I often read that 5th gen groups aren’t really making much noise, or that their growth in popularity and numbers is kinda slow. Basically, Gen 3 and 4 are still well-known and dominating, while Gen 5 is struggling to make a name for themselves because the market is already crowded and they have to compete with older generations. Gen 3 came in when the K-pop market was rapidly expanding, and Gen 4 arrived when the market was at its peak. Even during COVID, as bad as it was, the digital side (streams, online presence, etc.) was at its strongest, so that helped them a lot. But Gen 5 came in after that peak started fading. The market doesn’t feel as crazy or explosive as before, so they’ve got a harder time building names for themselves. Looking at numbers now vs a few years back, it’s pretty clear things have slowed down. So Gen 5 groups need more time to really build their names. This numbers kinda shows it, the numbers this year just aren’t as big as before, which explains the current state of the K-pop market. What do you guys think?
