4.467. 4the generation was here and now we are moving to 5th generation - what do you guys think?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Kpop in its own way, has its own system. Named by generations by the media and acknowledged by Korean entertainment companies, we have seen the coming and going of 1st and 2nd generations of idols. Interestingly, the marking of generations previously was the departure of previous generations and rise of the next generations. Now, the lines have blurred. The top of the game 3rd generation idols are still on top of their games - BTS, Blackpink, Seventeen and Twice. However, there is still the birth of new generation idols whose musical identity differs from their previous 3rd generation groups. And more interestingly we have the rise and fall of meteoric Fifty Fifty and NewJeans (though I used ‘fall’ both are still up in the air as the new Fifty Fifty and the inactive NJ still has a chance of a comeback). 4th generation with the rise of Stray Kids, TXT, Enhypen, Ateez, IVE, AESPA, LSF (and NewJeans of course but we know they are in limbo at the moment) are currently still active alongside the 3rd generation idols and now we have the advent of 5th generations idols. What do you guys see the difference between these 3 generations - from 3rd to 4th to 5th generations? Music wise, identity? What do you want from the newer generations? What is your expectations? We have seen the big 3rd generations are still quite active - solos, group projects etc. 4th generation groups is quite a big fight to get a slice of pie from kpop and now there are more 5th generation idols to come. And more interestingly, since idols can technically now focus on music and idol activities, we have seen less of newer generation idols switching careers from being idols to actors as compared to 1-2nd generation and to some extent 3rd generation. And now that we have seen that idol career is stretcher longer than early generations, will Korea and kpop let go of the idea of generations? submitted by /u/Many-Ad-9007 [link] [comments]

4.471. Haseul isn't as good a leader as orbits say she is

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I can't name more than a couple of examples of her being a leader, doesn't help that Kim Lip and Yves were much more proactive than her at leading the group and she's been in hiatus for much of Loona's active period. Even Heejin took the lead sometimes when introducing themselves. Hell even Hyunjin led loossemble better than Haseul led loona. submitted by /u/penguinknight420 [link] [comments]

4.472. why do people get mad/sad when idols who debut at teens aren’t the “same” when they are older

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

(first post kind of nervous 😥) i stubbed across this video of seventeen vernon back in the green room pre debut days and the video was him being affectionate with trainee samuel. and the comments were talking abt how vernon ain’t the same anymore like “ Vernon’s personality did a complete 180” “i miss the old him” like he was probably 15-16 in the video. I don’t understand why fans act like people personality cant change over the years especially when they are teens like at 15. you 100% aren’t going to be the exact same when u are in your mid 20’s. The same thing is happening with Ni-ki with Enhypen like he was 14 when he debut he’s 19 now he of course he going “change” like that’s normal. I see all the “he nonchalant” jokes and its not even that funny cause it’s lowkey just overplayed. But yes I do believe them and other idols being in the spotlight at a young age does take a toll on them but i just hate the term “i miss the old them”. I just want to see other people opinions or thoughts on this. submitted by /u/Gloomy_Koala2641 [link] [comments]

I’m curious about how it became so popular and why Koreans have this soft heart when they hear this song played? Like what’s the lore? Or the song equivalent in the U.S.? submitted by /u/felt_nothing [link] [comments]

Trot Audition 'Mistrot 4' Starts Recruiting Applicants.. Broadcast announcement in the second half of the year Mistrot 4 The survival show is open to women of all ages who love trot. The application period ends August 15. With all the girl group disbandments over the past year, I'm wondering if some idols will enter the competition. Off the top of my head I know that BESTie Hyeyeon and UHSN Maria both performed well in MISS TROT 2, and that MY TEENAGE GIRL participant Oh Yoojin did well in MISS TROT 3. submitted by /u/Potential-Mine2069 [link] [comments]

4.481. So... Is Wonho doing lip sync in all of his performances?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hello everyone! I hope this post fits the sub. I went to Wonho’s solo concert in Brazil this week and I was really surprised when Wonho didn’t sing a single song. I'm not a k-pop fan or Wonho fan, so I did some research to see if this is common in K-pop. I get that sometimes idols are dancing, but he didn’t sing even during the slower songs, which is strange because he used to be known for singing a lot in Monsta X? Also, with the fan interactions he just followed the script, just got through the motions as quickly as possible. Even though he dances well, my overall my experience with his show was a bit negative. Has anyone here been to one of his solo shows and can confirm if that’s just how they are? Or is it something he only did in Latin America? I saw some videos from Chile and in all of them it was pretty obvious that he wasn’t singing either. submitted by /u/CyborgForklift [link] [comments]

4.485. Katseye has the potential to be big. What should Hybe x Geffen do to make their success more mainstream?

  • 1 month ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

For a group that debut just a year ago, they're doing quite well with over 24M monthly listeners on Spotify. They have solid collabs/brand endorsements (Coach, Fendi, Urban Outfitters, Glossier, Pandora, LUSH, Monster High, Jessica Alba in 'Gabriela'), they're making good sales from their album & lightstick, their tour tickets are sold out and they've broken into Billboard Hot 100. At the moment, they're very popular on social media and among Kpop fans, just not fully mainstream. In your opinion, what should HxG do to make the girls' successes more mainstream? I think it's going to be a combination of good marketing (which they already have) + having vocally powerful songs. Dance and performance are important, but good songs have been key to make girl groups commercially successful. The girls are super talented, but their vocals are so underutilized. We all know Lara and Sophia are good singers while the other 4 can hold on their own. I'm sure with some SM-style vocal training, all 6 are going to be solid vocalists. HYBE has the money to invest into their vocal training. For me personally, I'd love to hear Katseye produce R&B songs like Little Mix's 'Sweet Melody', 'Love' & 'Happiness' to be in their next EP/album - vocally powerful songs that you'll enjoy when played on the radio. What do you guys think? submitted by /u/kirireiner [link] [comments]
