayside in favour of visuals and choreography. Even solo artists who began in 2nd gen groups are mostly lip syncing now. For this reason I’ve found modern kpop to be much less interesting. submitted by /u/Consistent-Film-3682 [link] [comments]
~ Name any gen 5 idols, that fits into the category ~ Please don't post the same idol twice, and instead upvote comments with the idol you'd like ~ After 24 hours the voting is closed and I'll post for the next category ~ Today category: Leader ~Vocalist: Chanelle ~ Dancer: Iroha ~ Rapper: Asa submitted by /u/Ok-Database9509 [link] [comments]
I would LOVE some more nugu songs to be obsessed over! Even if it's from a group that only lasted an era or two. The obscurer the better! I want to find groups I haven't heard of before here. Preferably NOT 5th gen groups since they don't interest me, sorry. The examples I'd give would be A Bad Thing by Purfles, But Go by A.KOR, and Don't Cry, Be Happy by BGH4. If you're thinking of Kingdom, Pink Fantasy or Craxy, that's a bit too popular for this post! (And I already follow them!) submitted by /u/archertinuvian [link] [comments]

Also I am going to shamelessly plug Bailey's new page here r/baileysok_adp . I know that her group isnt a reddit favorite but she is a very talented girl. I also hope that the Blacklabel stop restricting her with their next comeback because we could see so many cool dance challenges with other idols. I also quite a few idols cover Wicked and Im sure a lot of them would have to do a challenge with her or some of them. submitted by /u/Aurella21 [link] [comments]
You know how we have Katseye as a global girl group, do you think someone who wants to be an artist, but not Kpop, can sign with a kpop agency? Let's say I want to be a singer, and since kpop agencies put more effort in the artist's music (at least that's what I think compared to western companies) can I just sign with a kpop agency as a global artist? e.g THEBLACKLABEL submitted by /u/Enticing_Cockroach [link] [comments]
Hi guys, this is a small yet really important part of my Masters thesis. I am a postgrad student based in Bangladesh and I want to explore how K-pop and K-dramas shape the way people perceive South Korea and its people, as well as the impact these carry on people’s everyday lives. As this is one of the largest fan community with people from all walks of life and culture, I believe your insights would be extremely valuable and helpful for my research. So, I would be really grateful if you could kindly spare some time for this project. It’s super quick (less than 5 minutes) and very casual, just share what you think and how you feel about it. Nothing too complicated or academic. Thank youuuu ❤️🥹 Link: https://forms.gle/5uS7K4EnzADcxsiw5 submitted by /u/Plenty_Tax_4886 [link] [comments]

Honestly, I think the whole “K-Pop concepts are too repetitive” discussion has more to do with how the industry works than with a lack of creativity. K-Pop has always moved in cycles, when one style becomes popular, many groups explore it because everyone is enjoying it at that moment. Trends usually show up in waves. There was a time when retro disco songs were everywhere, like Dynamite by BTS or Mago by Girlfriend, then a period when more powerful, girl crush concepts dominated the charts, like Blackpink’s songs. Now, with the rise of the 5th generation girl groups, we can already see certain directions becoming popular. Some are focusing on bright, energetic concepts with a youthful and playful energy, while others are going for a softer, dreamy style. The problem is that some fans tend to “claim” a concept as if it belonged exclusively to one group. When another group tries something similar, accusations of copying start to appear, even when the execution, music, and style are different. This often ignores the fact that trends naturally inspire multiple artists at the same time, and similar concepts can coexist without one being a copy of the other. That’s why I think “repetitive” doesn’t necessarily mean “boring” in K-Pop. Trends come and go, and what’s popular now might be replaced by something totally different in a year or two. Part of the fun is seeing how different groups put their own spin on an idea that’s already out there. submitted by /u/PuzzleheadedMovie950 [link] [comments]
