Hi all, Usually I see the Japanese releases always have wayyy lower streams on Spotify than the regular Korean comebacks, so I wanted to make this post for us to share some of the Japanese releases we love but are insanely underrated! Some of the ones I'm crazy about rn are: - YENA: DNA (playing this on repeat!!!) - ITZY: RINGO, Voltage, Sugar-holic (the classicsss) - aespa: Hot Mess, Sun and Moon, ZOOM ZOOM - TWICE: DIVE (underrated asfff, I love the chill summer vibes, and the styling is SO beautiful!!!) - LE SSERAFIM: DIFFERENT (fun and catchy tune albeit short) submitted by /u/CynthiaRH142857 [link] [comments]
For the young people here who don’t remember: Jennifer Lopez went viral for wearing that dress, and seeing that photo of her such a cultural reset, some people came up with the idea of using a depository to search for images on the internet, and thus Google Images was invented. Years later, it has become a big trivia that before Jennifer Lopez wore that dress, Spice Girl’s Geri Halliwell did too, she just did not have the same reception, because the overall cut and color just suited JLo better. So what’s the Kpop equivalent of this? submitted by /u/andwhatnowthough [link] [comments]
Recently in his concert (Jay Park), He introduced his new boy group LNGSHOT, pronounced Long Shot under his company More Vision, The group’s lineup consists of four members which are Woojin, Louis, Oyul and Ryul. Their debut is not earlier than 2026. What do you think about this? I’m excited personally for the group because Jay Park is talented and i love his music. r/LNGSHOT is the subreddit for LNGSHOT! submitted by /u/Jolly_Peace_890 [link] [comments]

We've seen a rise in 4th-gen groups actively participating in music production, such as 3RACHA from Stray Kids or Hongjoong and Mingi from ATEEZ, which is an exciting shift in the industry. Recently, groups like CORTIS brought a new landscape in kpop scene, engaging not only in music creation but also in choreography, visual direction, and overall artistic planning. This kind of holistic involvement is relatively new in K-pop. While it's inspiring to see young idols take creative control, I do wonder about the potential long-term impact of such intense responsibility at a young age. It could lead to burnout or creative fatigue, especially if support systems aren't in place. I’m curious how sustainable this concept is, will it evolve over time, or might it fade as the group matures or industry demands change? Personally, I feel that while these artists bring fresh energy and new ideas, having input from more experienced professionals can really elevate their work. Experience often adds depth and perspective that takes time to develop, and a good balance between innovation and expertise could be key to long-term success. submitted by /u/Abitcommentfromme [link] [comments]

Every time K-pop companies want to promote in the West they always go to shows; Today’s Show, GMA, The Kelly Clarkson show etc when known US acts don’t even promote on there as much. In Korea, shows like Music Bank, Inkigayo etc are known for promotions for Korea and it works but in the US it’s a whole different ball game. But K-pop companies are one of the main ones that treat the US as a secondary promotional base by adopting similar promotional strategies like they do in Korea (they also do it for Japan). When British acts pivot towards the western audience they do so when they hit big here, meanwhile K-pop companies think dropping a english song will work when in reality your only promoting to the K-pop fanbase that was there already, they also throw in random collabs in the midst of promoting the single as a promotional strategy as well. They need to approach it differently, TikTok is a gold mine for pushing a song to go viral in the west (ex: look at Zara Larson Midnight Sun going viral everywhere because of her opening for Tate Mcrae) , collabing with known brands and using it as promo to push the song is a great start, for example lsfm collabed with Overwatch and every time you log into the game Perfect Night played, while they performed in Korea for a short amount of time and then their viral moment at the Lakers game that’s when the song started to kick off fully then they promoted it in western shows. It pains me to see SM do old habits that just don’t work, marketing here is their weakest point, song choice and concept is a really good branding to start, they need to look at how Jennie and Rose promoted their solo albums here, even Katseye did their first roll out amazing, they did a mini concert to showcase their Debut mini and did perfs at malls. Idk to me companies are wasting lackluster promotional strategies instead of actually using their time and resources to fully study how acts promote in the west, because to me there only studying how other K-pop companies promote their groups in the US when they need to do their research on previous famous boy bands/girl bands. submitted by /u/Simmibrina00 [link] [comments]

Can someone please explain to me why it’s suddenly normal, especially on X, to refer to male idols using terms like “lesbian,” “babygirl,”, "my girlfriend", “mother” etc.? People usually respond with, “It’s just a Gen Z thing,” but that doesn’t make it okay to me. I believe it happens in many other fandoms but I'll use Stray Kids as an example (And please believe me I don't think the whole fandom is like that!) If this behavior were directed toward Felix — who’s openly expressed appreciation for his androgynous side (which I fully support, by the way) — maybe it would at least make more sense. Instead, people are going after Changbin and Bang Chan, and it’s getting weird. I constantly see comments about their "breasts", “boobs” and how they “need a bra,” followed by people calling them “my babygirl.” Am I really the only one who finds that incredibly uncomfortable? If these are jokes how is that funny? Take someone like Changbin — he’s a great example of anti toxic masculinity. He’s never been ashamed of liking things like the color pink or doing gg choreos, he clearly loves and respect women in a healthy way. So why can’t people just let him be a man who enjoys so-called “girly” things without labeling him as a woman? Being a woman isn’t bad, obviously, but Changbin is a 26-year-old man who’s never said otherwise. When I try to explain my perspective in the comments, I get called a transphobe, misogynist, or told I hate women. But these idols aren’t trans, and they’re not women — so why are we calling them that? And when I say I don’t like seeing people call them “lesbians,” somehow that makes me homophobic? As someone in the LGBTQ+ community myself, that logic just doesn’t hold up. I’m an empath. I imagine what it must feel like to go on X and see thousands of people zooming in on your body, calling you a different gender, and making weird jokes about it. It honestly makes me nauseous. I’ve tried to avoid these kinds of people, but it’s impossible now. And if idols want to stay connected to fans, they can’t avoid it either — they’re being forced to read this stuff. I'm open for discussion, maybe you will be able to change my mind or at least make me less emotional about it. Also does it happen in your fandom too? Thanks for reading! submitted by /u/egggrandpa [link] [comments]
What songs can you think of that do this? Inspired by this video. It lists the count as 219 of the single word, but since the title consists of the single word two times, the "real count" of the number of times the title is repeated would be 109 (and a half). submitted by /u/DizzyLead [link] [comments]

As I said. Yes, many kpop stans have parasocial illness. (I just made this up idk if it's a real word) First off I just wanna say I've been in a lot of fandoms all over the world. Before you start saying "this isn't only an issue in K-pop!" Yes it's not only in K-pop, but it's A LOT MORE common in K-pop than other fandoms. I'm just genuinely curious. Do people not care about music anymore? Genuinely, why is everyone so curious about idols and their lives? It's crazy how much that matters to K-pop stans it's almost like they wanna date them. Turns out they probably do. Like honestly if you look at Beyoncé. Her life is so private to the point that she doesn't even do interviews anymore, it's probably been more than 10 years since her last one. She drops a music video drops an album and goes to tour. submitted by /u/StonDelRey [link] [comments]
