was wondering what people think when fanart draws idol's bodies when they have no reference point? Example that prompted this being someone drawing a male idol shirtless with a bit of a tummy when 1. this idol has never shown their body before and 2. I'm aware this idol had expressed something akin to body dysmorphia about being on the bigger side. the artist clearly just found "fluffier" bodies hot and thus wanted to draw him as appreciation/encouragement(he'd mentioned dieting recently), though in practice it seemed uncomfortably invasive to me since he's outright skinshy. I'm wondering if this was me being weird abt weight on my part, but also he just, like, doesn't look like that. He isn't all abs and he has some muscular squish, but in no way does he have a dad figure. Then I thought, well, why draw people you've never seen halfdressed halfdressed. Is this a consent issue? Fantasizing what this person looks like under there in a bit of an invasive way? THEN I wondered if it was strange for fanart of real people to exist at all and immediately realized I was lowkey pitching "is it problematic to portray other people because noticing details like moles from photos makes you a freak" which is a nothingburger. I'm aware this is all stupid. I do draw, but I do fictional characters. I take inspiration from real bodies for my character art, but I've never specifically tried to portray real people that wasn't fully referenced, so I feel like I'm overthinking it in general. Caricature art is a touchstone of portraiture, and obviously many historical depictions of humans are stylized in ways where we point and laugh at what medieval painters did when painting babies, so I'm sure I'm just being overly touchy with art. There's a lot of fanart I find beautiful and "respectful", so I'm not sure what the thing specifically that makes me uncomfortable. I guess my original feelings fall into the general ongoing question in "objectifying" idols + what does it mean to do that actually. I think it's easy to identify when people write out strange fantasies abt real people in posts, but I feel like I'm not as adept at recognizing intent in visual mediums, nor where the line is drawn(lol). I guess this also presumes that artists have a responsibility with their art to portray the people they draw "well" or "accurately"(for some loaded terms) vs freedom of expression, which I feel is dangerous to assert and I don't want to do that, but well, that doesn't stop me from feeling weird about what some artists' expression. Sorry for the ramble train of thought, if you can pick out a coherent idea to address be my guest (Also in a similar vein, when people do genderbend art of idols, what does it imply about their conception of gender+why are they even doing that+how come with male idols, from the same artist, some of their girl versions are flat and some got lumps the size of mountains. What are they basing this off ofš) submitted by /u/SomeRaceHorseName [link] [comments]
I swear, being a K-pop fan is like a full-time job sometimes. I missed Stray Kidsā last comeback announcement because I wasnāt glued to my phone that day, and donāt even get me started on how I found out about ENHYPENās tour after tickets were gone. Itās so frustrating trying to keep up with schedules when every group is dropping teasers or tour dates out of nowhere. Iāve been burned too many times, and Iām over it. A friend told me about KpopSync, and Iāve been using it for a couple of weeks now. Itās pretty handy for pulling together comeback schedules and concert info for groups like ATEEZ, BTS, and others without me having to check ten different platforms. Itās not flawless - sometimes the updates lag a bit - but itās cut down on my stress a ton. I actually got a heads-up about a fan event for Lisaās solo project before my group chat did, which felt like a win. But Iām curious if you guys have better ways to stay in the loop. Like, are you living on Reddit and Twitter, or is there some secret app Iām missing? submitted by /u/Helpful_Ad_9447 [link] [comments]
As āWhat You Wantā by CORTIS topped the global viral 50 chart. I started look what countries it was topping in specifically in addition to the global chart and I spotted it so far in Taiwan, Japan and Thailand so it made me curious where else had the song gone viral and why. If anyone has insights to this from where it has gone viral please say? submitted by /u/ARG_obesessed [link] [comments]
Hey, everyoneš§š¼āāļø after seeing daredareda-'s post like this, I thought l'd try it out too! I know many people have done this already but these games are super fun, so I wanna start doing them more often⨠Just a few simple rules: ⢠stage name only ⢠one idol at a time ⢠please be respectful to everyone in the commentsš I'm still figuring out how to do the results since l've seen different ways (like counting comments vs. going with the most upvotes), but I'll be posting these every day around 12-1 PM CSTā°š submitted by /u/rikistale [link] [comments]

So jungkook was wearing merch for a webtoon that promotes sexual assault, murder, and abuse of children, women, and the elderly? And Iāve just learned of this- the only reason I learned was because a post from an infamous snark Reddit came up on my feed. I usually donāt participate in snake reddits especially since they are usually mean rude and wish nothing but ill will upon those who they are made about but this is a genuinely serious and disgusting? Iāve loved BTS before butter and dynamite, but this is just⦠so upsetting. Words cannot describe how upset disgusted and disappointed I feel. submitted by /u/yudiggininurbuhtwin [link] [comments]
I feel bad about this and I really don't know if anyone else goes through it but so far it's happened twice to me. It first started with bts I became a fan at the end of 2018 and they introduced me to kpop all together and aside from them I got to discover so many good kpop songs even though I didn't stan those other idols. Becoming a fan around that time makes it seem like I would have so much time before they would enlist but it still felt short. So before they went to the military I was really into them I even became a victim of the the canceled concert from COVID and I think maybe that's when things started going downhill. Around the time on social media it was kind of hell as a bts fan just constant fanwars to the point where I moved from my bts account to an anime account and focused on that more. Doing that made me seem to lose interest in bts I don't want to blame the fans because everyone always says your a fake fan if you let fans ruin a group for you but it really was the case at the time. I didn't completely unstan but I didn't keep up with everything all the time like I used to. Then came the talk about enlistment the word every army would avoid saying. I heard around the time yoongi got a lot of hate but I think that's around the time I was barely on my bts account so I really didn't see the extent of it but I know it was bad. They eventually started going one by one and then in pairs and that's when my interest started dwindling more. My main problem is I prefer full group content over everything sometimes if a member is missing I can't watch it or will take a long time to watch it. This was a problem for me when yoongi went on hiatus for his shoulder. I could barely watch the content without him. So what happened when everyone started enlisting? Basically the same thing. I feel bad because they released so much content especially their own solo work from fans but I literally didn't and still haven't listened to some of their full solo albums because of my preference for group stuff. This does not mean I've never heard any of their solo songs I just never did full listens of the albums at once. Like for yoongi I heard plenty of songs from his solo album for his tour and even had them in my playlist but there is also like 2 or 3 I haven't heard. I watched the MVs I even watched his last concert before enlisting. Same for the other members who released music before going. Except with jimin and jungkook I listened to their full albums because I was trying to get back into bts more. I didn't keep up with stage performances and all that though. I couldn't even watch a full episode of run jin when he came back. My point is it felt like I was losing interest since it wasn't the whole group and now I feel like I'm getting like that with seventeen as they start enlisting except it might be worse because they aren't all going so close together. I got into them in 2023 so it definitely feels like I had barely any time but again it was little things that made me avoid watching content like when watching some content from a few years ago when jun and minghao were missing such as going svt I struggled to finish some episodes that didn't have them. Now with jeonghan and wonwoo gone it's just repeating like it did for bts. When scoups went on hiatus it was also the same for me and I just feel bad about it because it feels like a ridiculous reason to lose interest in a group especially after being so into them. For bts I never stopped being into them I guess the solo work kinda did it's job with that. So I'm currently trying to get back into them before they release their group music next year. Also for more about me liking full group content. A month before wonho left monsta x I was getting into them. Learned their names and was watching content and then that whole thing happened and he left the group. I unfortunately lost interest since this was a member completely leaving not something temporary and that was it for me with them. I'm also trying not to get into any other kpop boy groups because of this since mandatory enlistment is unavoidable for most. submitted by /u/chia4002 [link] [comments]

Hi hi š So Iāve been thinking⦠being a K-pop content creator is fun, but lately it feels like IG really buries our posts no matter how much effort we put in š I was wondering if anyone would like to try a little kpop engagement pod together? It's a thing that used to be popular during the pandemic but I don't see it anymore. Nothing too serious, just a small group of K-pop creators where: ⢠When someone posts, they drop the link. ⢠The rest of us engage (like, leave a real comment, save/share). ⢠In return, you do the same for others. Kinda like a support circle ⨠It helps with reach + also be a fun way to connect with other K-pop creators. If youāre interested, just comment or DM me with your username + what type of content you make (covers, edits, news, etc). Once a few of us are in, we can try it out š Would anyone be down to give this a shot with me? š submitted by /u/Professional_Pay5563 [link] [comments]

Wonder Girls - Why So Lonely First Half Second Half Disclaimer: This tournament is not a ācomparisonā. The seeds were randomized and I didnāt pick the matchups. The songs picked are amongst their most popular because theyāre easy to recognize. If you have another song suggestion you may leave it in the comments but please refrain from complaining about the song not being included. I also try to switch up the listed songs every new round, so the songs you might not know from a group might not be listed as they were listed the previous round. Either way, feel free to recommend them in the comments if youād like. View Poll submitted by /u/PushOffTheGround [link] [comments]

This was unreal on so many levels. The concert took place on the second day of Hong Kong tour. GD changed the way I see KPOP and the way I see KPOP concerts. Now I want to go only to KPOP concerts.. oops. submitted by /u/TheGamingBrilliant [link] [comments]
I won't say who and I'm truly not hating because I still love their music and will continue to listen and buy their albums. This is just more of me being a little disappointed and burned out on the group's performances and content. I haven't really talked about this before within the fandom either because I know I would totally get crucified and be told I'm not a real fan. My favorite member has really fallen into the thirst-trapping in both content and performances and it throws off the dynamic (at least for me). Everyone else in the group has a similar mood with their expressions when performing; even though they're not all uniform, they fit the song perfectly. But there's one that has been going with the lip biting, sexy gesture thing for a couple comebacks now and it just feels so awkward to watch. I know it's a normal progression as they advance in their career and feel more confident and I'm not faulting them for that, just quietly taking a step back. submitted by /u/trivialfrost [link] [comments]

Itād be amazing if so but Iām clueless about this type of enlistment stuff so maybe Iām totally off base with this idea or if that would even be possible. With Woodz having recently been discharged I thought maybe Cha Eun Woo would fill that hole. Anybody know? submitted by /u/Mobile-Plant-1744 [link] [comments]
Now, weāve been seeing a lot of posts pop up about K-pop fans and their hypocrisy in calling out idols, in that itās mostly because they want to drag them and that these call outs arenāt really genuine. Which, i admit, is mostly true. The narrative or opinion that idols donāt have to be a political voice is something I also somewhat agree with. But, letās talk about the other side of this fan hypocrisy. If you pay attention, youāll notice that whoever is making posts talking about how idols donāt need to be responsible for speaking up is usually a fan of an idol whoās currently under scrutiny for said action. Mind you, they were nowhere to be found or probably were even a part of the group that was calling for accountability from another idol. But, when itās come to their fave, itās suddenly āthey donāt need to speak upā. If your favorite idol doesnāt need to be an activist, then keep same energy for every single idol and donāt let your stance be due to the fact that itās your fave thatās being dragged. Wherever you stand with this whole fiasco, itās your right, but let it be YOUR opinion and your stance. Not something that was influenced by your favourite K-pop star. Thatās all. submitted by /u/Reel-Trouble34 [link] [comments]
Honest to god I wonder what the heck is wrong with people? Why are you so determined for BTS to be criminals? submitted by /u/Separate_Guava_6272 [link] [comments]
Let's ignore the first part of this for a second. Because apparently people will still call them zionists regardless of anything else. BUT please explain to me what people with work visas are supposed to do against ice raids. The comments are full of people saying that they should protest. What? No one is even asking American k idols to protest. Why are you asking people with work visas to protest? submitted by /u/Separate_Guava_6272 [link] [comments]
