I’ve been thinking about Choi Bomin lately. A few years ago, he was everywhere charming on music shows, acting in dramas, modeling, and being called one of the most promising next-gen male leads. His visuals, charisma, and calm aura really stood out. He had that “it” factor that made people believe he’d soon dominate the next wave of K-drama and K-pop crossovers. But after his unfortunate golf accident and the facial injury, things haven’t been the same. His group Golden Child slowly lost momentum, and eventually he left Woollim. I know he’s now signed under GLXY Talent and Universal Records Philippines, and he did a short “This or That” video recently, but overall, it feels like he completely disappeared from the spotlight. Meanwhile, we’re seeing other male leads of his generation slowly and steadily shine actors like Ryeoun, Kim Yo-han, Son Sang-yeon, and even younger ones making headlines with lead roles. But Bomin, who was once at the front of that line, seems to have faded quietly. It just makes me wonder what happened? Was it the injury, a shift in priorities, lack of support, or something else entirely? He had such a spark and presence that’s really hard to find. I hope he’s doing okay and that he makes a comeback, whether in acting or music. He still has so much untapped potential.
