Singing ability has not been important in KPOP for over a decade

I find it to be a great shame. Look at 2nd gen groups, even the ‘worst’ singers could still consistently sing live without issue. It really started going downhill in 3rd gen, although there were still instances of good and honest live performances (that one Red Velvet rookie performance were Seulgi had to swap mics comes to mind). Nowadays, it seems that singing has fell to the wayside in favour of visuals and choreography. Even solo artists who began in 2nd gen groups are mostly lip syncing now. For this reason I’ve found modern kpop to be much less interesting. submitted by /u/Consistent-Film-3682 [link] [comments]

1.256. Just got back in the scene and I’m overwhelmed

My friend a few weeks ago reintroduced me to K Pop again and she’s been trying to educate me on how the K Pop community works. There’s like voting, PC’s, apps you can get to communicate with the group, live feeds, different versions of each album, variety shows, and I’m sure I’m missing a lot of other things. All of this tends to be and issue especially being a baby Atiny. I find this all seems really confusing and hard. I want to participate but don’t know how to even start. I did recently get on an Ateez discord for Atiny’s to try and educate myself but it’s a little (more like a lot) overwhelming. Let me know how you guys keep up with all the stuff in the community. submitted by /u/Friendly_Ad5395 [link] [comments]

1.259. Stanning new groups as an 'older' kpop fan

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

does anyone else feel weird as an older kpop fan ? it's hard to get into newer gen groups because stanning someone who's younger than me just feels so awkward to me if that makes sense ? idk if im overthinking it or whatever but 😓 for example Iroha from ILLIT was born in 2008 and that just feels so young to me. Does this make any sense? submitted by /u/sillycatrat [link] [comments]

1.260. Blinks and Jennie Relationships…

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’m confused about blinks and Jennie Solo and their selective amnesia about Jennie relationships. Why do Jennie fans try so hard to erase the timeline of her and G-dragon relationship?… during 2021 when their relationship news was everywhere, her K-fans and even blinks could barely deny it and were mainly complaining of the invasion of privacy… But now they have totally pretended there was never such rumors. And why do they have an unhealthy obsession with V out of all her relationships?her relationship with Kai was confirmed but even they have forgotten the details of what happened. But they remember every detail with V with such scary fixation!? they have wiped clean everything that previously associated Jennie with GD even the hate she got… Like they remember the instagram follow but the don’t remember trending hashtags calling GD a stalker that even made it to the news for his Instagram activity with Jennie. Is there a reason they choose and pick which timeline to remember? submitted by /u/MarkNct1996 [link] [comments]

1.261. Yuju just dropped one of the best albums of the year. Well worth a listen!

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

The wait was worth it! Blown away by her new EP, In Bloom. The title track might be her best yet, and the bsides ain’t freeloading either. Rocky vibes throughout, but we get citypop vibes, loungy vibes, and both angsty and feelgood rock with vocal performances to match! Proper, real band instrumentals, and 10/10 vocals. And she took charge on melodies and lyrics for the album apprently, and also composed several tracks. Absolute banger album that deserves a listen! If you already checked it out, what’s your favorite track? submitted by /u/pornypete [link] [comments]

1.262. How skilled of a rapper is Jo Woochan of Allday Project compared to other Kpop main rappers?

I’ve posed the question of their group subreddit before I just wanted a general opinion of the rapping game! I’m fan of him personally so much that I made a sub for him @r/jowoochan_adp follow if you like ;) But really I want honest opinions about him so don’t hold back just bc I like him https://youtu.be/FyII0h6dQ4U?si=KY94kdKy7mdyQ1Af submitted by /u/JellyBelly-Girl [link] [comments]

1.267. Throw me your obscurest nugu gems. I'm talking under 1 million views.

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I would LOVE some more nugu songs to be obsessed over! Even if it's from a group that only lasted an era or two. The obscurer the better! I want to find groups I haven't heard of before here. Preferably NOT 5th gen groups since they don't interest me, sorry. The examples I'd give would be A Bad Thing by Purfles, But Go by A.KOR, and Don't Cry, Be Happy by BGH4. If you're thinking of Kingdom, Pink Fantasy or Craxy, that's a bit too popular for this post! (And I already follow them!) submitted by /u/archertinuvian [link] [comments]

Also I am going to shamelessly plug Bailey's new page here r/baileysok_adp . I know that her group isnt a reddit favorite but she is a very talented girl. I also hope that the Blacklabel stop restricting her with their next comeback because we could see so many cool dance challenges with other idols. I also quite a few idols cover Wicked and Im sure a lot of them would have to do a challenge with her or some of them. submitted by /u/Aurella21 [link] [comments]

1.270. Can an international artist sign with a kpop agency?

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

You know how we have Katseye as a global girl group, do you think someone who wants to be an artist, but not Kpop, can sign with a kpop agency? Let's say I want to be a singer, and since kpop agencies put more effort in the artist's music (at least that's what I think compared to western companies) can I just sign with a kpop agency as a global artist? e.g THEBLACKLABEL submitted by /u/Enticing_Cockroach [link] [comments]

1.271. K-Pop and K-drama’s Impact on Everyday Lives

  • 2 weeks ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hi guys, this is a small yet really important part of my Masters thesis. I am a postgrad student based in Bangladesh and I want to explore how K-pop and K-dramas shape the way people perceive South Korea and its people, as well as the impact these carry on people’s everyday lives. As this is one of the largest fan community with people from all walks of life and culture, I believe your insights would be extremely valuable and helpful for my research. So, I would be really grateful if you could kindly spare some time for this project. It’s super quick (less than 5 minutes) and very casual, just share what you think and how you feel about it. Nothing too complicated or academic. Thank youuuu ❤️🥹 Link: https://forms.gle/5uS7K4EnzADcxsiw5 submitted by /u/Plenty_Tax_4886 [link] [comments]
