For a group that debut just a year ago, they're doing quite well with over 24M monthly listeners on Spotify. They have solid collabs/brand endorsements (Coach, Fendi, Urban Outfitters, Glossier, Pandora, LUSH, Monster High, Jessica Alba in 'Gabriela'), they're making good sales from their album & lightstick, their tour tickets are sold out and they've broken into Billboard Hot 100. At the moment, they're very popular on social media and among Kpop fans, just not fully mainstream. In your opinion, what should HxG do to make the girls' successes more mainstream? I think it's going to be a combination of good marketing (which they already have) + having vocally powerful songs. Dance and performance are important, but good songs have been key to make girl groups commercially successful. The girls are super talented, but their vocals are so underutilized. We all know Lara and Sophia are good singers while the other 4 can hold on their own. I'm sure with some SM-style vocal training, all 6 are going to be solid vocalists. HYBE has the money to invest into their vocal training. For me personally, I'd love to hear Katseye produce R&B songs like Little Mix's 'Sweet Melody', 'Love' & 'Happiness' to be in their next EP/album - vocally powerful songs that you'll enjoy when played on the radio.
